Homeless in the City, Part 5 - Kirk's New Wife and New Life
Love is in the air in Roaring Heights this week. We've had two proposals and a wedding.
While Kirk was out delivering sing-o-grams to people who had been yelled at, (this time they weren't yelled at by Kirk 😉), he ran into his wealthy, attractive crush - Josephine Harbucks, recently widow of Oliver Harbucks, one of the richest men in town.
One thing led to another, and despite the fisticuffs going on in the background, (Betty Davis was being manhandled by this ape) . . .
. . . Kirk's attention was only on Josephine.
Kirk and Josephine smooched as Betty gave the ape a piece of her mind from a safe distance. Kirk figured it was as good a time as any to pop the question.
Josephine, though still missing her late husband, could not imagine her life without a man in it, so she said yes. She figured Kirk was the firm paternal hand that her teenage sons would be needing in the absence of her dear Oliver.
Kirk, not wanting to let this wealthy widow slip from his grasp, invited her out to Prosperity Park later that day, where he suggested they marry immediately as neither one of them was getting any younger.
Josephine suggested they wait until her children could attend the wedding figuring it might be a little off-putting for them if she showed up at the house with a new step-father for them. (Surprise!)
Kirk promised there wouldn't be any issues with the kids. He was sure they would welcome him with open arms. After all, every child wanted a strong father figure in their lives to teach them right from wrong.
Josephine gave in and they were married on the spot.
They only had one witness to their marriage, and he was none too happy about it.
His name is Allen Warner, and from what I can surmise, he's an "old flame" still "carrying a torch" for Josephine. The poor guy has probably been waiting for years for old Oliver to kick the bucket so he could have a shot at Josephine, but Kirk swooped in and beat him to the punch!
Perhaps Kirk has a rival for Josephine's affections. He'd better keep her happy!
Meanwhile, Carmen was making plans of his own to tie the knot with Angie.
Now that little Darby is a bit older, Carmen plans to concentrate on accumulating enough money to get them a real home.
They plan to have a modest wedding, but not a rushed, spur-of-the-moment affair like Kirk's. There will be guests and cake.
But back to Kirk . . . .
Kirk and Josephine make a pretty compatible pair as both of them are performers and the mansion is set up for entertaining.
Let's meet Kirk's new family.
Josephine is brave, family oriented, a heavy sleeper, a virtuoso, and ambitious. She used to be in the military, rising to the rank of Flight Officer, before marrying Oliver Harbucks and becoming a lady of leisure. She isn't one to sit around, however, and has taken up the cello and fan fiction writing. She likes classical music, grilled salmon, and the color pink.
She and Oliver Harbucks had three kids.
Billy is the oldest.
He figures since he comes from money, he should dress the part. He is friendly, a heavy sleeper (like his mother,) excitable and hot-headed. He has a high school sweetheart named Maribel Torrance, but when I was getting to know him better, he kept getting wants pertaining to a Guadalupe Torrance, who I assume is Maribel's sister? I'm starting to wonder if he's dating Maribel to get closer to Guadalupe, and it's really Guadalupe he's smitten with. While Billy doesn't have any traits pertaining to being an entertainer, he is listed as an "attic act" performer. I haven't yet checked to see if he has any skills in performing. He likes Spooky music, spaghetti with veggie sauce, and the color blue.
I don't think Billy knows he has a new step-father yet. He wasn't home when Josephine and Kirk arrived.
Next we have Alfonso, the second teen son.
Alphonso does know he has a new step-father, and he's NOT happy about it. They have already had some altercations due to Kirk calling him lazy and criticizing him for watching too much TV.
This is Alphonso when he's "slightly insulted."
Kirk seems to do well with babies and children, but he doesn't handle teens very well. He and Paulo often got into arguments when Kirk was in the homeless colony.
In addition to being a couch potato, Alfonso is excitable, a vegetarian, and a diva (like Kirk.)
Kirk did his best to convince Alfonso that he married Josephine for love and not for money, but I suspect Alfonso doesn't believe it. Alfonso wants to be a professional author someday. He enjoys Dark Wave music, Stu Surprise, the color white, and he has a crush on a girl at school named Mary Bagley.
Of all of Josephine's kids, I think Kirk will get along best with Keri, the youngest. He met her on a previous visit and they seem to get along pretty well. Oddly enough, Josephine seems to prefer her boys over her daughter Keri.
Keri can't stand art, is good, and a virtuoso. She likes Digi-tunes music, chili con carne, and the color pink.
The mansion needs a lot of work and Kirk has made a few changes, but neither he nor I are satisfied with the state of the place. The family has a lot of money, so renovations shouldn't be a problem. Kirk wants to hire an architect/interior designer to fix the place up.
This is where you come in if you like building and/or furnishing. I will upload the house and family to the Exchange. If you are interested, take the lot and fix it up. I'd be glad to use it in the story. Here are Kirk's requirements.
- a large area for performing and entertaining guests
- each of the kids should have their own bedrooms
- there should be a bedroom for a butler as Kirk wants one really bad
- feel free to add a basement or extra floor or enclose balconies, but keep the basic footprint of the house
- landscaping is optional
- all interior rooms and features can be changes, demolished, or adjusted.
