Sagehen Mesa Season 4, Episode 1 - Where's Ronda? Samir Barclay explains.

Hi, it's Sam Barclay here. 

When we left off at the end of Season 3, Ronda Culpepper ran away from home. After the local police investigated the situation in town, it was determine that Ronda most likely left for Roaring Heights to look for a vagrant man she befriended and on whom she formed a school-girl crush. 

The Culpeppers asked me and the local police to meet with them to hammer out a strategy for locating Ronda and bringing her home safely. 

"Thanks for meeting with us Samir. I know you're retired now, and I really appreciate you coming out of retirement to help me find my daughter. 

Due to work related reasons I'm unable to leave town at the moment, and I wouldn't even know where to start. The police department has agreed to send Dara along with you to help cover more ground, plus she has training in finding missing persons that I don't have. Holli and I will stay in town and look for her here. We'll let you know if we learn anything new about her whereabouts of if she comes home on her own." 

"Dad, I've secured an airbnb in Roaring Heights. It has four bedrooms, so if we can get more volunteers, we have room for them."

"I am afraid I cannot spare any more of my officers on an out-of-town case. I'm making an exception as it is for Dara to go, since the girl is her sister."

"I think I know someone who can help. I'll try an get ahold of Jolene Lawson. She's an experienced detective and grew up around here. I'll go to the office and contact her and see if she's up for a trip to Roaring Heights." 

That Sheriff Lang is a real piece of work! We really should have kept Rae as sheriff. Lang really made a a spectacle of himself the other day. We had a travelling acrobat come through town, and she was performing out in front of the city hall, and drawing quite a crowd. 

Cliff Mahon showed up, brazen as can be, and stood right next to his ex-wife Tess and the sheriff. It took Lang a while to recognize Cliff. Tess, on the other hand, recognized him right away. 

I could see the wheels turning in Lang's head. Where had he seen this face before? Wait a minute! It was on a wanted poster! 

"You! You're that buzzberry scoundrel who got away!" Lang sputtered. 

"It's HIM, everyone! It's Cliff 'Moleman' Mahon!"

"I can't believe it! After all these years, he turns up right in front of me!"

Tess gave Lang a smattering of applause for putting two and two together. 

You, sir, are under arrest for your part in the buzzberry scandal and the assault of Josie Williams. You are an idiot showing your face in public!

"Hold your horses, nincompoop! I'm no dummy! The statute of limitations ran out on those charges. That happened years and years ago when I was a young man. Unless you have something more recent to charge me with AND have proof that I did it, you are out of luck!

"You need to come with me to the police station right now!"

"On what charges?! You're not the boss of me! You're just a foreign fella who don't know how things work around here. I can't believe my sister married you!"

I was right there and saw the whole thing. Cliff slapped Lang upside the head, and Lang was too shocked to do anything about it! Rae would have socked it to Cliff if he had pulled that stunt on her. 

"You married a looser, sis! Best get him on home before he makes a bigger fool of himself!"

Lang hurled a few more insults and stalked off. I followed Cliff into the library and tried to give him some friendly advice. 

You just assaulted a police officer, Cliff! What were you thinking? Sure, he's flustered now, but as soon as he collects himself, he'll be on the lookout for you. You'd best keep lying low if you know what's good for you! 

I don't know how someone can be so smart and so dumb at the same time. By the way, Jolene has agreed to join us in search of Ronda in Roaring Heights. We'll let you know how it goes.
