Goldbeard PI - Part 4 - Coral's Big Promotion and Life Changes.

Coral Goldbeard has now reached level 10 of the private investigator career. Congratulations, Coral! Some of the townspeople arranged a little celebration, but Coral wasn't that impressed.

As soon as the party ended, she took to swimming in the fountain. Swimming, especially skinny-dipping seems to be a hobby of hers.

She chose to keep her suit on for this occasion, which was good, because her new PI friend Lucky Butler was stopping by on his way to research a case of his.

I wasn't sure Coral and Lucky would get along, especially with Coral's abrasive, mean-spirited pirate personality, but they hit it off right away and bonded over their shared profession.

I think they have very different approaches to solving their cases. Lucky is a rather nice guy, but Coral tends to lose patience if information isn't forthcoming. She's not above beating up little old ladies to get the information she wants.

She has solved a few more cases lately. One involved someone stealing boxes of apples from the supermarket and selling them on the black market cheap. After asking around, Coral learned that several of the townspeople had started buying their apples from another person because the price was much lower. It turned out that one of the employees at the supermarket was providing this individual with the apples, so it was an inside job all along. I believe that employee lost her job.

Then there was the matter a gnome kicker. It seems that Coral had a similar case when she was a teen. Coral has a lifetime wish to solve 35 cases, but the tally drops to zero every time I switch households, so I've been keeping track manually. She has solved 16 cases so far. I plan to end this series soon since she has reached the top of her career, and this isn't my favorite game. There are a couple new ones I want to start, and some I like better that I want to focus on.

Coral and her love interest Nestor are still seeing each other.

She has asked him to go steady, and he has moved in with her. Nestor was a social worker and didn't have a home. He's also a bookworm, neat, party animal, and mooch. His lifetime wish is to be a gold digger, so I don't know if he and Coral will stay together in the long run as she has broken ties with her wealthy, influential family, but he's also learned that Fawn is from a wealthy family though she isn't wealthy herself.

Despite slow dancing while Coral was out at the park with the family dog, Fawn has her cap set for another guy. I thought she would be getting together with Martin Pepper from work, but apparently they are just good friends.

Fawn invited Martin out to the park on their day off, but while she was waiting for him, she met a handsome man named Alonso Candelaria.

They really hit it off.

Fawn introduced Martin to Alonso, and when Alonso was out of earshot, she confided in Martin that she was very attracted to Alonso.

"I want to marry that man and have his babies!"

Martin took it all in stride. I guess they really are just friends.

"Well, if you are that attracted to the guy, I wish you all the best," he said.

"You'll always be my work husband," she assured Martin.

Coral wanted to strengthen her friendship with Lucky, so she invited him out to the mini-mall for a round of bowling.

A few days earlier, Coral had stopped by to upgrade the bowling alley to cosmic bowling. The lady at the food counter didn't seem to mind.

There was one burglary attempt during this time period, but the culprit was arrested and nothing was stolen.

Nestor threw one heck of a party after moving in. Fawn was at work, and Coral showed up to find the party in full swing.

She was a good sport and joined in the festivities.

Martin Pepper was dancing with an older woman, and another older woman with the last name of Pepper started crying about it. Are they a couple? Nestor suggested to the sad woman that she go flirt with the guy in the braids and red swim trunks. That cheered her up some.

I dropped in on Lucky and his family - Holli Darwin Butler and little Bernie Butler (a clone). I fixed up their house a little and added an attached room with a separate entrance for a hobby room. There's an inventing table there. Holli had been showing an interest in science and inventing, so I had her quit the business career and join the science career. Little Bernie is a loner and has no friends. I might have to push him to make some friends at school.

While I was there, Coral called Lucky and they talked for quite awhile. Maybe they will join together and start their own PI agency.

I think Fawn is ready to move out. Since Nestor has moved in, Coral seems to be losing patience with her.

Fawn tried to interest Coral in a conspiracy theory about the astronauts landing on the moon. Coral blew up and told her she was being overly dramatic. Of course the moon landing was real!

My plans before closing this save file:

  • Get Fawn together with Alonso Candelaria and moved out of Coral's house.
  • Get little Bernie Butler to make some friends his own age.

Everyone should have a friend or two.
