Sagehen Mesa - Season 3, Episode 8 - Jolene's Next Chapter

 Hello again,

The semester is coming to a close, and I will be graduating - and not a moment too soon if you ask me. Things are getting very tense here at the sorority house. Everyone's getting on everyone else's nerves!

It has been raining a lot lately, so I figured it was as good a time as any to go shopping for my wedding dress.

I found one I really loved. Unfortunately, I had to return it and get another one prior to the wedding.

Next up was the bachelorette party. I had it at the dance club, and it was well attended.

Poor Ashley was still obsessing over her fall-out with Lane, but she made the best of things.

Shannon had arranged for the dancers, but freaked out when they decided to dance behind that bar where they were harder to watch, but it was all good.

I was feeling a little queasy that night. I figured I'd had some bad bar food.

Some of the girls were inspired by the dancers and stripped down to their undies. What a wild night!

As I said, Ashley was not in the best of moods due to her break-up, but she soldiered through it.

Things got a little better for her once she realized one of the dancers was also fond of her favorite food. It gave them a good ice breaker.

What happened after that is pretty hazy for me. . .

. . . but Ashley said she had a good time, but remained sensible.

Enough late night fun! We need to knuckle down and finish the semester strong! Ye is a business major and is planning to graduate the same time as me; however, she developed a love of science and may decide to pursue that or even music after graduation.

It turns out she majored in business to please her parents, and by the time she discovered her love of science, she felt it was too late in the game to change her major. It must be rough graduating from college and still not knowing what you want to do for a living.

Shannon made a last-ditch effort to bring her grades up, so her father would continue financing her college education. (She's a communication major.)

I studied really hard and felt confident that I would ace my final. However, I had to leave in the middle to the test due to a queasy stomach. It was at this point I realized I must be pregnant!

I guess I need to return my dress for a looser fit! Fortunately, Alden was happy about this turn of events.

Luckily, my grades were high enough that even a partially completed final didn't do too much damage to my grade, and I was able to graduate with a B. Poor Shannon didn't make the C her father demanded, so she's going to have to drop out and find a job.

After her final, Ashley ran into Darryl Buzzerby, and they really hit it off.

They commiserated over their previous bad relationships, and I think this brought them together.

Could the betrayal of others be the thing the brings them together? Are they kindred spirits or even soul mates? Is this a love connection that will lead to a lifelong relationship, and maybe even marriage? As Ms. Josie says, "God works in mysterious ways." I wish them all the best, but I've got bigger fish to fry. My family has come to town for my graduation and wedding. I broke the news that I was pregnant to Mom, who took it pretty well. I guess it helps that I'm getting married in a few days.

I also got to spend some quality time with my little niece Magdalena, (Kathy and Tim's kid.) She's growing so fast!

At note from the Overlord:

The following is a combination of a couple attempts a Jolene's wedding, so you may see some inconsistencies with the screenshots, and unfortunately there was no reception to cover. In the first attempt, the chairs Concat used on this lot were nice, but not labeled as dining chairs, so the sims wouldn't sit down. When they got married and it was time to combine the household, moving Jolene in with Alden at his mansion, the default was for him to move in with her, and his dog was sitting alone at the mansion. I moved both Alden and Jolene back to the side with the mansion and the dog, but it wouldn't save.

I hadn't lost that much progress, so I tried again. This time adjusting the chairs and refining the relationships of the family and friends I added to the save so they could attend the wedding. In the end, I had the same problem with saving. I reset the town, cleared caches, moved Jolene in with Alden before the ceremony, etc. but by the time I was ready for a third try, the game was showing Jolene and Alden as missing their wedding, so I had to use Nraas Master Controller to set them as married.

Another thing I learned is you can't split a household, even temporarily, to separate out the older sims and leave the pets and babies out of the household to save to the adults library, so babies and dogs came along from the Sagehen Mesa save. However, there was no way to invite the babies to the wedding, and the family wouldn't leave them with a sitter without my taking control of the family, so one of the adults would stay behind and miss the wedding. I intended on the third try to get hold of them and bring them and the babies to the reception, but as I said, there was no reception or third attempt. It is what it is.

Now back to Jolene's version of what happened.

********

The wedding was lovely, so many of my family and friends from Sagehen Mesa came out for it. Ashley and Shannon were there too. (I'm not that fond of Ye and Hanna, so I didn't invite them.)

Bobbi was shocked that I invited Tim Mahon to the wedding, but Kathy said he wouldn't let her come if he didn't come along. I hope she doesn't marry the guy despite them having a baby together. I bet it would turn out like Tess and Cliff in the end.

I also wonder if Kathy doesn't have another kid on the way.

Hopefully she just got a bad glass of nectar.

Before the ceremony, I took Kathy aside because I hadn't had the chance to talk to her yet, and I told her she was going to be an aunt. She seemed happy enough, but I got the impression that she wasn't sure my marriage to Alden would work out.

🎶Here comes the bride, kinda fat and wide . . .🎶

I hadn't invited Hanna to my wedding, but she crashed it. Just as we were exchanging the rings, she and Shannon and Ashley sprang from their seats, followed by Darryl. I think they were worried that Hanna would try to disrupt the ceremony. I saw Hanna, Darryl and Shannon slip out of the room, but I've got my own thing going on, I don't have time for their drama.

It looks like Ye crashed too, but at least she behaved herself.

Me and Alden are starting a new chapter in our lives. I've heard that the rest of my sorority sisters have seen some changes too.

Mean old Hanna had to take a job as a cashier to earn some extra money to finance the rest of her college education.

Ye bought a house and took a job, I think in the music career, but she will probably keep her eyes open for a job at the science lab. Shannon moved in with her to share expenses, and Shannon took a job in politics. I don't think they've ever been the best of friends, but they both are the only ones of their kind in town - at least that I know of.

Shannon said she volunteered to do the laundry, but there was no way she was going to have anything to do with preparing food for a vampire. Ye was on her own for that.

Shannon says Ye often tries to intimidate her using her vampire skills, but Shannon doesn't give her the satisfaction.

Can a werewolf and vampire live in peace and harmony? I guess time will tell.
