Sagehen Mesa - Season 3 Episode 7 -Adventures with Jolene
Hi y'all! I'm back at school for my last semester. I can't believe I'm about to graduate with a degree in Technology!
Here's what's been going on with me.
Alden and I are getting serious. In fact, we're engaged! He threw a polar bear party over at his house a while back, and me and some of my roommates went to it. My bestie Ashely came along, and she and Lane Vogel really seemed to hit it off. I noticed they were flirting, and I heard Ashley ask Lane to go skinny dipping with her. He agreed!
Poor Alden was scandalized!
But talk about inappropriate, what is Alden's ex-girlfriend doing here? She'd better not try to win him back! He's mine!
She's trying to impress him by eating his burnt mac 'n cheese instead of the nice Autumn Salad I prepared. What a suck-up!
I was glad to see that Celina Andreasen made it to the party. When we first met her, she was in bad shape. It seemed the responsibilities of motherhood were just too much for her to take. She didn't have any family in town to give her any emotional support or assistance.
My roommate Hanna, "Miss Megaphone," who doesn't like people and has no friends, was oddly enough the one who talked poor Celina out of doing something drastic.
Celina explained that she had been cooped up in her apartment for days on end, and little Lucas had colic and was constantly crying. Her husband Pierre was a heavy sleeper, so was no help with the baby at night, and he was at work during the day. They were low on money as Celina had to quit a job she loved to stay home with Lucas. To top it all off, the washing machine broke, and they couldn't afford a repairman, so Celina was trying to fix it herself without success.
"Call your husband!" Hanna demanded. "I want to have a word with him."
Celina dialed the number and handed the phone to Hanna. Hanna wandered off out of earshot. I don't know what she told him, but he took action.
Celina told me Pierre checked out a local daycare for Lucas, . . .
Celina's work had not yet found her replacement, so she was welcomed back, and Lucas seemed content enough at the daycare, so Celina's situation is much, much better now.
The party wound down, and everyone eventually went home. . . .
. . . I figured now was as good a time as any to cement my relationship with Alden.
He said yes! We plan to marry right after I graduate. It will be nice to escape all the relationship drama going on at the house.
Ashley's really got it bad for Lane, but it's no secret that Lane has a girlfriend. To his credit, he has even told Ashley that he's in a relationship.
However, he's not above meeting up with her while his girlfriend is at work, and accepting flowers from her. He drew the line at public displays of affection, probably because he didn't want it to get back to his girlfriend. But Ashley would not give up. She convinced him to go hang out with her at the Cars and Bar, where she plied him with romantic drinks until he succumbed to her charms.
They had a little photobooth tryst before he scampered on home. Once he left, Ashley felt it was safe to consume her favorite bar food. Onion rings! Yummy!
I really think Ashley expected Lane to dump his girlfriend after their wild woohoo in the photobooth, but it turns out, he's still with the girlfriend. Poor Ashley! She wants so badly to get married, but I don't think Lane is gonna be the guy.
Speaking of marriage, Ashley has been wanting to learn nectar-making, and the nectary has some nice areas for weddings. I called Alden to see if he wanted to go with me to check it out. He said he was busy, but would try to meet me there later.
We had both been up rather late the night before, so that might be why Ashley's technique needed some fine-tuning.
She was both tired and hungry.
I just couldn't stand to watch anymore, so I went to check out the indoor wedding room.
It was so pretty! I wanted to check out the outdoor wedding area too, but it was pouring rain, so I helped myself to some nectar instead.
As we drank, I politely commiserated with Ashely over Lane making her feel like a fool. She started her nectar machine, and it was so loud we decided to go back upstairs and wait until it was done.
Wouldn't you know it. Lane just happened to be at the nectary too!
He had apparently come with Alden. Ashley made quite the scene!
Ashley accused him of leading her on, making Ashley believe he was going to break up with the girlfriend. Lane said he never said anything of the sort and was just here to buy a couple bottles of nectar for a party.
I suggested to Alden that we go look at the wedding room together and let Ashley and Lane work out their differences. When we got back, Ashley was drowning her sorrows alone.
I feel really bad for Ashley, but she's not the only one with boy problems.
Shannon, our friendly neighborhood werewolf, has been crushing on Darryl Buzzerby, but he doesn't seem that interested in her.
In fact he asked Hanna out on a date, and Hanna, who has no loyalty to any of us, went. Not only that, she convinced Darryl to pose nude for her!
Then she drew clothes on him anyway. Shannon was furious about the whole incident.
"He doesn't even like you, Shannon! He's fair game!"
"You need to quit chasing after him! It's pathetic!"
"You are garbage! You did this at the science center?!? In a public area? Were there any witnesses to this atrocity?"
"Erm, just some fish. They won't tell anyone."
"How far did you go with him? Are we going to be seeing a baby Buzzerby anytime soon?"
"You'd better watch it! I'm a werewolf, you know. I'm sure I could take you in a fight."
"Well, let's see about that!"
"I hope you learned your lesson! Don't threaten me again, Shannon!"
Shannon has a lot of problems. Not only is she a werewolf whose housemate is stealing her crush, but she's failing her classes. Her politician father is refusing to waste his money on another semester for her.
Hanna, as I've mentioned, is a real piece of work. She takes great joy in waking me up in the dead of night with that blasted megaphone of hers.
Just a jerk taking pride in her work, I guess.
Well, I guess I'd better go. This computer isn't gonna assemble itself.
I'll keep you posted.
