Sagehen Mesa - Season 3 - Episode 10 - Jolene's Married Life
Hi Y'all
I'd like to introduce you to my new baby. Isn't he the cutest thing? We named him Sammy.
Alden's grandfather was named Samuel, and I've got Samir, who I always thought of as an uncle, so the name just seemed right.
I've been working on a blog, trying to be a social media influencer, but it's slow going. I lost a lot of followers who were fans from my days of blogging about the scandals of Sagehen Mesa. I guess no one wants to hear about my trials and tribulations of living in a mansion. I think they're just jealous. It's not like I was bragging or anything, (at least I don't think I was,) but living in a large house does have it's own challenges.
Alden's writing career is stagnating, so he's wanting to pursue his true passion of becoming a world famous pianist and just write his trashy novels as a side hustle.
I think it's for the best. I don't think Alden really understands what women want from a trashy romance novel with lots of spice, and I just don't understand why that's the genre he's chosen. His first attempt The Musclebound Pianist was clearly a novel where he inserted himself as the love interest. It was a major flop. I really wish he'd go back to writing those detective novels about the dog, but he says he's out of ideas for them. Maybe he'd better just stick to music.
As I was saying before I went off on this tangent about Alden, this house is so big and it's hard to keep up on the housework. I've complained to Alden about it, and he suggested I get a maid! I've never had a maid before. It's so exciting! I called the maid service, and they said they'd send someone over tomorrow. I'm also inviting Ashley over, so we can catch up. I'm curious to hear how things are going for her this semester.

Early the next morning, Alden went off to audition with the local orchestra as a concert pianist. I think he'll have to prove himself before he gets where he wants to be as a musician. He's really talented, so I hope he's willing to pay his dues to get there.
While he was gone, the maid showed up - a hunky MALE maid named Grady. Ooo La La!
He was NOT what I expected. I couldn't wait to show him off to Ashley.
Ashley arrived a few hours later.
"Hi Ashley! How's school going this semester? And are you and Darryl still seeing each other?"
School's fine, but I could only get one of the classes I needed this semester. Darryl and I are still seeing each other. I think he's the one!"
"I'm glad to hear it! I was gonna say, if you were still looking, I just met someone you might be interested in. Alden is out at the theater right now. Come meet my maid."
I searched the whole house for Grady, but couldn't find him. The house looked like it has been cleaned, so I assumed he had gone home for the day. However, we found him out at he pool.
He never asked to use the pool, but whatever. I introduced him to Ashley, and we all hung out at the pool for the rest of the afternoon.
Ashley had even brought her presentation case along, and practiced her upcoming presentation for us.
Alden arrived home and met us over at the pool.
"Hi Ashley, I can't talk long, I've got a new song I need to learn for my new job. If you can just introduce me to your boyfriend, I'll leave you all to enjoy the evening."
"Oh, he's not my boyfriend, he's YOUR MAID!" she teased. "I'll check on the baby and make us some dinner," she said. And she left me to clean up the mess she made. 😕
"This is the MAID you requested?!? What gives?"
"Well, I didn't request him specifically; they just said they'd send someone over. He did a really good job at cleaning the house."
"Here I come home to find you with the POOL BOY!" he mocked. "Are you trying to hone in on my woman? Are you her new boy toy?"
"Have you been to the garage? Did you see the flashy red car I bought her?" he bragged. I swear I was growing quite bored with this pissing contest Alden was trying to start.
"Hey, I don't want any trouble, man. I just came to do my job. Then I thought I'd take a quick dip in the pool. Then that blonde chick showed up, and we were all having a pleasant afternoon, so I stayed a little longer than I'd planned. I swear nothing happened with either of them. If you don't want me working here, fine. I'm outta here!"
"Oh, please don't quit, Grady! I'm sorry for my husband's bad manners. Will you come back and clean the house tomorrow? You do such great work."
"Well, I guess I can give it another try, but I'm not putting up with this kind of treatment anymore! I'll see you tomorrow."
"That was so humiliating! Don't you trust me?! Must you make such a fool of yourself in front of the help?"
"I'm sorry, honey. It just took me by surprise. Surely you know how it looked. He's not what I had in mind when I suggested you get a maid."
"Oh, no. I'm still mad at you! Leave me alone for awhile."
So Alden went to his study and started a new trashy novel, The Beefcake Maid.
Meanwhile I went to the kitchen and found that Ashley had fixed us some spaghetti.
"I love your kitchen! It's a joy to cook in. It's nice being away from the sorority for awhile. Hanna is trying to break in, or rather break, the new girls. They don't know what to make of her. Tameka just puts up with it. . . .
. . . but Karla does not.
Karla's a slapper! You don't want to get on her bad side!
But Hanna can still take her in a fist fight. Hanna just can't help but torment them. The house is always in an uproar.
Hanna torments Karla; Karla slaps the heck out of Hanna . . . it's just a constant thing with those two.
I overheard Karla telling Tameka that she needs to stand up for herself against Hanna and stop being bully bait.
Hanna is rich and privileged, and needs to be put in her place.
If Tameka insists on being nice all the time, the mean girls will win, and she will face constant humiliation."
Ashley doesn't think Tameka will stand up to Hanna though. She's just too nice of a person.

I figured it was time to throw a big party for all my friends. It was meant to be a pool party, but there was a hail storm happening all day long. I thought for sure it would blow over, but it never did. Luckily we have a big house and lots of room to entertain.
I met one of the neighbors from the mansion across the way. His name is Bernard Lalonde. He seems like a nice young man, but I went to check on little Sammy and he was nowhere to be found! I was in a panic as it was time to feed him. It turns out Bernard had picked him up and taken him out to the garage where the workout room is.
Alden said he saw him out there.
Grady went out to tell him I was about to call the cops and report a stolen baby, so he had best return little Sammy to the crib.
In the end, it was Pierre Andreasen who fed little Sammy. Pierre has a son of his own, so he knows what to do. Thanks Pierre!
As the evening wound down, all the dude-bros gathered in the music studio to listen Alden's latest composition. It was a pretty good party despite the hail storm.

I missed my sleuthing days, and the masses don't seem to care for my "life in a mansion" blogs, so I decided to get registered as a private eye here in Sunset Valley.
Oddly enough, my first job was for Alden's ex-girlfriend and my old enemy Nakia Weiss. Oh, well, bygones and all that crap.
Nakia has moved on, thankfully, and is now dating a guy named Emmett. She's itchin' to get married and suspected that Emmett had bought an engagement ring but wants to know for sure, so she's hired me to go through his mailbox and his trash. That's not the least bit stalker-like is it? I took the job because I've got to start somewhere.
It might not have been the best idea to park my fancy red car in his driveway for this, but I can see him through the window and he's pretty enthralled with his television program, so I'm hoping for the best.
Hmmm. . . There's a bouquet of flowers in here. Could he have gotten cold feet? I don't see a ring, but only a fool would throw a perfectly good ring away. Better to return it to the jeweler. Here he comes! I gotta scoot!
I wonder if he spotted me.
I reported back to Nakia, who had gussied up in anticipation of some good news, but I had none to offer.
*******
I've gotta go! Dad called early this morning and told me my mother passed away in the night. I've gotta get on home!
