Sagehen Mesa - Season 3 - Episode 3 - The Return of Cliff Mahon

Watch out Sagehen Mesa, Cliff Mahon has returned a changed man!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not changing professions or anything, but my time in China has aged me somewhat, and people don't seem to recognize me anymore.

It looks like I didn't get back a moment too soon. My second-in-command has really let things go! The hideout is overrun with wild horses dropping their horse biscuits all over the lot, and that promising young Culpepper fella botched a job, ended up in the calaboose for a brief time, and now has decided to quit the organization. So I'm here to pay him a visit and let him know you don't just quit the organization.

It looks like he's having some kind of estate sale here. His old man must have kicked the bucket.

"Hi sir, are you new in town? I see you've paid a visit to China recently. I love the Chinese culture, especially the food. Do you have a favorite dish?"

"I'm partial to the Hot Sour Soup, it really cleans out my system, if you know what I mean. You're Paul Culpepper if I'm not mistaken. Is your old man at home?"

"He passed away a few weeks ago. We're having an estate sale. Would you care to look around?"

As we were talking, who should approach us but my ex-girlfriend Bobbi. She looked a little unsure of herself. It seemed like she thought I looked familiar but couldn't place me.

I remember her though, a fiery one, she is. Still lookin' good after all this time.

"Hi, Bobbi! I'm glad you came out to my estate sale, please look around and let me know if anything interests you. This gentleman came all the way from China! I don't believe I caught you name, sir."

"Oh, . . . It's  . . . . Chan, yeah . . . . Philip Chan."

For a minute, I was afraid Bobbi recognized me, but maybe not.

I continued makin' small talk with Paul, and Bobbi wandered off.

"I hate to say it, Paul, but you really don't have a lot of valuable items here. Most of this is just garbage."

"Well you know what they say; 'one man's trash is another man's treasure.' Please have a look around. I need to check on some of the other potential buyers."

I went inside and browsed around, biding my time until I could get Paul alone. I glanced out the window into the backyard, and who did I see but that cop lady Rae Gooch. I wonder if she'll remember me.

We had quite the altercation just before I left town.

They were comin' through the back door! I thought for sure she'd spot me. I prepared to run for it.

She had no clue who I was! Not even when I got real close to her.

I must be a master of disguise, or I just got old.

I waited around until the others left and confronted young Paul Culpepper.

I revealed my identity and told him I was back and I had heard some story about him quitting the organization, and that simply isn't done! He was shocked!

"Your secret is safe with me, Mr. Mahon, but it's pretty clear that I'm just not cut out for being a thief. I'm thinking of looking for a job at the hospital."

"Nobody quits the organization! If you take another job, you are STILL part of the organization! Do I make myself clear? If we call on you to do a job, you do it OR ELSE!"

I think I made my point clear to the young man. He wasn't happy about it, though.

I've made a few improvements to my little lair, but it's definitely time to branch out. I've acquired a lot of loot from raiding tombs in China, so it's time to expand.

I bought this beat-up armchair from Paul, so he understands this is just business, and there's no hard feelings. I have my own weight bench now, so I don't need to work out at the school anymore. But it seems the other lawmen of the town don't recognize me either. Or maybe they're just too engrossed in their game.

It's time to roll  up my sleeves and get back to work.
