Sagehen Mesa - Season 2 - Part 9- Jolene's Update
Hey, it's me, Jolene. I'm home for school break.
Wow! I left town for a short amount of time, came back, and everything's different!
I see Rae read my email and took some action. The Thursons and Rae's no-good ex-boyfriend are behind bars; Dr. Baum "took a runner" as a friend in college would say, and Cliff Mahon is hiding out. Also, the criminal hideout at the fishing pond and the buzzberry farm have been destroyed, . . .
. . . and Uncle Sam has moved to town and gotten married. (Yes, I know Sam isn't really my uncle, but that's the way I've thought about him since I was a kid and he hung out with my real Uncle Jude.) The fact that Sam married Cliff's ex-girlfriend is hilarious! They aren't the only ones getting married around here.
All my friends seem to be getting married. Clancy is marrying Rae, and Hector got married to Hannah Baum and is now living in that big, fancy house with her. When is it going to be my turn to get married? I hope I get married before Kathy and Tim! Kathy just had her birthday and is an adult now. Tim looks a heck of a lot like his dad these days, . . .
. . . and my parents have gotten old! I guess it's true that you can't go home again.
The school has been remodeled with the funds from Stephanie Mahon, Cliff's more successful scientist sister. I hear Stephanie is moving to town and has bought Bobbi's old house. I wonder if I will meet her while I'm here.
I came home because it's semester break and Sam was getting married. However, I went to the book store and ran into Sherri Shafer, one of my classmates. She was minding the store but said she wasn't feeling well. She asked me to fill in just for a few minutes while she took a break. I waited, and waited, and she never came back. As a result, I missed Sam's wedding. That's the last time I do Sherri any favors!
Clancy introduced me to Rae's new partner on the force. His name is Christopher Lang, and my, he looks handsome and exotic!
He said he's from Belgium. He's a big fan of a series of books about a detective from Belgium with a crazy mustache who solves mysteries. Clancy and Christopher don't see eye to eye on most things.
Clancy says the guy's a gossip and doesn't like soda pop. He found him and Maria Lopez whispering and giggling about something, and he felt like it was about him. He thinks they were having a laugh about him, the son of a felon, marrying a cop.
Clancy's entitled to his own opinion, but I find the man to be quite intriguing. I admit we have been going out a bit since I've been in town, but my heart belongs to Alden.
Alden and I are getting serious, but sometimes he can be a real pain.
I admit, I've flirted around with other guys on the nights Alden ditches me. But none of them are as appealing to me as Alden.
Sometimes when Alden is too busy to hang out with me, I just go out and have fun with my friends.
There are other times when Alden is attentive and sweet.
However, the minute I got there, he started acting like an ass.
Maybe he was just having a bad day, he settled down for a few hours and we had a good time, . . .
Then he started acting like an ass again. So I left.
That evening, I commiserated with my friend Ashley over some onion rings. Boy, she can really put the food away and not gain an ounce!
My roommate and I aren't all that close, but we get along fine. She told me she will be moving out soon as she's completed her internship at the city hall, and will be graduating. The lease is up, and I'm not sure where I'll move to for the next term. Maybe Alden will invite me to live with him? Maybe I'll live in the sorority house with Ashley? I'm not sure yet.
