Sagehen Mesa - Season 2 - Part 8 - Sam Gets Hitched
I'd like to say the weddin' went off without a hitch, but for a while I wasn't sure it would happen. First, I lost track of time waterin' my garden. Guests started showing up and I was in a smelly state, so I hopped in the shower. Bobbi also lost track of time rakin' her leaves then got the urge to play in them, so she was also in quite a state and had to take a shower. Jolene, who came home from school to be at the weddin' was called away to fill in for a friend at the bookstore, so she missed the weddin'. It was stormin' to beat the band. But all's well that ends well I guess. Bobbi and me got 'er done.
My stomach was a rumblin' but Bobbi was purty as a picture, so I put thoughts of the cake from my mind and got down to business.
Mostly the Rolands and the Mahons were the only ones who stuck around, the Rolands being as they're neighbors and my friends, and Tess because she's Bobbi's best friend, and Tim because he's datin' Kathy. I didn't know it at the time I arranged the weddin' but today was also Kathy's and Reuben's birthdays! How could I have been so forgetful? They were kind enough to wait until after the ceremony to do their own celebratin' bein' good friends and all.
Jolene made it in time for the birthday celebrations, but in all the excitement, someone left their cake out in the rain. It's a cryin' shame.
Jolene told me all about her college experiences, or as much as any right-headed kid would admit to in the earshot of their parents. I gathered that she was doing well in her classes, had a very hungry friend with a passion for onion rings, and some city-slicker, book writtin' snob for a boyfriend. I surmised that he doesn't always treat her respectful, and I don't think I approve of her choice, but what do you do? Sometimes kids just have to learn things the hard way. I just advised her to keep her options open.
It had been a long day, so once the guests left, Bobbi and I went to bed. We were refreshed the next mornin' and commenced to baby-makin'.
I guess in all the excitement, I forgot to tell you about my new dog Indi. Remember when I told you I spied ol' Chuck Culpepper takin' his pack of dogs to the library?
Well, the reality of keeping all them dogs fed and licensed finally hit home, and he was willing to let one of them go. I promised I'd take real good care of Indi.
But I'm gettin' a bit off track. Where was I? Oh, yeah. Baby makin'. It turns out Bobbi and I will expectin' a young'un real soon. I took Bobbi out to a real nice dinner and apologized that I couldn't take her on an exotic honeymoon right away. I'd poured nearly all my money into building the house.
I'm so glad she didn't seem to mind.
