Sagehen Mesa - Part 7- Jolene's Dirt Continued

So I FINALLY got released from my wrongful imprisonment. My parents are so unfair! How come I'm viewed as the bad kid when my little sister Kathy can wander around town wherever she wants? I know for a fact she snuck out to that old abandon shed where criminals are supposed to hang out and went fishing there ALONE and IT WAS GETTING DARK!

She may be lucky, but someday her luck is gonna run out! Anyway, her birthday came around and my parent's present to me was to un-ground me. They also let me invite Clancy over for Kathy's party along with his little brother Tim and other friends and neighbors.

Kathy says she wants to take up riding and go to the competitions just like Dad. What a suck-up!

She wants Dad to buy her a horse now. The plan was to have her birthday party outside because our house is kinda small and a lot of people were invited, but it started to hail and everyone had to come inside.

Clancy is pretty shy, and I could see he was uncomfortable around all those people, so we slipped out after Kathy blew out her candles and went to the Pit Stop to play some pool.

But not before we spotted Kathy and Clancy's brother sneak out to the barn. I wonder what kind of mischief they have planned.

Whatever it is, I bet Kathy gets away with it. Mom might regret reading her all those spicy novels at bedtime. It might put ideas into her head.

You're not supposed to sit at the bar at the Pit Stop if you're underage, but the bartender is new and doesn't know us. I guess he doesn't know enough to ask for our IDs either. Based on the dunce hat he's wearing, I bet he doesn't know much of anything.

We were the only ones here, except for the old lady and the guy with no pants out dancing in the hail storm. Some people are just so cringe!

Rumor has it that the guy with no pants has a mental condition called the nude disorder, on the opposite side of the spectrum as the never nude disorder. He went to Dr. Ellen hoping to get a cure because he was getting quite the reputation around town. His name is Jonathan McDowell, but we like to call him Mr. McTowel. 😄

Dr. Ellen managed to cure him of his affliction and then fell in love with him. So weird! I hear they plan on getting married.

At least he wears clothes now. The town is grateful.

The mystery of the woman in red has been solved! She is a photographer who used to work for one of those "simple living" magazines. She came to town, loved it here, and bought the little green house out by the church and festival grounds. Now we know who she is, but no one knows why she insists on wearing that fancy red dress like she's going clubbing or something. I think she's a gold digger out looking for a score, but Clancy insists she's a really nice lady. He said he and his dad got into it at the festival and he didn't want to go home that night. He noticed going past her house that she had some chairs on her porch so he sat for awhile, then fell asleep.

He slept til the next morning and woke up really hungry. The lady noticed him on her porch, invited him in, and offered him some juice.

She asked him where he lived, and why he was sleeping on her porch.

He explained that he and his dad had a terrible argument, and he was waiting for his dad to cool down before he went home. She was concerned that someone could get hurt.

After all, she saw him in action not too long ago - or rather she tried to avoid seeing him fighting her date.

Clancy's dad is really strong and obsesses over working out.

I ran into him at the police station break room once when I was job shadowing for an assignment at school, and he was filing some paperwork for his mine at City Hall. He was nice to me, but very intimidating to be alone with.

I guess he has his good points. I hear he's a pretty good keyboard player. At least that's what Mom says. She was at a party at Dr. Ellen's and heard him play.

Clancy tells me his parents are constantly arguing and that his mother is pregnant again.

She's not the only one pregnant. Our friend Hector's mom also got pregnant. What is it with all these women with nearly grown kids suddenly wanting little ones?

I hope my parents don't have another kid. They already traumatize two of us. It would be a pity if they traumatized yet another. The other day my friend Kristen, who's mentoring me to be a good journalist, reported that she saw my dad out by the school ON HIS HORSE!

She asked him what he was doing loitering around the school like a creeper. He said he was just waiting for his daughter Kathy to get out of school, and he was going to give her a ride home. Kristen said he should have just let her ride a bike to school like a normal kid.

I was mortified! I bet the horse was too!

Oh, oh, oh! I've got one more story to tell you before you go. There's rumors of some criminals around. Many suspect this stuck-up blonde dude as being one of them. His name is Trevor something, and he was coming on to Ms. Coy in the grocery store one evening.

He was being all friendly-like, flirting with her and stuff. Then he learned she was a school teacher and that she had a reputation for being good.

And he was really turned off by her.

Not only that, but he was making a big stink about the high cost of laundry detergent and disrespecting our bakery section!

I guess our selection of cookies weren't up to his highfalutin standards. I guess he was getting hungry because he went over to the bistro across the street. I wanted to see if he was going to be critical of it too, so I followed him.

He got his hotdog and went to eat out on the roof. He saw this pretty blonde woman, and started up a conversation with her. Then her pretty friend came out.

He was so full of himself, he thought he could get the two girls to compete for his attention. He danced with one of them, and sure enough, the other was waiting in line for the next dance with him - or so it seemed.

After he danced with the first woman, he excused himself to go use the bathroom. As soon as he left, this is what I saw:

It was hilarious!
