North Winds Reboot - Part 15 - Goodbye Lin Meadows - Hello Pounawea

On day 52 in Lin Meadows, the North Wind came calling, and the heirs had to liquidate their belongings, paring them down to 5 items each (plus the gravestones of the previous heirs) and see where the North Wind took them. They landed in Pounawea, in the region of either New Zealand or Australia. It's a small town with a big golf course, so perhaps the family will take up golf while they are here.

Pounawea

The Meeting of the Waters. The township, situated on an estuary, lies where the Owaka and Catlin rivers meet. A wonderful place to fish, hike and relax, Pounawea is a popular summer holiday spot, with its spectacular waterfalls, gorgeous views, and friendly locals.

created by nicolincacaoThe family settled into a three bedroom house each with its own ensuite.

They had a hearty supper of goopy carbonara prepared by Rosamel, while they formulated a plan for becoming familiar with their new surroundings.  I think this is the first meal this girl hasn't burned. Her pancakes are so awful that she refuses to eat them. However, Angelo, the good father with the stomach of steel, will eat them.

"You don't have to eat that, Dad. I'm sure not going to."

"They aren't that bad, but maybe pancakes just aren't the dish for you to prepare. Perhaps try a dinner recipe next time."

"So you don't thinks I'm cut out to be a chef in a fancy restaurant?"
Maybe part of the problem is she gets started on the pancakes, then has to catch the bus.

"The bus is here, Mom. Can you finish the pancakes for me?"

I'm surprised this didn't start a fire, but I guess this fancy stove prevents that.
Anyway, before we move on to Pounawea, there were some important events that took place in the last few days at Lin Meadows, so I'm providing some of the goings-on from that time period. Rosamel successfully vandalized a couple more public bathrooms without getting caught.

She tried to go on a few dates with Daniel, but he either said he was working and didn't know when he'd be done, or he'd run off shortly after they got together. He did manage to take her to Prom and asked her to go steady. (I'm assuming he's running to open the door for her and not just leaving her out in the snow, but there's no telling with these guys.)

Oddly enough, I think this is the first Sim Prom I've heard of that didn't have at least one fight break out. All was peaceful.

By the way, I tried to get Rosamel to send Daniel a break-up text (as is tradition) when she moved, but I got the message that she didn't know anyone to text. He's still in her relationship panel, but shaded out. Also, he looks to have aged up to young adult, so maybe she can't break up with him because she's still a teen and teens and young adults can't date? I'll try again once she ages up in a few days. She was wanting to become BFFs with vampire Mike's vampire son Gregorio. She went over to his house to hang out.

Gregorio's father Mike was being creepy. When Rosamel introduced herself to him, he put her under a trance!

All it did was cause her to be confused, according to the messages. The developers could have done so much more with this. She could have been forced to act like a chicken (using the chicken dance interactions) or swapped a personality trait temporarily (like some drinks do) or made her violent (lunatic slap) or make her extremely hungry or sleepy (like some potions do). The developers really dropped the ball on this one because it had little to no real effect.
Mike is a dancing fool. I first spotted him at the gym cutting a rug.

Then he was dancing at home along with the kids.

Even his wife was wondering why he never took her out dancing.

Maybe he doesn't take her out because he's afraid she'd embarrass him with her inept version of the chicken dance.

The poor woman trips over her own feet repeatedly!
Gregorio has a little brother named Jaimie who also had a friend come over to hang out.

Her name is Darla. Jaimie's mom tried to pinch her chubby little cheeks. Some people's parents are so cringe!

Darla thought Jaimie's big brother was kind of cool, though.

Abigail had a very successful date with Zachery a while back, and he asked her out again.

I sent her to meet up with him while I was doing something with a different family member and went to check on her later. Apparently this date didn't go as well.

He slapped her and seemed pretty smug with himself, so I figured it was time to escalate the situation.

She declared him a nemesis, but he didn't really seem to care.

He got his comeuppance. He's cheating on his wife anyway, the scumbag. Go back to your wife, Ebony.

Abigail is no better. She keeps flirting with both Angelo and Calvin to the point that Angelo's and Calvin's relationship is at the dislike stage, but at least they aren't enemies - yet.
I thought about kicking Abigail out, but she is Rosamel's momma, and Rosamel likes her - just not as much as she likes Angelo and Calvin. Some things take care of themselves, however.

I was going to leave her the house when the rest of the family left, but I guess I don't have to bother now.

She earned a nice sized headstone. I wasn't even paying that much attention to maintaining her wishes. She was content to move on to the next world.

Abigail had a lot of friends, but the family decided on a small intimate ceremony - mainly because my experience is, since there's not funeral party on public lots, I can only throw a destination party, and sims tend to act in ways unbecoming of such a somber event.

Scottie Monroe was kind enough to play a song or two in Abigail's honor.

After a sufficient amount of mourning time had passed, Rosamel explored the catacombs, Calvin went fishing in the pond, and Angelo tried impressing this hot blonde, who resembles a young Abigail, with his kicky bag skills.

The blonde's name is Lorie Broussard, and I suspect she was Scottie Monroe's girlfriend by the way he got upset and ran off when Angelo and Lorie cuddled on the park bench.

Leave it to Calvin to try to hone in on Angelo's budding romance.
Lorie seemed as interested in Calvin as she was in Angelo.

Lorie expressed her condolences on Angelo's loss, which triggered his grief, . . .

. . . but he got over it rather quickly.

They ended the day with a water balloon fight.

Calvin had previously bought a soda at the gym and brought it with him to the funeral.

First, he shook the machine to see if he could get a free one, and purchased one when he was unsuccessful. I guess he was getting a bit peckish and autonomously grabbed the soda from his backpack. I have never seen this happen before! After all these years, I'm still discovering new things.

It looks like Rosamel found the tomb bear.

Time for some relaxation to help alleviate the stress of this sad and frightening day.

The exploding pop can wasn't the only strange thing that occurred.
Another thing that threw me for a loop is that I switched over to Rosamel's boyfriend Daniel to see where he might be working since he struggled with making time for Rosamel. It seems he was working in the athletic career as a teen, which is strange in and of itself, but he had an opportunity to improve his performance from working out, so I sent him to the gym and had him invite Rosamel to meet him there. She showed up like this.

There is no festival in this world, and it's not Spooky Day. I have no idea where she got this outfit. I swear I had only left her for a few minutes.
But I digress. We had one more death in the family before it was time to leave.

Calvin was devastated. This was his grandfather's bird. They could only take one pet with them when they moved, and Rosamel had received the puppy Bella for her birthday, so the plan was to release Rin into the wild. The family wanted to teach Rin all the words and phrases they could before releasing him, and he was so close! Sorry Rin. I didn't mean for you to die in captivity.

Here's the final death. I don't know how it happened. I suspect he'll be replaced.

I'll close with a house I built for one of Daniel Hanyman's sisters. Wendy and her husband Vance were married with one child, but weren't living together due to a housing shortage, so I built this two bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house for them along the river.

They are just a few houses down from Vance's parents, so they should have good access to babysitting. After I built the house and rejoined my original household, these guys up and got a dog. It's on them to get the pet supplies because we're out of here!

There's more that could be added, but I was building it on the money they had available.

On to Pounawea!
