Life in the Bayou - Part 7 - Birthdays, Fires, Moving Houses, New Loves, and Break Ups
I turned Story Progression back on for a few Sim days to see what would happen. Plenty, it turns out.
Stephen McClain: Irresistible Werewolf
I was planning on putting Stephen in a cabin in the swamp, picturing him as being antisocial and having difficulty fitting into life among the humans, but I guess I was wrong.
He was living at the Bourbonnais Townhome with Whitney Gurley and Enrique Cattiwaller, but I guess he overstayed his welcome. Perhaps he was a friend of Whitney's who needed a place to stay until he settled into town, but Enrique put his foot down and told Stephen he had to move out.
Luckily Stephen landed on his feet. He found a cute little house called the Coraline (created by Kcity74) and moved in with his little puppy.
Remo is well aware that Stephen is a werewolf. Maybe the fact that they both have canine characteristics will help them bond quickly. Remo is a genius, proud, and loyal.
Stephen also developed a love interest while I was with another household. Davina O'Neil is a fellow supernatural, but a fairy - not a werewolf. Davina is a fan fiction writer, a virtuoso, a natural cook, a genius, a workaholic, and brave. She also makes no bones about flirting with other sims. I spotted her out flirting a fellow fan fiction writer - a witch named Bradley Dahl. Bradley is a couch potato, a virtuoso, a savvy sculptor, angler, and frugal.
But don't feel too bad for Stephen. He also has another person he's interested in - Leslie Briscoe.
Their romantic interactions were autonomous.
Stephen asked Leslie if she wanted to hang out, and they went to Sapphire Beach (created by Minasawa.)
Stephen wanted to join the stylist career, so he went to the salon the next day and applied for a job.
Ashley Bender, taking into account Stephen's choice of interview clothes, seemed a little skeptical about Stephen's stylistic talents and admonished him that it was against company policy to make any client look like a clown.
He went to a party later that night and Prudence Benoit expressed the same concern about his ability to style other people when he was so inept at styling himself.
"What is with all the torn up clothes? You need to make a good impression if you want others to have confidence in your abilities," she exclaimed.
He had to explain that he was a werewolf, and that's why he couldn't have nice things, but it didn't mean he couldn't help other people have nice things.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense now," she replied. She was actually quite taken with Stephen, and in the end, showed up as one of his first customers.
I forgot to take screenshots of her new look, but if I remember correctly, she was quite happy with the results.
Another one of his first clients was Chrissy Tovar, who is now romantically involved with that mad scientist Scott Guinn.
Chrissy decided to leave the magician career and wanted to be rid of the shaggy blonde hairstyle for something more sophisticated. She also wanted some new outfits for summer. I think Stephen did a great job, but she wasn't that impressed.
I guess you can't please everyone. After work, Stephen called Leslie and asked her out to the Gumbo Bubbulicious Streetcar Stop (created by soocoolsim).
It seems Stephen has decided that Leslie is the girl for him, and vice versa.
As evening approached, they decide to go get some drinks together at the Four Knights. As luck would have it, Stephen ran into his other love interest, Davina O'Neil.
He decided he needed to ask her to just be friends.
"Are you breaking up with me?!" she yelled.
"We are supernatural beings! We need to stick together. Don't tell me you are falling for a mere mortal! If we are to ever establish a strong population of supernaturals, we need to intermarry and produce supernatural offspring!"
"If you marry this woman and have kids, there's only a 50/50 chance that child will have supernatural powers. I guess there's no one left in town for me to consider except that witch Bradly Dahl."
"He's a nice guy and all, but I'll really miss you!"
Davina is trying to make him feel bad about this, but to be fair, she was flirting with another guy when he walked in.
Now he's free to be with Leslie.
Leslie felt it was only right to text Logan Echols and let him know she found a new love and had forgiven him for knocking up and marrying Sarah without letting her know what was going on.
However, she didn't look too happy when she went to find Stephen, and he was dancing with another woman. Stephen had better watch himself.
Big Changes for the Beaumont's and Ishamel Deemon
While they wouldn't cooperate with me when I wanted them to get married, I guess Ismael has decided the time was right to make things official. Kenyatta has just aged up to a young adult and will soon be out on his own, and Kyla had that terrible experience with being abducted by aliens out on the farm, so I guess that explains why they up and sold it and moved to 308 Cherry Garden Lane (created by SusanMarieD.)
The Deemons' neighbors, the Maples experienced the town's first house fire when Nicolle attempted to fix the family's broken computer.
Nicolle had a hard time putting the fire out on her own, so it's a good thing the fire department showed up.
During the last episode, Deidre Maples had an ill-fated date with "out-of-towner" Reid Pease where Reid hired a singer to entertain them.
At first this seemed odd to me as Shana has enough financial security to not need to take in boarders, and she barely knows Justine, but it turns out Justine is best friends with Hayley and friends with Henry and Ira.
Justine is adventurous, a daredevil, a snob, charismatic, and has a green thumb. She moved in the day before Hayley's and Henry's birthday. (I guess they are twins.)
Post-makeover, Henry is the guy in the green. He is now a supernatural skeptic, unflirty but a great kisser, excitable, and a bookworm. Hayley, the red-head, is now mean-spirited in addition to being a couch potato, genius, family oriented, and a virtuoso. She has taken up the bass and can be seen all over town playing it.
It looks like romance is in the air for unflirty-but-great-kisser Henry. Perhaps he is the real reason Justine moved in.
The Mysterious Stranger and His Cat
Back in the swamp sits an old house, called Lioncourt Mansion, where a century ago a family was murdered. All the bodies of the family were accounted for except for one son - Louis Umbriel. Since then the house has sat uninhabited and falling into disrepair due to neglect. (Lioncourt Mansion and Louis Umbriel were created by whatsociallife.)
It is just recently that a mysterious stranger has taken up residence in the house. He looks just like the son who disappeared, but it can't be, right? If it is, the guy hasn't aged.
Louis hasn't aged because he is a vampire. When he became one is unknown, but no one with any sense would suggest that Louis' vampirism has anything to do with the death of his family members. Louis is a brooding loner who would rather spend time with his nose in a book that spend a night out on the town, but he knows he needs to be at least a little sociable it help squelch any awkward rumors. Despite being a loner, he is charismatic and a genius. When I dropped in on him a few days after he came to town, he had already found a job as a top-secret researcher (level 8) at the science facility. He has also mastered alchemy and has a lifetime wish of being a renaissance sim, mastering 3 skills. He's almost there with level 9 in both handiness and gardening. I don't have a picture of his cat Fah-Zhai, but the cat is hyper and friendly, and is learning how to hunt.
For his first foray out into polite society, Louis decided to attend a movie at the Bartholomew Theater (created by Minasawa).
There he met fellow supernatural Stephen McClain. Despite the fact that Stephen is a werewolf, there didn't seem to be any animosity between them.
Flirty Sandy Gavin-Blackmon seemed to find him to be mighty fine. He did exercise some of his powers on her, to be fair.
Sandy and Billy seem to be doing fine despite her flirty habits and the fact that heartbreaker is her lifetime wish.
In fact they just recently had a baby.
Sandy isn't doing that well in her career, and is considering joining Billy in his ghost busting business.
Bridget wanted a new swimsuit, but didn't like the one Sandy insisted she wear. I have to admit the first suit looked better.
Snooping around the map, I found Graham Reinhart paying a visit to Keith Hart. I think Graham was trying to befriend him, but I don't think it was going that well. Oh well.
Graham was hoping Keith would take him fishing, but Keith told him that he was afraid Graham's ridiculous hat would scare all the fish away.
I spotted the Reinharts out later, flirting with each other, and found it hilarious that their nanny Curtis was right there with them and reading this book! Go home and take care of the kids they already have, Curtis!
I also stopped in on the Guinn household for a little while. Chrissy is still there taking care of little Marie, the clone of Marie Laveau.
She really wants to pursue her dream of being a busker, but there just doesn't seem to be much time. She plays her guitar every free minute she gets. Scott is obsessed with making another clone for her to raise, and succeeded in making a clone of Harmony Echols. Also, I discovered this science thingy in the family inventory, and wanted Scott to be able to use it, but there wasn't room for it at the Debutante, so since Creole Acres was now available, Scott and Chrissy moved there with little Marie.
Baby Harmony is an interesting case. She was born with the flirty trait, which babies don't normally get. (I don't have the mod that give them access to all the traits.) She also already has a lifetime reward of being attractive. Something tells me she will quite the heartbreaker when she grows up. Marie didn't have any unusual trait nor any lifetime rewards when she was created.
(Here's a picture of the original Harmony pillow fighting with Hayley at Hayley's birthday party in case you need a refresher on who she is.)
Marie quickly became obsessed with the supernaturals at the party, wanting to meet and befriend them.
It was the night of the full moon, so of course Stephen fell under the werewolf curse. (I guess he goes blonde when he changes.)
While it's really rude to come to a child's birthday party then throw this kind of shade to her, we were told when she was created that something wasn't quite right about her.
Enrique has always been a bit of a jerk anyway. Marie wasn't his only target. He also told Ira that his older brother Henry was a real piece of work.
That's it for now. More to come.
