Pleasantville Part 7 - Snowflake Day
As planned, the Benoits set up a community Snowflake Day soiree at the city hall. Perhaps they invited too many people and the game got confused, or perhaps half the town is illiterate or too lazy to read the invitation thoroughly, because about half showed up at the city hall and half showed up at the house.
Fortunately, Alex Blackmon was among those who showed up at the correct place. (The charred sim is Alex's brother Billy's new wife. (Story Progression married them up.) Her name is Sandy Gavin-Blackmon, and she and Billy will pop up in a different story very, very soon.
Danica got herself all gussied up and decided she would come clean about her flirtations back at college, ask Alex's forgiveness, and see if he was still willing to go through with the wedding.
"The last thing I wanted to do was hurt you, but I must confess that when I was away, I saw other guys. Can you ever forgive me?"
"I know I've disappointed you, but I want you to know that seeing other people just brought home how much I really care about you. You are the guy I want to marry, if you'll still have me."
"'Oh dim-witted Alex will take me back, I can do as I please without consequences.' Is that how you thought this would end, you trollop?"
Meanwhile back home, Kelvin was magnanimous enough to stay back with the toddlers so the rest of the family could enjoy the party. He decided this was the best Christmas gift he could give the family. However, things were not going well.
He smelled smoke and went upstairs to check on things. Another fire had started and someone left the broken TV on!
The guests who don't know how to read a party invitation were milling around outside, but Kelvin was too busy to redirect them to the party or invite them in to help him put out the fire.
"Isn't there supposed to be a party? Why is the door locked? And why is smoke pouring out of the upper story?"
Things went from bad to worse.
Kelvin knew he was over his head, and called in reinforcements.
"Hello, fire department, I need help immediately! Also, can you send along a TV repairman?"
Hang in there, Kelvin; help is on the way! It turned out to be a two alarm fire.
Meanwhile, back at the party . . .
Danica and Alex managed to calm down a bit. They aren't enemies but somewhere between acquaintances and friends. The wedding is definitely off, however.
Sandy Gavin-Blackmon saved the party by entertaining the guest with her musical stylings on the grand piano.
I guess we'll need to forgive her for not cleaning herself up before arriving at the party.
Katrina and Lawrence couldn't control their animosity toward each other even in a public setting.
I can't remember whose kid this is, but he's bullying Bubba Benoit.
"You're brother is such a loser! He told Zoe."
"You take it back, or else!" Zoe stormed.
I love how Lawrence is just standing by to see the outcome.
"Zoe, you should never create a scene in public! It embarrasses the family!" Lawrence scolded.
"But Danica caused a scene with Alex, and you and Mom caused a scene. Why can't I cause some drama too?" Zoe retorted.
Zoe got a time out - I assume for her back-talk more than the fight.
Lawrence seems to think the kid deserved it.
Meanwhile, back at the house, poor Kelvin, singed and exhausted, chokes down some leftover waffles before heading to bed.
But wait, there's more! Another fire! Didn't you put the fire out in the fireplace?
I was NOT going to prompt him to call the firefighters twice in one night. Luckily for him, the party had ended, and the family was arriving home to help.
It was not looking good, but eventually they put the fire out.
Now he decided to put the fire out. For some reason it was on autolight, so I turned that off. No fatalities - yet. However, Bubba peed himself in all the excitement.
The next day, I spotted Alex in the park flirting with his brother's wife in front of his mother. The boy is definitely on the rebound.
"I'm sorry Mom, but since Danica betrayed me, I'm starting to wonder if I'm not as irresistible as I originally thought," Alex sobbed.
It seemed to me that the ladies still thought him irresistible.
I got a notification that Alex and Kesha Herzog are now together. He wanted to make sure Danica knew that he moved on, so he invited her to a party.
Here Danica learned that Billy and Sandy were tired of the cold and crowded little town with no opportunities for them to get their own house. They were going to move to a warmer climate. The town is called Bayou Bijou. They soon packed their bags and left town.
(Kesha is standing in the background contemplating asking Alex to move into her house with her.)
Billy and Sandy purchased a quaint Cajun cabin in the Bayou - but that's a story for another time.
A few days passed, and the Benoit family had a couple birthdays. Toddler Linda became a child.
She looks so thrilled!
Zoe took herself out to the festival for her birthday and aged up to a teen.
Signing off for now. We'll be back to Pleasantville soon enough.
