Riverview Updated - Part 15 - The wedding that kind of wasn't.
I dropped back in to Riverview this week because I was feeling like doing a color scheme decorating challenge. The Daisy was this week's victim. I decided to try a different randomized color scheme per room. First I adjusted the outside of the house because it clearly had some replacement windows, and I think it was missing a door.
The back was clearly meant to be a sunroom or screened-in porch so I used the screened windows from the Then and Now house kit that is store content. I think the screen doors are also from that set.
The master bedroom downstairs was decked out in Raspberry Red, Mouse Grey, Pure Red, and Telegray.
The kids's room color palette features Anthracite Grey, Luminous Bright Red, Pearl Violet, and Distant Blue.
The kitchen was the biggest challenge. I originally thought it would be the most interesting, and interesting it was, but not in a good way. The colors it got were Ruby Red, Luminous Green, Traffic Black and Signal Yellow. I tried Luminous Green and Signal black on the cabinets that were already in the house and one of them looked good and quirky, but putting it on all the cabinets was definitely overpowering and clashed with the rest of the house.
I left it for awhile and came back later to put the cabinets back to white and put the green and black in tiles on the floor. That was still too much, so I made the floor black and white and changed the yellow stove to Luminous Green - definitely a color intended to be used sparingly for a pop of color.
On to the dining room. The color palette it drew was Pearl Dark Grey, Pearl Gold, Fir Green, and Rose.
The dude eating breakfast was the inhabitant of the house when I took the screenshot. I got an error 12 when trying to save, so he disappeared and was replaced with someone else.
The last room I did the color challenge on was the living room and office area: Pearl Black Berry, Reed Green, Squirrel Grey, and Signal Grey.
There were other rooms to furnish, but I didn't use the color challenge on them but just tried to blend them by using the colors from the other rooms.
The office. I envisioned a young guy living here. Maybe someone who works in the tech field who had a geeky type of personality, but that's not who moved in.
I didn't do much with the upstairs because I didn't know who would be moving in or what their needs and interests might be, so I put up some walls so there will be an extra en-suite bedroom, hobby room (where I placed a pool table just because there was enough room to do so), and an extra, smaller room.
I played with Lolly, Cho, and the kids until someone moved in, then came back to see who it was.
This is Brianna Jacobs. Her lifetime wish is "living in the lap of luxury." The first thing she wanted to do was join the education career. I hate to break it to her, but she'll never get rich on a school teacher's salary.
I love the Roaring Heights hairstyles. I let her keep it and just adjusted her clothing choices. She was provided by Story Progression. I might have adjusted her face somewhat randomly if all the sliders were set on zero, to avoid a pudding faced population and gave her some make-up, but her traits remain what she came with: Disciplined, Clumsy, Coward, Mooch, and Nurturing.
I let her get the job at the school because that's what she wanted. Justine Sexton, the woman in charge of the teen group home, is her boss. Then I sent Brianna out to meet some people.
She met the consignment cashier, Tracy Henning, who later quit his job and joined the science career. Maybe he can be a love interest at some point.
She also met Trinity Daughtery, the barista, who complimented her on her shoes. While she was at the shopping center, Brianna bought a Lord Sponge item for her desk at home and a telescope, because she thought they were "chef's kiss."
Brianna attended a logic class that day, because she wanted to, then went to the festival. There she joined a hotdog eating contest.
Pictured left to right: Becky Wonzy, Briana, Lynne Grubb, and Ada Stockton. (The baby is Steve Stockton who will appear later in this episode. I remembered that Lynne Grubb is Lynne Talbot who was the wealthy woman who lived in the big house on the hill and was a bot builder, the creator of Prototype 007, the town's only simbot. She married the quirky second-rate magician Riley Grubb. I hadn't visited them for awhile, so I switched to that family. Apparently a lot had happened while I was away.
I hadn't hung out with the Talbot tribe since episodes 5 to 7, so I had to go back and refresh my memory. She always admired the big house on the hill, and after inheriting some money from her parents, she quit her job at the bookstore and bought the house. She wanted to fill the house with family, which she clearly did. The house was at capacity: Lynne and her husband Riley, adopted son Ellis and his wife Kathy (Lum) Talbot and their teenage son Alexis, Prototype 007, Lyndsey (daughter of Aleksey Nair from a one-night stand before Lynne met Riley), and Lyndsey's infant daughter Griselda, whose father is Leif Wonzy. They also have two dogs and a cat.
I decided to focus on Lindsey and Griselda. Lindsey is a level 2 journalist, clumsy, charismatic, grumpy, a mooch, and a cat person. She must have been influenced by her mother Lynne, because she wants to be a high-tech collector. She also wants to get married but there's no room for Leif in the house, so I think it's time for her and Griselda and Leif to get their acts together and get their own house.
I had Lindsey ask Leif out and propose to him.
Mission accomplished, but I'm not sure this relationship will last. While Lindsey was playing darts with another sim, Leif was flirting with Shonda Womack and giving her flowers.
He seemed to have come from his senses and he and Lynne went out to celebrate their engagement at the Old Mill.
Since Lindsey lives in a big house with a fancy garden, she decided to hold the wedding there.
The guests had arrived and were milling about waiting for the ceremony to start.
I clicked on the arch to start the ceremony, but was told Leif was not on the lot! Lindsey called him up.
"Where are you? The party is starting!"
Jeremy Lu, the bald guy and best man, to the rescue! (I think he's Leif's brother-in-law, but I have to check.)
Apparently Jeremy tracked Leif down and talked him into showing up. (I saw Leif slinking out of an upstairs bedroom, so maybe he was working up the courage to come down and face Lyndsey.
Jeremy is making sure Leif apologizes to his bride. "Do you have something you want to say to Lindsey, Leif?"
"I'm sorry, babe. I guess the realization that I'm a father and soon will be a husband was just too overwhelming. I freaked out and got cold feet. Forgive me. If you still want to get married, lets git-er-done!"
"I can't believe Jeremy had to drag him kicking and screaming to the alter for me. How embarrassing!"
***That being said, the ceremony itself had some technical difficulties. I don't know if the problem was with the chairs, the arch, the cake, or something else, but the "get married" interaction broke. We had the ceremony - a couple times actually - and even tried the "have a private wedding" interaction, but they weren't showing as married and they couldn't cut the cake because they weren't recognized as married. I fixed it later by reseting the town, merging Lindsey and Griselda with the Wonzy family, having a private wedding, and moving them to the house next door to the Wonzys. But here are the wedding pictures.
As Leif waited at the arch for his bride, he contemplated if that kiss under the full moon wasn't a bad idea. Perhaps that's what landed him in this situation.
Prototype 007 seems to know it was Holden Wonzy, the father of the groom. Holden is glaring at him, daring him to say anything.
It looks like Lynne Talbot-Grubb, the mother of the bride has reached the same conclusion as Prototype 007.
Jeremey Lu smells it too! That's enough of this childish behavior, guys, lets get on with the ceremony!
Thanks for bringing the paper, buddy, but now isn't the time. This is the point where I changed the chairs hoping people would now SIT DOWN! Maybe this is what broke the wedding.
Ceremony completed but Ellis is still wondering where the smell is coming from and the cat thinks someone didn't make it to the litterbox.
Meanwhile, Lynne seems to be upset with Jeremy for bringing Leif to the wedding. Perhaps she doesn't approve of her new son-in-law.
The throwing of the rice. Even if the game didn't recognize the marriage, I've got witnesses that it went down!
As I mentioned earlier, after some strategic manipulation, the new couple moved into this house next to the Wonzy family. The house is called Alice 30. I stayed with the family long enough for Griselda to age to a toddler and the couple to get the house fully furnished.
Brie Lu, Leif's sister is a very attentive auntie to Griselda. Free babysitting, I'm thinking! Jeremy Lu apparently wears a toupee when he's working. He still had his work clothes on when he came over.
Becky Wonzy was here briefly but left suddenly. I think she's grieving the loss of her husband Holden, who died a few days earlier.
Auntie Brie would not put little Griselda down. Lyndsey and I were both wondering if she would take Griselda home with her.
"Oh, how much?" Brie asked.
"I was only kidding!" Lyndsey said, feeling a little perturbed.
Leif is level 3 in the athletic career. He wants to be a Martial Arts Master, but at this time he didn't have the skills yet. Leif is overemotional, disciplined, a technophobe, athletic, and an equestrian (but they don't have a horse.) Since he wanted to be a Martial Arts Master, I sent him to the local dojo to get some skills. Others were there, including Jebidiah Thacker and Marcel Funke. Jebidiah works in law enforcement, so I assume he is brushing up on his self defense skills to improve his job performance.
Jeb thinks Marcel is a dumb-dumb. They got into an argument while we were here. Maybe it has to do with Marcel wearing dress shoes when practicing martial arts.
Jeb is a strange and unpredictable man. After I left Lyndsey and Leif, I went back to Brianna. Brianna is single and nurturing, and her house has a nursery, so I figured she needed to get out and meet some people and find a mate. When she was out one night, she met Jeb. They seemed to hit it off at first and I thought he might be a potential love interest, but he blew it.
Brianna walked away totally creeped out. She went to sing some karaoke to get her mind off the incident. New rule: no more meeting men out alone in the dark, even if they are officers of the law!
I seem to be more interested in finding Brianna a mate than she seems to be. After that incident, I guess I understand why. She does feel a little unfulfilled, however. When I first switched over to her, I found her out at the farmer's market spilling her guts to little Steve Stockton. She must be desperate to be asking the advice of a child, but little Steve seems to be wise beyond his years.
"Don't get me wrong, Stevie, I do love my job working with you kids at the school, but I just feel like something is missing in my life.
"Have you considered taking up a hobby? How about painting? You can use it as an outlet for your feelings, and it could give you a sense of accomplishment as well," Steve advised.
"That is very good advice, Stevie. By the way, we got the standardized test scores back yesterday, and you scored very high. You have a very bright future if you find a direction and follow it persistently. You are a natural counselor. Have you considered becoming a mental health professional when you grown up?"
"Just make sure no one steals money from your jar," Brianna advised.
"I'll be careful. Besides, my dad is just over there at the vegetable cart, so he'll make sure no one takes advantage of me," Steve said confidently.
** Actually, I'm only assuming Steve is Malik Stockton's kid because they share the same name. I'll need to check Steve's family tree to make sure. Note to self: When Steve ages up, set him up as a psychiatrist in town.**
Brianna bought some items from Malik and told him that Steve was a very bright boy.
After her talk with Steve, Brianna got the want to learn to paint and take a painting class, so I guess she's taking his advice. The night was relatively young, and the art studio was nearby, so she thought she'd get a start on learning to paint.
As Brianna was painting, in walks this old woman in formal attire with face paint on. I wonder what her story is. Her name is Venus Lum. I don't remember a Venus Lum. I had Brianna introduce herself.
There was another old woman who wanted to get in on the conversation. Maybe these women were having a girls' night out. They both seem dressed up for some special occasion.
To do:
- Find out who Steve Stockton's parents are and visit the family for a bit.
- Find out how Venus Lum is related to the Lum family.
- Improve Brianna's painting skills and help her find a mate.
