North Winds Reboot - Part 5 - Goodbye Twinbrook, Hello Strangtown
It wasn't until day 54 that the North Wind came calling. The younger generations, Calvin and Angelo, were starting to wonder if the North Wind curse was really a thing. They had fallen into a false sense of security.
Lolly seems to have developed a wandering eye, finding herself attracted to all sorts of men.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the following night a burglar came and took several of their plumbing fixtures and their oven.
Cho heard a noise and went to investigate. She couldn't beat up the burglar, so she called the police and followed the burglar around the house.
The police finally showed up and there was a scuffle.
This is the first time I've ever seen the police lose a fight! Sometimes the burglars escape them, but when a fight ensues, I think the cop wins a majority of the time.
"Shouldn't you be on desk duty or something?" Cho wondered. "This sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen!"
Old Maxwell is getting a little lonely, I think. He's gone a long time without a lady-friend because he grew tired of having to leave them behind. But recently he took interest in the consignment specialist (see the previous episode), and he drew an admirer of his martial arts skills the other day while he was at the gym. Her name is Blaise Kindle.
When he was finished breaking oak boards, Blaise asked him if he would like to go watch the stars with her.
They had a great time together, but the woman Maxwell is most interested in is Zo Wheloff whom he met at the junk yard one afternoon.
They went to the consignment store together, and she made sure he knew she was interested in him as well.
He had just eaten a jellybean, which is why he's glowing. He just can't help himself when he sees one.
On another occasion, Maxwell took her out for bowling and dinner.
It was the night of a full moon, as luck would have it. I don't think she was impressed with his table manners because she made a point of eating at a separate table, but she did enjoy dancing with him.
Maxwell might be getting some senior moments these days. He's prone to risky behavior that could get him killed. In addition to jellybeans, he also thought it was a good idea to detonate the broken computer IN THE HOUSE!
Soon little Angelo aged up to a teen.
Angelo is excitable, brave, a workaholic, and childish. He's also not doing well in school despite being a workaholic. To be fair, school has been closed down for quite some time due to this year's "snowpocalyse" - the heavy snows just don't let up.
Luckily, there is a new venue in town. MakerSpace is a great place to go if you are an artist or inventor. There you can make use of equipment you might not have room for in your own home and create all kinds of artistic items. (This was made from C J Play's most recent shell challenge.)
Angelo's birthday was followed by Snowflake day. Lolly and Calvin had been trying for a baby. I think Lolly realized she might be pregnant during the party.
I can't remember what Maxwell got, but he was happy about it. (Calvin is in the background still grousing about getting coal.😉)
Later that night, Cho was asked out on a date by Joey Christenson, the mascot. (I gave him a makeover.) They met up and made some snowmen.
Don't they know they should never discuss marriage on the first date? No wonder the conversation deteriorated!
Soon after the Snowflake day party, Lolly told Calvin he was going to be a father again. Calvin hoped that he would be around to help Lolly raise the child but was glad that she wouldn't be left all alone if he and Angelo disappeared one day.
Nash seemed pretty happy about not being the baby of the family any longer. It wasn't long until baby Walter was born. Walter is perceptive and eccentric.
Prom was coming up, and Angelo decided to ask his friend Rose Marie Bull to go with him. She said she would. They then went on a date to the Red Rendezvous Arcade. I thought they'd have a good time and left them to it while I spent time with other family members. Apparently they had a "bad date." I went to check on what was going on. Rose Marie had gone home, and Angelo was playing tag with Consuelo Goode. They then had something to eat and played some video games together.
That night Angelo won 1711 simoleons from the claw machine! I'm letting him keep it in his inventory to spend on something special down the road. Maybe a car.
Despite having a good time with Consuelo, Angelo still thinks Rose Marie is the girl for him. They went on another date. This time they had more fun.
However, the next morning, Maxwell, Calvin, and Angelo started getting an uneasy feeling. Calvin explained to Angelo that within 24 hours they would wake up in a new place, and they could not turn back or make contact with the rest of the family again or it would put their family's lives in jeopardy.
Angelo couldn't believe he'd never be able to see Nash again.
"Believe it or not, Angelo, I know how you feel. I was about your age when we dropped into this place.
I'm surprised I got to stay here as long as I did and got to marry your mother and have you and little Walter. My best advice to you is not to tell anyone, and just live this last day here to the fullest. Go to prom with your girl and have a good time.
While Maxwell and Calvin made plans for a smooth exit, Angelo made a point to touch base with all the others saying a secret goodbye to each.
At the prom she asked him to go steady. He didn't know what to do, so he said yes. After all, his dad did say to make the most of the day. He also won prom king as is typical.
Cho was the only one left behind who knows what's going to happen because Kyngston told her once by way of explaining why it was better not to marry but make the most of their time together. After prom, I split the family and saved Cho, Nash, Lolly, and Walter to the bin. Maybe they'll move to my Riverview save. Or maybe they'll move to Roaring Heights. We'll see.
As for the boys, they are off to new adventures.
I spun the wheel of names randomizer, and they will be landing in Strangetown. I had some sims visit it briefly once, but didn't fully explore it. I adjusted the town with the edited lots I did in the previous game.
They found this furnished house, but it only had two bedrooms. They set up the tent in the back yard in case someone wanted to sleep outside. (Calvin loves the outdoors, so maybe he will prefer it.)
Angelo asked the paper girl if it was always this sunny. She explained that it's not always the case. Sometimes it's cloudy, and they might even get a bit of snow once in a while.
They spent the first day (which was a Sunday) just settling in and preparing for the week. The place they bought had broken pipes in the bathroom, so Calvin took care of that problem.
The next night was the night of a full moon. Nothing is stranger than Strangetown on a full moon.
Who should show up but zombie Bella Goth! Of course Maxwell was out and about in his werewolf form when he met her.
Then Maxwell went to check out the gym as he was full of energy and couldn't sleep. I noticed this weird shadow on the wall of the gym and looked all around trying to see what was casting it, but couldn't find anything. Spooky!
Maxwell got in a good workout, despite the zombies. He also met Circe Beaker, and they really hit it off.
The Beakers are the ones who perform cruel experiments on Nervous Subject. I'm not sure he should be getting that cozy with her.
As morning broke, Angelo was psyching himself up for his first day at a new school. He was really nervous as he never had to switch schools before.
The day must have gone okay for him. He came home with a classmate, Johnny Smith, and before the day was over, they were friends.
