Life in Pleasantville - Part 1
Pleasantville is a very small town created by Boring Bones. It was a collaboration with his community, and they built it in 35 days. I think only the hospital was furnished. CJ Plays featured it as one of his world overviews, Pleasantville world overview , and is now making videos where he's furnishing each building. It was such a cute and small world that it felt manageable to play along, furnishing each building he does before watching his videos and seeing how similar or different our visions for the build turn out to be. I enjoy CJ's furnishing videos because he comes up with interesting backstories for characters he envisions living in the spaces.
This world needed rabbithole rugs added to the buildings created to house them, so I added those right away but haven't furnished the buildings yet.
This is the town Austin Butler (son of Sandi French of Sunset Valley and Bernie Butler of the University world) and his wife Kathy La Mer (daughter of Bunny La Mer and Jeff Smith of Barnacle Bay) have just moved to. They bought this little house that came with a blue car. We'll just say it's Kathy's company car given to her when she took the job at City Hall.
The upper floor has a bedroom, bathroom, and room for a desk where Austin can write his books. I had to bump out the wall in the master bedroom because there wasn't a room big enough for a double bed in this house.
The ground floor has a small kitchen and living area. Since this picture was taken, I have added a small bistro table and two chairs in the living area along the stairs, so they would have a table for dining.
Across the street from the house is a lot that Boring Bones labeled as a cafeteria (which is a lot from Into the Future and wasn't functioning the way I wanted, so I designated it as a java hut.) I turned it into three different dining options: an Irish themed coffee shop, an Asian restaurant, and an Italian restaurant.)
Even in this remote little town, the paparazzi find him.
Then it was on to the movie theater. (CJ has done this one Movie Theater video .) Here's my version.
The aggressive one is Lora Cutler and her "victim" is Clarissa Coles. Lora kept slapping poor Clarissa over . . .
Of the two, Kathy really wanted to befriend aggressive Lora. Maybe she wanted to see what made her tick. Kathy learned quickly that Clarissa has no sense of humor, but that's not true of Lora.
The Butlers live on a block that has a kids' playground in the middle, so I figured we needed some kids to play there. The next house I furnished was this one.
The size is deceiving. It's really just one floor of living space. However, I managed to squeeze two bedrooms out of it.
The kids' room has a twin bed and a crib, which is good, because as soon as I made this couple and their little girl, the lady of the house up and got pregnant.
Lawrence Benoit: unflirty, neurotic, daredevil, charismatic, and evil. He wants to be the Emperor of Evil, so he should be quite a treat. There is no criminal career here on the island yet, but I'm sure Lawrence will start something up. I just have to decide what kind of front I want for the criminal career. There's another coffee shop in town, and a bar . . . . For now he chose the Education career. I guess they let anyone work at this school - no background checks or anything!
Sweet dreams, Catrina. Their daughter is Danica Benoit, who is a virtuoso, animal lover, and athletic.
The ground level has a kitchen, bedroom, dining area, living area, and bathroom. This house also features an elevator.
The upper floor has a recreation room, bedroom, bathroom, and an outdoor space large enough for a table and chairs.
His long-suffering girlfriend, Melissa Blackmon is also in the Education career, so maybe the couple moved here together to take the teaching jobs no one wanted. What Melissa really wants to do is be a Master of Mysticism. She has a good sense of humor, is a social butterfly, eco friendly, grumpy, and lucky. She has two boys from a previous relationship, (but I forgot about my plan and used random genetics, so they may have some resemblance to that no-account Garrett as they grow up.)
Judging by the fact that Alex wanted to hang out with Garrett and has the same purple highlights as Garrett, I think it's safe to assume that he wants to be just like Garrett when he grows up. So far Alex has a good sense of humor, loves the heat, and is artistic.
I assume, since Billy chose to stay home rather than go to the movies, that he isn't a fan of Garrett. Billy is a workaholic, vehicle enthusiast, and party animal. It's hard to tell which one will be the biggest troublemaker when he gets older. I'm also curious to see which of the brothers Danica Benoit forms the closest relationship with.
There's a freeze level or some CFE voodoo, so this house only has one level despite it looking larger.
I hate the picture on the wall in this shot and never use it, but somehow, this seems to work in this situation.
The pictures on the wall really help brighten up this dark bedroom. I don't know what to tell you about the hole in the ceiling. Going a floor up doesn't show the hole.
I love the tree thingy on the back wall. I usually use in in coffee shops. It's found under lighting of all things.
