North Winds Reboot Part 3 - Life in Twinbrook
So we are on day 37 and still in Twinbrook. The randomizer has been reduced from 1-20 to 1-15. If I roll a 10, the heirs have to move to the next town. If they are here for 40 days, the randomizer will be reduced to 1-10. Here are the highlights from the past few weeks.
Calvin and Lolly have been getting more serious. They are spending a lot of time together.
They risky woohoo'd in the movie theater.
You'd think that Calvin would be content with a pretty girlfriend, but not long after this dream date, Calvin found himself at Mick's because he wanted to sing karaoke with Eva Drudge, . . .
and ran into Scout Sargent. Scout is a married woman; nevertheless, I caught her and Calvin autonomously flirting and sparking, . . . .
so to hedge my bets and see that Calvin produced an heir, I nudged them to the photobooth for some risky woohoo.
Perhaps Lolly's Calvin's love, but Scout is his muse. He sure likes sketching her. . . .
Nice job, Calvin. She loved it.
However, a short while later, Calvin came to the realization he needed to man up an be responsible in his relationships.
News reached him that Lolly had given him a son. Knowing that the curse would force the boy to travel, it was up to Calvin to ensure the baby was with the rest of the cursed when the time came, so he wouldn't find himself alone and uncared for. Calvin tracked down Lolly and the baby and moved them in with him.
Meanwhile, Calvin's father, the famous singer Kyngston Maloney, had a milestone birthday. The family had a party for him at the house.
(I changed his hair back to bright red, but left some gray in it.) The party was an epic success. Calvin doesn't think showbusiness is for him, but he does like karaoke, and he's learning the guitar because that's what you do when your grandfather is a rockstar and your dad is a famous singer.
The old rock-n-rollers, Maxwell-the-wolfman and Andre DeWolfe sang a duet. When the party died down, Calvin asked his old man if he'd like to go out for a drink and a game of pool.
A few days later, baby Angelo grew into a toddler.
Kyngston made a difficult decision. While he loved the limelight and enjoyed his success. . .
performing was getting more and more difficult. Kyngston learned the hard way that he couldn't do the sweet moves he once did on stage without risking injury.
After a few more stellar performances, Kyngston decided to quit while he was ahead.
It looks like he's set for life anyway.
It seems Kyngston's next project is to improve his handiness skill. The night Cho informed him that he was going to be a father, the hot tub broke, and he tried to fix it. It caught fire!

The flames were seen from far and wide, drawing various neighbors including Kat Hunter, Bill Racket, and even the proprietor from the Mick's across the street.

The household was in a panic, but luckily Buck Green had the presence of mind to work on extinguishing the flames.

The proprietor also did his part in trying to douse the flames. In time, the crisis was over, and the people went back to what they were doing.
This incident prompted Kyngston to want to sell that dumb hot tub, and Maxwell to want to make the fireplace fireproof. Both wishes were granted, but Cho wanted her hot tub back, so the family purchased a fancier one that hopefully won't break anytime soon.
The next day, Calvin, despite his awareness that he may have to abandon Lolly soon, decided to propose, since she had been hinting around about it.
Lolly accepted, and it was off to shop for wedding attire. After they bought their garb, they went by the Fall Festival for the afternoon. Calvin ran into their new friend Buck Green, who help them with the hot tub fire the night before. Calvin announced his engagement to Lolly.
"You mean you're engaged to that girl over there?!? Man, her people are mafia thugs, man. You sure you want to get tangled up with that bunch?"
"Surely that's just a rumor," Calvin replied. "I'm sure Lolly would have told me if that was the case."
"Well, I guess it's your life. I just finished a great book that might come in handy for you. It's called How to Avoid Concrete Shoes. You want it?"
"Thanks, but I'm sure it's not necessary. I can't imagine her family is as bad as everyone says. Just look at Lolly. She's perfect!"
There aren't really any places set up for weddings in this town, so Calvin and Lolly decided to get married in the back yard, since it had a nice view of the river and bridge. It was a small wedding. Lolly invited most of her family, except Shark and Uncle Dudley (the black sheep), since she viewed them as enemies. They invited a couple friends, including Buck Green.
Before the wedding, Calvin sat out and sketched the scene. It wasn't long before Calvin realized what an uncouth bunch of rabble-rousers his soon-to-be-in-laws really were.
"So YOU'RE the young man who impregnated my granddaughter and never bothered to marry her until your child was a toddler!" Marigold snarked.
"Don't rain on my parade today! I'm stepping up and taking responsibility aren't I?"
This was supposed to be a formal affair, but the Rackets felt it was a pool party - or rather a hot tub party. At least Silver wore a swimsuit. That couldn't be said of all the Racket clan.
The father of the groom chose to go in the buff. "If I knew there'd be a hot tub, I would have brought swim trunks, but how was I to know?! It wasn't on the invitations!
Calvin realizes you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. He goes to ask Lolly if she's ready to tie the knot.
Just before the ceremony started, I got this message.
I certainly hope sims are catching on! They are headed to the alter right this minute!
The couple waited for the guests to take their seats.
Calvin: "Her family is so embarrassing!"
Lolly: "I'm so glad I don't have to live with them anymore!"
Maxwell is moved to tears watching his grandson get married. That is until he looks over at the father of the bride.
We had some party crashers - Sinbad Rotter must have been invited by the Racket family; he's probably a "made man." Justin Kayes also showed up. Maybe he just wanted some free food?
Another party crasher was Lolly's estranged Uncle Dudley, who DRESSED APPROPRIATELY, and sat quietly in the back. What a sweet old man. I'm going to try and get him and Lolly to make up.
While Lolly seemed disturbed that an "enemy" was in her midst, she also had the wish to cook Dudley's favorite meal. Luckily Dudley is a man of simple tastes and favors hotdogs. So with the buffet table serving veggie rolls, sushi, and cookies, Lolly added to the fare by cooking up some hotdogs for Uncle Dudley and trying to hold a civil conversation with him. I was cueing up friendly interactions, but once in awhile, Lolly would autonomously give him a mean high-five while I was looking for the next interaction.
Dudley is contemplating a fight; Sinbad is checking out his boss; and Calvin's in-laws are giving him a headache.
It looks like the brothers put aside their differences and sat down together to eat cake.
Lolly sat with her grandmother, father-in-law, and grandfather-in-law.
"Calvin, Lolly, your kid wet all over my suit! Can you take him while I go get changed?"
Mother/daughter parenting disagreement. Dudley eating his hotdog. Just when I was bragging on how well-behaved Dudley was, as soon as the party was over, he does this:
I tried; I really did.
The party's over and the Rackets have gone home. Lolly is relieved.
Time for some "me time" while Calvin grabs the last of the hotdogs.
Cho gave birth to a son and named him Nash. Nash will be staying behind with his mother when the North Wind calls, but I wanted to see what he would look like when he grew up because his parents have very different features.
Cho
Kyngston
Nash all grown up.
He definitely takes after Cho I don't see any Kyngston in him at all! It's probably just as well since Kyngston's kinda funny-lookin'. Now I'm intrigued. I'll need to save him and Cho and maybe Lolly and any kids she has to the bin an drop them into another game to see how they fare.
Lolly doesn't have any "spare" kids at this point but that could change if she and Calvin keep this up.
I'll close with a quick update on what Maxwell has been up to. Maxwell was recently invited to a party. There he got into a confrontation with Lolly's grandfather who seemed to be gunning for a fight.
Max, (Lolly's grandfather, not Maxwell,) might just have been upset over his relationship with his wife and was simply taking it out on Maxwell. Who knows?
However, at the same party, Maxwell met Renee William-Brown, and they got along very well. Maxwell had a wish to kiss her.
They reached friend level and he kissed her, but she got mad because she was with someone.
Renee looks older than Maxwell, but Maxwell took an age potion, so he's older than he looks. He will be an elder (again) soon anyway. Now he has to decide if it's worth breaking up a relationship for something he knows can't last long due to the North Wind Curse.
