Riverview Updated Part 7 - Attention-Seeking Becky; Here Come the Brides.

This town has two "mean girls" or should I say "mean women" - Lily Lum and Bree Lu. Bree came to Riley's house party, and they were getting along surprisingly well despite her earlier behavior when he was performing his act in the park.

For a minute, I thought they might even become friends - that is until she implied his mother was a llama. Oh, well.

Riley's a mooch, and Sabrina is not amused.

I mentioned earlier that he won the lottery. He bought that pool table with the winnings, along with this car.

Riley was out performing for tips the other day, when I spotted Becky (Baker) Wonzy waddling around with yet another bun in the oven.

I swear she just gave birth at her delayed-wedding-reception party a few days ago.

I went to check on the Wonzy household to make sure there were enough cribs and discovered that Topher had become engaged to Malika Williams. This is a perfect opportunity to try out my little mixed-use experiment in the Riverwalk Shops area. But more on that later.

I also checked in on the Talbots and found that Ellis had aged up to a teen, and Lynne's baby Lindsey was about to be a toddler, so Lynne threw a birthday party and invited all her friends and acquaintances.

She and Riley were really hitting it off!

Hi Becky. I'm glad you could make it.

It's time to blow out the candles and have some cake. Becky, must you do that NOW?!?

You're timing couldn't be worse! (I was worried the game would crash with too many things going on at once.)

"Oh, Becky! Always wanting to be the center of attention! Leave it to her to make my child's birthday all about herself!"

"Just ignore her, everyone. Come have some cake. I'm sure she can get herself to the hospital."

There she goes. She gave birth to a baby girl and named her Brie. Meanwhile, the party goes on.

Cory arrived a little late and missed all the action. Lynne is apologizing for Becky's rudeness. The nerve of her going into labor at a time like this!

As the party progressed, Lynne and Riley got more and more romantic, finally engaging in some shower woohoo.

They started seeing each other after that. Now it's time to get Topher and Malika hitched. They held the wedding at the Tribune building where Becky and Holden were married. I wanted to make sure I fixed all the routing issues. The wedding went okay, I guess. Topher was really hungry and kept trying to go get some juice out of the journalism breakroom and had to be redirected, and Malika felt like she needed a cup of coffee before starting the wedding.

I thought he was waiting for his bride, but really he just wanted to get some juice.

Holden seem a little irritated about Malika delaying the wedding while she drinks her coffee. He must have somewhere he needs to be later.

The music was provided by Aimee Williams, the mother of the bride. It must be a sim tradition in Riverview for the mother of the bride or groom to have this task, because it also happens in the other wedding in this episode.

Attention-seeking Becky felt it was appropriate to wear her own wedding dress to her son's wedding. It also seems to be a tradition for recent brides to do so. (I should remember to give them a different formal outfit or remove the wedding dresses after the wedding.)

Okay, everyone, find your seats! Let's get this thing started. There are plenty of chairs and they are spaced far enough apart, so stop whining! If the seat is taken, choose another one!

There are chairs right in front of you, people!

Well, almost everyone sat down . . . .

Gwen, you're blocking my shot!

Despite everything, it was a nice ceremony.

"Cut the cake, babe, I'm about to starve to death!"

The couple even ate together this time.

Supper was served, and Malika made some drinks. I think the guests had a good time.

Topher purchased a storage shed at Riverwalk, and showed his new bride their apartment.

Topher got a call late at night from his mother Becky, who asked him if he wanted to hang out.
"Mom, it's my wedding night. No. I do not want to hang out with you tonight!"

The next morning, Elaine Diehl strolled in without knocking. I guess she wanted to bring the couple some morning coffee, as she left the tray on the coffee table and left. Thanks, Elaine! How thoughtful!

A little risky woohoo, and guess what?

When you first realize you got knocked-up on your wedding night.

All in all, the experiment went pretty well. Of course, they have to be redirected to the apartment, but once there, they settle in pretty well. They get the wish to buy things like a bed and a fridge, but I just dismiss those wishes. They spend a lot of time browsing the consignment store and Makila autonomously does laundry from time to time.

She also took a liking to the fiddle down in the consignment store and serenaded Topher. She played terribly, but Topher appreciated the effort.

Malika shoplifted the fiddle, but I made her put it back and purchase it. I've found this to be a problem with the fiddle and things like frisbees and soccer balls. Sims pick them up on public lots and don't return them.

They settled into domestic life. They are strapped for cash as both are taking time off for their honeymoon/staycation, and it looks like most of the money was spent on the wedding.

Malika suggested they go fishing since they didn't have to go into work. Becky keeps calling Topher asking him to hang out, but he thinks fishing with his bride is a better option.

It was on the fishing trip that Malika broke the news of her pregnancy to Topher, who was thrilled, but knew they needed to quickly make some money and get their own home. Living in the apartment was fine for two adults, but a baby would really complicate things. They spent a lot of time at the festival picking flowers and made frequent trips to the grocery store to buy lotto tickets, hoping to strike it rich. I think they got a couple thousand dollars from the lotto, but most money came from picking flowers and collecting gems. I also think they got some paid time off from their jobs, and their bills were only one simoleon, so that helped a lot. By the time baby Robert was born, they managed to buy a small lot next door to the gym and build a modest house.

At first I decorated with only the cheap appliances and bathroom and lighting fixtures, along with their wedding gifts and a couple dumpster finds, but then realized they had a few thousand left over to spend, so I upgraded their living situation.

Here are their wedding gifts.

I put the snowman in the attic since it's summer at the moment.

Here's the finished living area.

The bedroom, bathroom, and nursery are all pretty basic, so I didn't bother taking screenshots of them.
This generation is getting engaged and married, and I have had several notices about it.

I know Jameel was living with JoAnn and her husband Dante Levin and thought since he's married now that maybe those couples should each get their own place.

Riley vacated his place to move in with Lynne (autonomously). So I was thinking one of them could move there. However, when I went to the household, I realized they were stinking rich, so I had JoAnn buy another house (The Dunwoody) and move in there. Dante was still just a roommate even though he and JoAnn are married. He had to be dismissed, then invited over. He was still homeless, so I couldn't merge him - maybe I should have waited longer. I just had her ask him to be her roommate again, so I still don't control him, but I don't really care, since I'm bouncing from house to house and he's an elder now anyway.

I don't know what the CC windows of this house looked like, but they were all replaced with arches, I liked the look, so replace the arches with windows of about the same size in most places and put the Into the Future high windows in the garage and kitchen where the big windows didn't seem practical.

JoAnn and Dante seem content here.

I'll leave them to settle in. Malik Stockton and Carol Funke have just gotten engaged, and I want another wedding. This time it will be at the church. I checked both households to see who had the most money, and it was the Stockton family. I sent Malik out to purchase a home for him and his new bride. He chose the Walker, conveniently located next door to Carol's parent's house.

Again, the CC windows were replaced with the same arches as those on the Dunwoody, so I chose some I thought would fit this particular house.

Carol made a trip down to the Riverwalk Shops and bought herself a wedding dress. I think she looks stunning.

She then went to the market to buy a lotto ticket, and Lawrence Lum came on to her, asking her if she'd like to go with him to see a movie. First she said, "no, I've got some plans for the night," but then she smiled and said "Alright."

At which point he was turned off, thinking she was a spooky little girl. Becky disapproved of Lawrence's behavior. Lawrence and Carol went back and forth flirting and getting turned off. Lawrence, by the way, is married to Carol's sister Irene, aka "Crazy Irene." I decided to get Carol out of there and sent her to the park across the street, only for Lawrence to follow her there.

Luckily, Crazy Irene was also there, so he had to behave himself. Crazy Irene thinks she's a psychic, and is forewarning Carol that a fire will disrupt her wedding. Oh, Irene, you are crazy. How could that possibly happen?

Carol enthused about her upcoming wedding to Irene, who saw only gloom and doom.

The day of the wedding arrived, and Malik arrived early with the wedding cake and waited for the guests to arrive. I was getting nervous too, since I was only controlling him at the time and was hoping that Carol would manage to get herself to the church on time and dressed appropriately. Luckily, she did.

Just as the ceremony was about to begin, in stumbles Sabrina Funke, the mother of the bride.

"Hi, y'all! I had a little mishap with a fire, but I managed to make it to my youngest daughter's wedding on time! I'm OKAY!" (I guess Crazy Irene was at least partially right.)

At first the guests claimed they couldn't get to their seats - what a bunch of LIARS! Then some of them started wondering about the state of Sabrina and whether she shouldn't have just taken a shower and arrived late instead of worrying about being on time.

Lawrence even had the nerve to make fun of her! She tried sitting in the back to keep from drawing attention to herself.

Since the mother of the bride was in no condition to provide the music, the mother of the groom, Justine Stockton, took over the duties, accompanied by the bride's father Rhett.

Sit down, mean girls; you're blocking my shot!

That's better.

Lily, Sabrina's physical state is really none of your business!

Crazy Irene refused to wear her formal wear (from the insane trait.) I checked to see if I just needed to change her in Master Controller, but nope. That's what she chose to wear to her sister's wedding.

For the next wedding I think I'll set up some tables in the choir loft. I thought people would just sit in the chairs, but most of them took their cake to other rooms to eat it. At least the bride and groom ate together.

Carol thanked her mother-in-law for filling in for the music since Sabrina was "indisposed."

"Now, baby girl, if Malik ever mistreats you, you come running next door to us, okay?

Some quiet time with Dad.

Listening to music at the reception. (Carol is definitely the prettiest of the two sisters.)

After the party and everyone went home, I got a few interesting notifications.

It looks like Malik's little brother Eric is getting hitched next. I hope Ada's family has a lot of money, because I think I cleaned the Stockton's out buying this house for Malik.

Oh, oh. It looks like Rhett and Sabrina got into it after the wedding. Did it have to do with the condition Sabrina was in at the wedding? Has this been a long time coming and that was the last straw?

I was looking around town at something, and despite it being her wedding night, Carol must have gotten wind of her parents' fight and ran next door to try and smooth things out between them.

Several autonomous friendly hugs, here. "Your caterer did an incredible job. Your wedding was beautiful. I'm glad I didn't miss it."
I don't know where Rhett was. He was either not home or in bed. Maybe he went to sleep in one of those rooms above the bakery they own. At any rate, I set up a nursery in case a baby comes along before I get back to the new Stockton couple. I also put in a simple guest room in case one of the parents needs to move in at some point.

"Curse that fire!"

Weddings weren't the only events going on in town. It appears the summer festival had a "Bring Your Pets" day and the McHugh family took their entire herd of cats.

Boo is the black cat in the back, then left to right, we have Tigger, Poppy (the light colored one) EvilGenius, and Turbo. I think Turbo is the parent as she was Regan McHugh's original kitten.

Riley Grubb also adopted a pet - a little white dog named Menelaus.

We also had a SimFest over at the performance park. Everywhere I go I see Spencer Funke playing the drums.

Sometimes one of his sisters joins in, but he often just plays wherever and on his own.

During SimFest, however, he was really getting on this singer's nerves. It was her turn to perform, so she booted him off the stage.

I think Riley wanted to play the drums too, but decided to wait until the singer was finished.

Finally, since I moved JoAnn and Dante Levin out of Jameel and Andrea's house, I thought I'd see how Andrea and Jameel were doing. Their house is still mostly empty as JoAnn took all their money when she moved. I'll give them time to build up some funds before I try tackling that house. It appears Dante and JoAnn left their cat behind. The cat seems to be friends with the McHugh cats, who coincidentally live across the street. I sent the cat over to socialize with them since that's what he wanted to do. Then I realized something: this wasn't the house Regan and Gwen McHugh lived in last time I saw them. They moved! Their house was practically empty too, so I helped them furnish it.

Regan left his alchemy station behind in the old house, so I bought him a new one and put it in the small room upstairs, but I think I'll move it because it's clear that little room was intended to be an upstairs bathroom, and there should be a bathroom upstairs.

The McHugh's don't have any children yet - not that every family has to have children, but I might hang around a bit to see if either of them get the wish to have any.

I'll leave off here with a few random pictures from around town.

A quick bagel before the wedding.
