Riverview Updated Part 6 - The younger generation pairs up; the housing crisis

It looks like Lynne has had a prenatal checkup.

I spotted her coming out of the hospital while I was following Eric Stockton. Eric and Ada Lu have been seeing a lot of each other and have decided to go steady (from story progression.)

Ada's older sister Melissa has moved out, and I found her living with the Funkes. She is Spencer's girlfriend.

I figured Spencer found it pretty cringy woohooing in his childhood bedroom of his parents' house and would be wanting to move out with Melissa to their own little love nest. The problem was all the houses on the market were out of their meager price range.

I built a few more cheaper options thinking they would move into one of them.

This little starter cottage is cute and priced within their budget. Unfortunately, before they could put in a bid for the house it got snapped up by Tory Anders, the clothing merchant at the Riverwalk Shops.

Tory is a couch potato with a good sense of humor, a party animal, angler, and perfectionist. That's all I know of him so far.

Another house in the same area is this mini-mansion started by a couple wanting to build their dream house.

However, the pressure of building it caused a rift in their marriage, they ran out of money, and got a divorce. It has all the walls, flooring and stairs needed, but lacks light fixtures, counters, appliances, and plumbing. Still, it was out of the price range for Spencer and Melissa.

Another option was Stoney Cottage.

Unfortunately, like the starter cottage, this one was snapped up by someone else. The owner of Stoney Cottage is Riley Grubb, a wannabe magician who has taken a liking to the fiddle.

Riley has a good sense of humor, is adventurous, athletic, a mooch, and lucky. It must have been luck that got him the house and also helped him win several thousand dollars in the lottery. We'll be following Riley around a little while later.

In the end, Spencer and Melissa bought a lot and built a modest house on it.

I've been wanting to test out this mixed-purpose option for awhile, so we'll give it a try with some of teens who will soon be aging up to young adults and wanting to move out.

I put 3 10x10 lots behind the Riverwalk building that was originally intended to be a hotel. I figured the young adults could buy one of the lots and go there for their mail but stay in one of the small apartments above the shops. The only problems I see is I don't think they can lock their doors to keep other people out, and they might up and move if I'm not currently controlling them.

For now, let's go back to the Lu family. Bree, the mother of Ada and Melissa, has had some trying days lately. First, she was abducted by aliens.

It was a very traumatic experience. (By the way, it was Lynne Talbot's alien friend who abducted her.) Bree found solace from her little dog Charlie.

He's so cute! The next trial poor Bree had to face was getting older. Her birthday arrived.

She had a simple party at home, inviting some friends and acquaintances, many of whom entertained with their musical instruments.

She got a new hairstyle for her birthday.

She's thinking about her toddler, Jeremy, at the moment. Soon he will be the only child left in the house.

Ada's already telling her dad she's in love with Eric Stockton and that she's not a child anymore.

Let's take a quick look at the Stockton family. The patriarch is Hunter Stockton, who is a scientist.

His wife Justine is in the military,  . . .

. . . and they have two teenage sons: Eric, who is Ada Lu's boyfriend, and Malik who has been seeing Carol Funke.

I think Malik is supposed to age up in a day or so.

Now it's time to follow Riley Grubb around and see how he fares as a magician.

He signed up and has been practicing and performing for tips, but he's not making much money at this point and many of his tricks fail.

He met Melissa Lu in the library and tried the coin in the ear trick.

"So in my hand I have this VERY LARGE coin. . . "

"Watch very closely . . ."

"Where did it go?"

"I think it's in your other hand," she said.

"No, that's not it. Oops!"

"Dagnabbit!"

"Um, you didn't see that, right?"

"You just need to practice more," she said.

It's a good thing he won some money in the lottery, because it might be awhile before he makes money as a magician.

Each day he goes to a few different lots and tries his luck.

It looks like the older women are out selling the produce. The woman in the cat sweater is Aimee Williams, and the one in the shorts is mean-spirited Lily Lum.

Lynne Talbot is also tending a cart. I think she's just watching it for a friend who had to use the bathroom, because I see her later across the street where Riley takes his act next.

First he introduces himself. Lynne has clearly had her baby. I may have to go check on that household and see what's up. I spotted Prototype 007 tending a food booth at the festival. He's not even sentient! The town must be desperate for workers.

Anyway, Riley took his act to the fountain park across the street to try his luck there.

It looks like Bree Lu brought baby Jeremy to the park to play in the water.

She wasn't too impressed with Riley's performance, however. On the other hand, Lynne seems to have taken an interest in Riley.

I left off with Riley throwing a house party and inviting all the people he has met so far. Lynne Talbot and Sabrina Funke were chowing down, while Gwen wondered how they could eat all that garbage.
Bree may not like Riley's act, but she seemed to be enjoying dancing with him.

to be continued . . . .
