When we left off, we had just discovered that Holden Wonzy was Becky Baker's new boyfriend. They got together VERY quickly after Becky's vampire boyfriend starved himself to death.
The next day, Holden invited Becky's family out to dinner at Krusteezee's on the River, where he proposed to Becky.
She said yes!
Heathcliff and Svetlana watched from the other side of the room.
Perhaps they thought Holden and Becky were rushing into things, but ultimately they want their little girl to be happy and settled as they aren't getting any younger.
Will this couple make it through the long haul? Only time will tell.
Topher was showing some misgivings about the match, but Holden did his best to reassure him.
As night fell, it became evident that Holden and Becky got engaged during a full moon. Is this a good omen or a bad one? Holden expressed his excitement at becoming part of the Baker family, while Becky quickly started making plans.
I'm sure Topher was mortified at the old folks' public displays of affection. Eww! Gross!
"I want you to actively participate in the planning of this wedding." Becky demanded.
"Yes ma'am. I will do my best." Holden replied.
Due to some routing issues, the original wedding didn't happen as planned. For some reason the guests could enter the event room and sat down, but the bride and groom couldn't cross the threshold. After I did a few adjustments, they tried again the following evening with just the family, and managed.
You guys are killing me!
Topher was doing his homework earlier and now just wants to go to bed.
Becky, what the heck! That is nowhere near the hairdo I gave you for ANY of your outfits. I think it's an issue with this particular wedding arch. I think I used in for Rocco and Mary's wedding in Cape Albacore and Mary changed her hair and outfit too.
It looks like Holden is still working on his relationship with his new stepson. Meanwhile, Becky eats her cake all by herself.
Holden seem more excited about the marriage than Becky does. Is she having second thoughts already?
Has she realized she married a doofus?
Becky and Topher moved in with Holden. We'll revisit them soon.
It seems Lily Lum is the Myra Burkhart of Riverview. She's always picking fights with someone.
I remembered that I got a notification that she and her husband Theodore had twins, and I know their house isn't set up for babies, so I went to to check on them. I found Theodore and Lily making out in the graveyard. . . .
. . . while their little angels were camped out on the front porch of the house without a babysitter in sight.
Lawrence had aged up to an adult, and I guess since he dislikes children, he moved out of the house! It took me awhile to figure out where he was, but he apparently moved in with his girlfriend Irene Funke's family. The problem is there aren't enough beds and Irene is still a teen, so this didn't seem like an appropriate arrangement at all. Therefore I had Lawrence move into his own house.
This is the Alder. It has some replacement items, so I fixed it up a little.
The house is sparsely furnished because I only allowed Lawrence to use the money he had on hand to furnish it, but it was furnished enough to throw a house-warming party.
Lawrence ordered some pizza for everyone. I can't remember the names of all who attended, but the Wonzy's were there. And this woman, Araceli Aaron, came by bring an elaborate dessert.
However, she left before Lawrence could get to know here. She apparently thought the party was lame.
No matter, there were plenty of other women at the party who were interested in Lawrence. (I wish I could remember who they were - I need to take better notes!)
I don't know who this woman was, but she apparently wasn't Lawrence's type.
Becky! You're a newlywed! Where's you husband?
I guess, Holden is taking a page from Michael Bublé's song.
Now you can dance every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye, let him hold you tight
And you can smile every smile for the man
Who held your hand beneath the pale moon light
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me
Holden was in the other room playing video games. I guess he's not much of a dancer.
Cory Lu likes to dance with ALL the girls.
I think Lawrence is interested in joining the clergy. I furnished the old church and let him try his hand at being a pastor one Sunday. His congregation was very small, consisting of only Araceli, the woman who brought the baked angel-food cake to his house-warming party.
Maybe in time he can build his flock. A few days later, after work, Lawrence and Araceli went to the art studio to hang out. Araceli told him a ghost story or two.
The church isn't the only public venue I've been working on. I also continued adding to the red Riverwalk building.
It now has a small grocery store, a clothing store, a bookstore, and a childcare area for shoppers to drop off their kids.
Upstairs is the HiTech Cowboy, a bot emporium. (I needed one because one of the sims I visited wanted to be a bot builder.)
This is Lynne Talbot, a book seller when I joined her. She was the sole resident of Charleston Josiah Smith House, the large mansion on the hill overlooking the town. As a child, Lynne obsessed over the house, vowing that some day when she was a grown-up, she would buy the house for herself. When her parents passed away, they left her enough money that along with her own savings, made it possible to purchase the old manor. She has been gradually getting it furnished, pouring nearly all her earnings into the project.
I have given Lynne a makeover to reflect the "lady of the manor" vibe she wants to project.
Lynne is handy, a party animal, family oriented, a snob, and has a photographer's eye. Her lifetime wish is to master the bot-building skill and create a sentient plumbot. She is rapidly building up her skill as a plumbot creator and has created one she calls Prototype 007, who has the steel chef and efficient cleaner trait chips. She has a cat named Hannah, and has recently adopted a little boy named Ellis, who is adventurous, good, and athletic.
Lynne makes sure Ellis always dressed to the nines, to show his social station as young master of the manor, which sets him apart from the other kids and sometimes makes it difficult for him to fit in. Ellis likes to collect things, especially animals, and his lifetime wish is to be a zoologist which requires catching at least 20 animals from the wild.
Here's animal #1. However, when he caught this critter, there wasn't enough money to purchase a perch, so he let the falcon go.
Recently he has been the main wage earner with his collection of insects, wild flowers, metals, and most recently a genie's lamp he found while exploring the catacombs under the mausoleum. He wished for fortune, which added 100,000 simoleons to the family funds, so Lynne should have no trouble bringing the manor into the luxurious estate she envisions.
In addition to Ellis' room, the manor has a bot-building room upstairs, Lynne's master suite, and another room with twin beds and feminine decor. My plan was for Lynne to adopt more children, but that plan has changed. (More to come on that.)
Lynne was invited to a party at the Wonzy house. It had been several months since Holden and Becky's wedding, but since the original wedding didn't go off as planned, they decided to hold a post-wedding reception at their house, and make an announcement: they were going to have a baby!
Congratulations!
Whoa Becky! Remember you chose Holden over Jameel. You are either betraying Holden or you are giving Jameel false hope!
While the guests danced, Becky prepared a spaghetti supper, which didn't turn out too well.
Then she went into labor right there in the kitchen!
Panic ensued - with the exception of Lynne, who was too disgusted with the state of the kitchen to show much concern.
The guests soon grew bored with the prolonged birth pangs and resumed dancing, leaving poor Becky to suffer alone in the kitchen. NOT COOL, people!
Lynne seems to have taken an interest in Allan Bassett, but later learned he disliked children, so he's not the guy for a family-oriented woman who wants a house full of kids.
The TV was broken, so Lynne decided autonomously to fix it, and no one told her she was being inappropriate.
Meanwhile, Becky finally pushed that baby out. It was a little boy, and she named him Leif.
The party wound down and the guests went home. I decided to stay with the Wonzys because, as cute as this house is, there was no place for a crib. Holden decided it was time to move. The family moved into the McIntosh.
It had some replacement items, so I adjusted the outside. I didn't bother taking pictures of the interior because they are only using the funds they have, and things are pretty sparse at the moment. Everyone has their own room, which is good.
Most people sing their babies lullabies, but not Becky!
Topher was up to his old tricks again.
We'll let the Wonzys settle in to their new home and check back with Lynne Talbot now.
Lynne was working on her bot-building skills late at night when a mysterious visitor arrived.
(Curses! I forgot to write down his name, but he has a semi-normal name for an alien. He was also wearing street-clothes rather than a space suit, which makes me wonder if he is a full alien or only a half alien.)
He and Lynne really hit it off, and I was wondering if the manor might soon be filled with aliens and plumbots, but they didn't get that far in the relationship. Instead they talked about the weather and about family. He left soon after that, but now she has him as a contact and can invite him to her party she plans to throw.
A few days later, Lynne decided to throw a party at the manor, and invited all her friend and several acquaintances. She invited her alien friend, and he showed up with a cobbler, but he placed it on the table and left before Lynne could flag him down.
Lynne put the music on and lighted a fire in the fireplace to make things cozy. She had Prototype 007 prepare some grilled salmon, and served her guests.
As is typical, Becky slow danced with EVERY male in the house.
Then disaster struck! Lynne's ass caught on fire! Don't just stand there people! Do something!
Is anyone going to put her out, or are you just going to watch?!? Finally, Lynne discovered who her real friends were when Cory Lu and Justine Stockton stepped in with fire extinguishers.
Cory looks determined to save her. My hero!
Justine was no slouch either. In the end, poor Becky was singed, but alive. She has a crush on Cory even though he's a married man. I was surprised when she had the wish to kiss him for the first time. Maybe I should have seen it coming as she clearly dislikes his wife Bree.
(This was before her makeover.) At any rate, she tried to give Cory a romantic hug for saving her.
He reminded her that he was a married man and very much in love with his wife. He seems to have a female fan club, and I see him around town with several different women, but I have never seen him do anything untoward.
I think it's the mustache. It's definitely a chick magnet. From time to time, I see Cory go back to using his bee keeping hat. Maybe it's his attempt to keep the women from kissing him.
But enough of Cory. It's time to go thank Justine Stockton and compliment her on her bravery.
It looks like Justine is slow dancing with Allan Bassett, and Araceli sees her chance to dance with Justine's husband (whose name I forgot and didn't write down.)
The Stockton's live in this house. I think it's Red Mill Cottage? They live here with their two teenage boys. I'll have to look in on this family at a later time. Lynne attended a party there, which is how I know where they live. It was pretty empty, so I switched to them briefly to furnish the house. More on them and the house in a later episode.
Being on fire takes a lot out of a girl, so despite eating earlier, Lynne autonomously grabbed some pepper steak and had a second supper. Aleksey Nair, who moved into the Wonzys' old house, joined her. I was checking on the guests for a bit, and when I went back to Lynne, Aleksey was flirting with her!
I had her flirt back to see where it would go. They took it from there.
Spencer Funke averted his eyes as the couple reached the "irresistible" level, and I decided that maybe rather than adoption . . . . They took the matter to the shower, and the chimes went off. I think Cory Lu sensed something had happened. After most of the guests went home, he approached her and started talking about children.
"I know you want a house full of children, but please be careful about who you have those children with. I don't want you to get your heart broken," he warns. Despite the fact that he is a faithful husband, there seem to be a part of him holding a torch for our friend Lynne.
More to come.
