Cape Albacore Part 11 - New People, New Places, New Adventures

When we left off, lottery winner Yvonne Askew decided to try for a baby with consignment specialist Davis Thornton. I dropped in on Davis to learn more about him. He's currently living at H Halibut Homes, the apartment building in town.

When I took control of Davis, he obviously quit his consignment job and went home. His lifetime wish is be a master of the arts and was interested in music, so I sent him to join the music career. Davis, aside from having a fondness of brilliant red pants, is neat, clumsy, family oriented, artistic, and charismatic. I likes Indie music, Fish N Chips, and the color green.

Yvonne kept calling him up and finally told him she was pregnant and he was the father. She must have been concerned that Davis wouldn't be able to provide much financial support as a consignment clerk.

"Don't worry, babe. I quit that old job and joined the music career. It will just take me a little time to cut an album then we'll be on easy street! I can see myself giving concerts and the crowds cheering!"

He invited her over a few days later, and she seemed to still find him quite attractive, but when he kissed her and started talking about moving in with her, she balked. She's a loner, so I guess she got cold feet. Either that, or she didn't want to be tied to a dreamer whose dreams might never materialize.

A short while later, she decided to go with the up-and-coming politician as a potential mate instead.

She's a loner and he's an a$$, so it probably won't last.

She may be raising little Raul on her own unless she allows Davis to participate in raising the kid.

Davis shares the apartment complex with three other single people.

Elton Strickland wants to be a singer, and was currently working as hobbyist (aka busker.) I had him go ahead and pursue his dream as a singer. When given the chance for creating a stage name, I went with Elton John, since it's a name that might bring him success.

Elton doesn't have any friends to speak of, but seems to get along with most of the people he has met - except Lacey Marks whom he dislikes. I don't know what she did to him. Elton has a good sense of humor, is a perfectionist, a virtuoso, is grumpy, and has commitment issues. Maybe he just needs to focus on his career.  He had level 4 in athletics and level 1 in social networking when I dropped in on him.

He started working on his singing act and made money on the side performing singing telegrams.

He tried his act out on store clerks as they were captive audiences.

It might help if you faced your audience, Elton. She seems to think the act needs some first aid.

Congrats on your excellent workout, Steve. Shortly after receiving the telegram, Elton tried his luck with the claw machine and won a toy tank, while Steve channeled his inner Crumplebottom and ranted about public displays of affection and how certain people always assume a guy wants a romantic relationship.

He's probably referring to Brittany Franklin, another resident of the apartment complex.

When I investigate Brittany, she was unemployed but wanted to be a private investigator. I guess she can give Rocco some competition in that area. She must be new to town as she only knew the people in her apartment complex, and didn't know them very well. She's a workaholic, flirty, Avant Garde (so I let her keep the get-up she was wearing as everyday wear), has a green thumb, and is a dog person. I found her at the festival grounds putting the moves on Kao Caldeira-Kahale, but he was having none of it.

Brittany's lifetime wish is to be a heartbreaker, but maybe she'd better try her luck with single men.

She was so excited to start her new job. She decided to stake out the local shops for any suspicious activity.

It wasn't long until she spotted Doug Lilies and Officer Myra whispering together.

Then, Myra passed him an envelope on the sly.

Is Myra being blackmailed by Doug, or are they passing love letters? They were getting on really well in the previous episode.

Brittany wrote up a report on what she witnessed. She also took a case from little Moira Marks, but wanted to get the real story from her mother as children often misinterpret things. The child was sure someone was deliberately using her dental hygiene supplies. However, Felicity was very tight-lipped and not all that friendly toward Brittany, so she still hasn't made much progress in the case.

The gang at the H Halibut Homes all seem to get along well and have a friendly comradery.

The last tenant, the guy in the hat, is Brock Currier. His lifetime wish is to master the guitar and charisma skills. He's a kitchen scullion in the culinary career, so he needs to work on his cooking skills. He's a great kisser, green thumb, artistic, a computer whiz, and lucky. He might just get lucky with Brittany from the looks of it.

I gave the guys some facial hair to get away from the baby-face look. I did this to others around town too. I wonder why facial hair and body hair isn't randomized when sims are randomly generated.

I'm afraid I spent more time following Elton and Brittany around as their jobs were more "hands on."

Elton looked like he might be getting himself into some hot water with his gooey love songs. Fickle Mary took a liking to him.

What's with the wig, Mary? Have you been auditioning for a part in a play? (I changed it back a little later.)

Rocco spotted them and wasn't happy!

I know, dude! It's so unfair!

"You stay away from my wife, punk! If you don't you will be really, really sorry!"

"If you're going to threaten me, I'll call the cops!" Elton retorted.
" I know the cops! They'd be on my side, too!"

The movie had just let out, and the streets were getting crowded, so Elton and Rocco decided it was best not to make a scene.

Meanwhile, it looks like Brittany may be making a love connection with Ron Bacon.
Cuttlefish Mews was really hoppin'. I went home with Brianne and Luther Kane of Pumpkin Moon.

First, I realized Luther was sporting the same haircut as Rocco, and it didn't seem appropriate to his age. Plus, I've got the new obsession with giving the men facial hair, so Luther got a quick makeover, which makes him look very different. Myra really liked his new look.

They started talking about the new Rom-Com "Love and Truffles."

A short while later, Myra made an indecent proposal, and Luther had to set her straight.

"Myra, even if we were the only two people on the planet, I still would not take you to see "Love and Truffles! I'm a married man, for crying out loud!"

Some new venues have arrived in town, and Luther and Brianne decided to tear up the town - however, it was a Monday night, so most people weren't out, and they had the places to themselves. First, Luther took Brianne to The Crab Spot for a nice dinner and some drinks.

Eyeing the large aquatic tank, Brianne wondered if the owners were avid fishermen.

Luther, always one to chat up the service staff, took an interest in getting to know the host a little bit.

After dinner, they decided to round out the evening with some dancing at the Rusty Scupper, . . .

a pleasant soak in the hot-tub at Dock of the Bay, . . .

and one last slow dance in the living room before turning in for the night.

As mentioned in a previous episode, Brianne discovered a grave when cleaning up the back flowerbeds. Apparently a poor fellow had frozen to death. (The was just a generic grave, but I decided to add a ghost to the property to fill in the gap.) This was the grave of Louie Oliver, an equestrian whose horse Wildfire had broken out of the barn during a fierce Nor'easter. He went looking for his horse, but never found it. He was getting very cold, but on returning home, he discovered that he had accidentally locked himself out of the house. He staggered to the back hoping he might have left a window unlocked that he could pry open, but by then his fingers were so frozen he couldn't get them to work properly. There he collapsed and expired. Unfortunately, there were no neighbors nearby with a hairdryer handy.

From time to time, he comes out, looking for a way into the house.

He told Brianne the whole sordid story. Brianne tried to assure him that being dead, he could now rest and she and Luther would take good care of the property. We'll see if he takes her at her word.

I dropped in on Sugary Bites & Dark D'lights to check it out. I have gone in and replaced or recolored some things after these shots as I didn't have all the objects used to create the original version. The upstairs seem to be pretty much taken over by the teens of the town, many of whom had just come from the festival grounds.

Will Dodge and Holly Dawkins were getting pretty cozy.

I wonder if Will is asking Holly's brother Noah for a loan, so he can take Holly to a concert.
In other news, it looks like Liam Marks and Jill Dodge are also a couple.

Downstairs in the bakery was where the "old folks" were hanging out.

Someone had baked up some cinnamon rolls, and several partook.

Except for Liam Marks, who came down for a bowl of cereal.

Brianne patiently took to working on her baking skills despite the rabble-rouser ranting about lazy people who are recreational eaters.

"Eat less, exercise more! It's the difference between being thin or fat! Avoid these fat factories at all cost! Eat your vegetables!"

Luckily this soldier of social reform had finished his rant before Officer Burkhart arrived on the scene. Otherwise he may have been cited for disturbing the peace. Myra and her partner Seth showed up to manage crowd control of the weekly meeting of the local bibliophile chapter.

Apparently Myra and Seth are now boyfriend and girlfriend, but they clearly aren't committed to each other. Myra is taking a liking to this tourist, . . .

While Seth is still smitten with Sammy Speegle. Shy Sammy elected to read by herself in the coffee shop rather than sit with the crowd of readers in the bakery.

Seth found her and asked her out to see "Love and Truffles" at the theater.

They went to the movie, and it put them into the friend category. However, Sammy had to leave early for some reason. After the show, Seth decided it was time to call things off with Myra and decided it was safer to send her a break-up text than to try and tell her face to face. I think Myra didn't mind calling it quits as there appeared to be no animosity between them when they ran into each other at Cuttlefish Mews.

I may have to consider tuning Story Progression to not allow elders to get together with the younger ages - but then I wouldn't get storylines like Bubba becoming Staci's baby-daddy. The truth is I like the May/December romances once in a great while, but they happen way too often. Case in point: Seth's roommate Hector Lance up and married Nana Marks! Seth and Hector seem to be getting on each other's nerves lately. Maybe Nana has moved in and is causing some friction.

As fate would have it, Seth asked Sammy out to The Crab Spot, and she asked him to move in with her. At the time she was still living with Slade and Shantel who are now married to each other, so she's looking for a place of her own.

Cydney moved out earlier and is living in Texansky's 10x10 house.

Sammy and Seth moved in to Moody Blues and became Cydney's next-door neighbors.

As for Hector Lance, while he is married to Nana Marks, I haven't seen the two of them hanging around each other. Nana has apparently joined the military. I don't remember what Hector is doing for a living. Maybe he's in politics. At any rate, I spotted Hector out riding the mechanical bull at the festival while his ex-girlfriend Ruth Dodge looked on.

"I wouldn't give up your day job if I were you, Hector."

Ruth doesn't seem to bear Hector any ill will. She has moved on with her life.

Hector had been wanting to get an elixir, so I sent him over to Bell, Book, and Candle to purchase one.

I followed him around while he was there to see what else he'd do.

Don't fall for it, Hector!

I guess Hector has some common sense and a way with plants of all kinds.

I had Hector feed her. I've had trouble in the past with cow plants on public lots starving to death.

I haven't forgotten about Bubba's funeral, but I thought I'd wait until the cemetery lot was completed first. Until then, the Askew family can just keep his urn. I'll close now with a few more shots from around town.
