Cape Albacore 12 - Community Gatherings; Gittin' Neckid at the Oyster Pearl; Myra Burkhart Finally Makes a Friend

It seems the town was holding a community picnic at Storybook Park and didn't bother to tell me about it. Seth and Sammy were just going there to hang out for a bit.

Seth did some catching up with his old roommate Hector Lance.

Alma Augustine, a loner, contented herself with eating alone, but admired the handsome men at the other table.

I decided to hitch a ride home with her for awhile. There's something very cozy about sitting in her living room and listening to her play the piano. She's very good at it.

She needs to get out more, however. So I thought I'd follow her around to some of the more recent additions to the town. Who knows, maybe she'll find some romance.

First she went to Past Time (by Fatness1974) for some lunch and some entertainment.

The Dodge kids showed up as did Steve Rajkupal.

Steve told Jill Dodge that she should consider applying for a job here as it looked like a fun place for a teen to work.

Later that evening,  Alma decided to check out Jurassic Waterpark (by Soocoolsim). Many other townies were also checking it out.

"So I hear we finally have a school in town. How are you liking it, Frank? Do you have any idea what you want to do when you graduate?" Rocco asked.

"I wish he would take more interest in art, but he just never seemed to care about such things." Staci explained. "He's considering going into politics because he could earn a lot of money."

Well, there's certainly nothing wrong with wanting to make a comfortable living."

I think Anna's here working security. Everyone seems to be behaving, so it's a pretty chill assignment.

She decided to join Frank Carranza for a bite to eat. "So how do you like the park, Frank?"
"It's okay I guess," Frank responded. (You will notice Frank is trying to fit in with his peers. He's grown his hair out and found he can grow a pretty good mustache.)

It looks like Yvonne must have hired a babysitter or maybe her mother is watching little Raul to let her have some time to herself.

This fashion-challenged paparazzo isn't Staci's favorite person - especially when she suggests Staci's painting were done by someone mentally challenged.

"Frank, all you've done since we got here is eat, do your homework, and eat some more. Why don't you go enjoy the park?"

"I'm hydrophobic, Mom. Remember?"

"I should have just stayed home and played on the computer."

Alma has been out to the park busking before work to try and get used to crowds. It's hard to be a loner and be in the public eye. This is something she knows she needs to work on.

It was a beautiful fall day, so the park quickly filled up with people.

One man stood out from the crowd, mainly because he was sporting a mask. Alma was intrigued and decided to learn more about him.

They seemed to hit it off. She learned that he was a burglar. (You think?)

Diego, please control Mr. Boots! Why don't you take him to the dog park?

Now this cat is joining in! They managed to damage the chess table. Bad dog! Naughty kitty!

The next day was Alma's day off. She had been working on improving her relationships with her co-workers, but today she thought she'd go to The Nectary Barn (by Fatness1974) and do some busking before going to teach a music class at the school.

There she met Brandon Childs and they started jamming together.

He's the right age, single, and seems to share an interest in music. Could he be a romantic interest?

Not if he's going to be snotty and sarcastic! He's not worth your time, Alma. You deserve better.

That's it. Tell him off! You've got to get over to the school anyway.

Cydney Speegle is wondering why little Buck Carranza isn't in school. He's here having a picnic with one of his brothers.

After teaching the music class, Alma thought she'd unwind at the Oyster Pearl Poolside Club.

She got herself a drink and headed for the hot tubs.

She may be a loner, but she sure isn't shy.

She may have thought she found a quiet corner to herself, but that didn't last long. Along comes LeRoy.

He stood back, quietly enjoying the view, trying to stay out of her peripheral vision. However, Slade was not nearly as subtle.

"Is that lady naked? Woo! This is my kind of place!"

Careful, Slade, remember you brought your wife with you.

"Hey, buddy. My wife's over at the dance floor. Can you distract her for me?"

The fashion-challenged paparazzo dropped in. Her name is  Jaime Weir. I got tired of looking at her outfit so I made it at least match.

How was I to know she was going to get naked and lose her pixels?

"Hello, ladies. Mind if I join you?"

Alma must have decided three's a crowd, because she left soon after.

"What a nice, clear sky we have tonight. I can see the Big Dipper."

"Oh, that fire feels so good!"

"Do you have any kids? I just ADORE babies! I want to have a whole bunch someday."

It's a wonder the cops haven't shown up to kick us all out of here.

"Don't pee in the hot tub, Hector!"

"Nice hat."

It looks like LeRoy was waylaid on the way to distract Shantel. Slade had better get out of the hot tub.

Watch out! Here comes Myra Burkhart!

However, instead of busting the skinny-dippers, she decided to give LeRoy a bad time by insulting his family.

Why are you hassling me when there are two hot tubs full of naked people over there?

You match the description of a reported dine-and-dash incident earlier this evening.

Myra's age bar is clear full, so I decided to spend her final days with her. According to her relationship bar, her only friend is her Ford Fiesta, but she dislikes a number of people: Jan Purdy (LeRoy's aunt), Buck Carranza (her grandson), Quentin Babcock, Rocco Sample, Elvis Fortune (babysitter with the inappropriate shoes), Ruth Dodge, Frank Carranza (her grandson), Seth Askew (her ex-boyfriend), Rosemary Franks, Shantel Speegle, Ron Bacon, James Russell (her partner on the police force), Betsy Askew, and her daughter (Staci Carranza), whom she dislikes the most.

I decided she should try and make at least one friend before she passed away. She seemed to have the best relationship with Jordan Daily - the guy she was dancing with at Sugary Bites.

At the time, I thought he was a tourist, maybe because of his outfit. However, I have since learned that he moved here and joined the police force, which is probably where Myra knows him from.

Myra called him up and asked him out to the Crab Pot for lunch. (It was empty again, but I realized it was because I had the lot set at No Visitors Allowed.)

Myra learned that they both couldn't stand art, which pushed them into the friend category despite him being family oriented and her disliking children. Mission accomplished! She has made a friend. However, she was well on her way to adding an enemy to her list when she autonomously attacked Randi Aviles, one of the restaurant's servers.

"They simply don't pay me enough to put up with customers like this!" Randi thought.

Perhaps Myra mistook her for a jewel thief.

"You have a toxic personality, young lady! I will definitely let your employer know you are a suspected thief! Then you'll be out of a job!"

Is Randi really a thief, or is Myra just bonkers? Who knows. Greta Ledbetter eyes Myra warily as she walks away to join her date.

"Must you pick a fight every where you go, Myra?"

"Trust me, justice had to be done in that situation."

A gift and a hug later, and it was time to go home.

Now if Myra could just put a little effort into mending fences with her family. Poor little Buck asks her repeatedly to read him a bedtime story, and she just throws a fit and calls him a baby.

I think she'd rather go watch the Hallmark channel.

Luckily, Mom's more receptive to his requests.

I think she's reading Fingerpainting 101 in hopes of getting at least one of her children interested in art.

She's getting to be a very talented artist.

I don't know who it was that insisted on adopting this feisty cat.

Poor Frank got in trouble for going to Holli Dawkins' house after school and staying there past his curfew.

"Would you believe my mother took me to the waterpark, forgetting that I'm hydrophobic?"

When the police brought him home, Staci grounded him, which I thought was really unfair. Apparently Myra thought so too, because she autonomously let him off the hook, right in front of his mother.

Frank got lippy with Myra soon afterward, however, so Myra re-grounded him and gave him a time-out.

Poor Frank! I'm going to continue with trying to get Myra to mend relationships with her family and make a few more friends before she goes.
