Cape Albacore part 8 - Dropping in on the Callaway Household; the Askew Love Triangle; Officer Myra Lays Down the Law; the Courtships of the Speegle Siblings

I hadn't dropped in of the inhabitants of White Cap (by Fatness1974) yet, so I went to see what they were all about.

This is the home of the Callaways, (a couple also created by Fatness1974).

Coraline Callaway is currently working as a latrine cleaner for the military and has a degree in communications. She is a bookworm, avant garde, a snob, a great kisser, neat, and family oriented.

Her lifetime wish is to be surrounded by family, so I figured she and Frank had better get started.

Frank is a politician who wants to be leader of the free world. At the moment Hector Lance is his boss. Frank is a perfectionist, a workaholic, overemotional, charismatic, a hopeless romantic, and a bookworm.

They have a little fur-baby named Duchess who it seems had kittens at one point (Zoey, Pepper, and Heidi) but they aren't showing in her tree, so I assume they were placed for adoption and adopted outside of the town.

In addition to making sure Coraline got pregnant, I sent her and Frank out on a date to the new ice cream shop in town (created by Hidehi and on the same lot as the new business building rabbithole.)

Alma Augustine of Sea Crest Cottage was also checking out the place. Coraline introduced herself and struck up a conversation, but Alma was only lukewarm in her interactions. She thought Coraline was a bit of a braggart (from snob trait). Alma has apparently earned a degree since I was last with her. She must have taken some online courses.

While Alma wasn't particularly fond of Coraline, she found Frank to be quite striking.

She pretty much made a fool of herself.

He felt it should be obvious to her that he was here with his lovely wife and they were expecting a child.

A short while later, I was notified that Frank and Coraline are now proud parents of a baby girl.

While Frank and Coraline's marriage seems to be on a firm foundation, the same can't be said for other couples.

I was looking around town and spotted Mr. Boots on his way home from who knows where. I decided to follow him for a bit.

He took a shortcut through the new apartment complex H Halibut Homes (created by Ciane.) Then he walked by a lot where some drama was definitely going on, so I dropped off to observe. (I only observed - I was still technically with Mr. Boots.)

It appeared that Billy was talking to his wife Betsy about taking a romantic vacation out of town while Billy's brother (and Staci's baby-daddy) Bubba stood by.

Bubba was clearly not keen on this idea. He made it evident to both Betsy and Billy that he wanted Betsy for himself.

Oh, Betsy! you fickle woman! Poor Billy. While I was tempted to step in and have Billy give Bubba a talking to, I held back. I wanted to see what they would do on their own.

Billy was clearly taken aback at his brother's treachery and his wife's wandering eye.

Bubba seemed quite please with himself. "Well, my work here is done." He thought, and headed for home.

Betsy suddenly remembered she was married and tried to make it up to poor Billy. I thought he would kick her to the curb, but instead, the very next second he gave her a heat-of-the-moment kiss. . .

. . . as the weather stone looked on. "You got gum-gum, dum-dum?"

Billy and Betsy are a sweet couple. I hope they can work things out. After this detour, I continued following Mr. Boots home.

It's clear that Mr. Boots' destructive behavior has not been remedied. Poor Maria thinks she needs a relaxing spa day to help her cope.

Despite Mr. Boots' bad behavior, Maria loves him. He's been with her when times were hard and she was raising baby Jan on her own.

Baby Jan isn't a baby any longer, but she still likes her mama to read her to sleep.

Jan has taken an interest in fishing, so she took a class and set out to Pufferfish Park to see what she could catch.

Mr. Boots also made an appearance.

Good job, Jan! That's a mighty big goldfish!

I also stopped by the library, where I found the Dodge kids taking advantage of the library's resources.

Officer Myra made an appearance with her grandson Buck. For a woman who dislikes children, she seems to at least tolerate Buck, and despite disliking her own daughter, she seems willing to help her out from time to time by babysitting.

I assume Staci met up with them to pick up little Buck because I later saw Myra out on patrol.

Guess who she ran into? Her daughter's baby-daddy Bubba flirting with his brother's wife AGAIN! The rascal!

This calls for some further investigation, she decides. Maybe it isn't as it seems.

Oh no! It was just as she suspected. If this isn't a crime, it should be!

She tells herself this isn't her problem - it's Staci's. Myra and Staci are not on good terms anyway. She told Staci this guy was no good.  But Myra needs an outlet for her frustration. She spots a dress-code violation. . . .

Future lounge singer, Elvis Fortune is sporting RED SHOES with a powder blue tuxedo! "Kid, don't you know how ridiculous you look in that ensemble? Go home immediately and put on some blue suede shoes, or at least some dress shoes of a more appropriate color. If I see you out here again in that get-up you will get a ticket!

"Officer Burkhart, it isn't a crime to wear read shoes with a blue tux! You are overstepping your authority!"

"DO NOT get on my bad side kid! I'll be watching every move you make! One misstep and I'll recommend to the court that you be shipped off to military school!"

"Sorry, Officer. I'll go change my shoes now."

It wasn't enough for Myra to take her anger out on a fashion-challenged teen. She realized she needed to confront the real problem. (I took over at this point, because I'm sure Myra wouldn't let this issue rest.) "Bubba Askew! You are a low-down dirty dog! How dare you betray my daughter in this way!"

"Your brother's wife may be a hussy, but you have some responsibility to be there for my grandson!"

Betsy tries to calm the situation by playing some soothing music. It's not gonna work, Betsy.

"Listen, Myra. Staci and I have an understanding. I will pay for little Buck's college education, but we are not a couple. Both she and I can see other people if we wish. You know, free love and all that."

"We'll see about that. I'll let Staci know what you're up to, and then we'll see how she feels about this! Meanwhile, I see some other citizens who need to be put in line."

"I see one person disturbing the peace, and there's that nasty mailman who drop-kicked my fragile package!"

"Tim Dutton, you lame brain! I saw you drop-kick my glass figurines yesterday! I paid a pretty penny for them and you ruined them! You are darn lucky I had that package insured!"

"And YOU! We don't allow any hippy-dippy airing of grievances in this town! We have a noise ordinance which you have clearly broken. . . .

If I ever see you on your soapbox again, I'm gonna haul you away in handcuffs!"

Watch it, Myra. Diego has his cell phone out and looks to be recording the incident.

"Easy officer, I meant no harm." Keely said. "I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong. In fact, I'm a keeper of the peace as well. I keep the sharks and other sea predators in line."

Myra was not impressed.

"Hey, isn't that Betsy Askew I see over there getting cozy with her brother-in-law? I thought he and your daughter Staci were together."

"That's it!" Myra fumed. "I will NOT put up with any more of this humiliation. Bubba is bringing shame to my family!"

Here comes Diego with his cell phone. "Erm, is there a problem over here?"

Diego's starting to think he needs to mind his own business. Especially after Myra mocks his expertise on interior decor.

"Your design choices are so last year, Diego! What a hack!"

It's getting late, and Myra's shift is over. Time to go home and make good her threat of notifying Staci of Bubba's behavior.

"Guess who I saw your Bubba with today? He was with that hussy sister-in-law of his, and they were really drawing attention with their public displays of affection. I thought you should know he's out there making an utter fool of you."

"Oh good! Maybe that means he won't be darkening my doorstep."

"It's old news, Mom. Bubba and I aren't together. It's all over town that he's trying to woo Betsy away from Billy. I'm surprised his niece hasn't banished him from the house."

"Don't you even care about how this might affect poor Buck?!?"
"It's the 21st century, Mom. The sins of the father aren't going to follow the son."

"Buck will be just fine. Just like my other boys. All I want from Bubba is that he pay for Buck's college."

"Just because he says he'll do that now doesn't mean he'll follow through. You'd better make sure it's stated in his will. He's no spring chicken, you know."

Staci called Anna up to vent her frustrations about Myra.

Staci may have a bad relationship with her mother, but she gets along well with her kids, and her kids get along well with each other, so I guess that's about as much as we can ask for.

What Myra should concern herself with is the "attractive nuisance" issues the town is having regarding private swimming pools. I caught the paperboy Chadwick Weiss sneaking into the Purdy's backyard to take a dip without being invited.

Tim Dutton, the mailman, is no better. I caught him in Hector Lance's pool when no one was home.

Maybe that problem will solve itself now that the gym has come to town. Now we have a public pool. (Sims in Motion by Fatness 1974)

Rocco, Alma, and Seth were all enjoying the pool area at the gym. Then Seth got a text from Sammy Speegle. We last saw them snuggling on the couch on love day.

He was so excited to hear from her again. He tried asking her out, but she said she didn't feel like it. I looked at their relationship panel and they barely knew each other. He tried again the following day, and again she turned him down. I checked on her and realized she's shy. Maybe she had some "liquid courage" on love day and her inhibitions were lower.  I decided I'll try approaching this hopefully budding relationship from her angle. But for now, Seth wants a snack.

He and Rocco took advantage of the cafe at the gym while Alma worked out.

Poor Seth still struggles with his unstable personality.

Moving on to the Ho/Speegle household, I checked to see what their relationships are like. Shantel Ho is the owner of the house and took the Speegle siblings in as roommates to make ends meet. She wasn't thrilled about having to do so since she is a loner and likes her space, but then she fell for Slade.

The feeling was mutual and Slade asked her out to the Firehouse Cafe on a date.

While there, Shantel decided to leave her mark. Luckily she didn't get arrested. Meanwhile, Slade tried the claw machine and won a bear, which he gave to Shantel as a gift.

I really think Slade should have dressed up a little for a date, but whatever. Shantel didn't seem to mind.

Slade was a perfect gentleman and asked her is he could kiss her.

Awww, how sweet! Then he asked her to go steady, and she agreed.

Because she really likes Seth but has turned him down twice, Sammy realized she needed to screw up her courage and ask Seth out if she wanted to be with him. With fear and trembling, she sent him a not-so-secret admirer text. Then she followed it up with a phone call and asked him if he's like to go check out the new drive-in theater with her. (Starry Nite Drive-In by Soocoolsim.) He said he'd meet her there.

Billy and Bubba were both there, but Betsy wasn't. I wonder if they are trying to mend fences. I didn't see any arguing or fights breaking out, but I didn't see them speaking to each other either.

Seth and Sammy had some hotdogs, took some silly pictures in the photo booth, and toured the movie studio together. But they took things slow, trying to get to know each other a little better and not scare each other off.

Sammy tried to figure out what was going on with Seth's brain that caused his personality shifts. Maybe she wants to be a neurologist someday.

They flirted a little bit, and discussed their hopes and dreams for the future. Seth told her that someday he hoped to get married and start a family of his own.

They also partook of the juice keg by the actor's trailer, but as Sammy was getting pretty tired, she resorted to some coffee from the food counter. All in all, it was a good date. They got to know each other a little better. I'm not sure if they made it to friend level or not, but they are on their way.

As for Cydney Speegle, she doesn't seem to have a love interest at this time, and she and Shantel do NOT get along. I think Cydney would move out if she didn't like the view from the dock so much. Maybe I'll take a closer look at her life next time.
