October Story Part 1: Terrence Bloodston Arrives in Barnacle Bay
Since it's October, I felt it was time for some Spooky Day play. Someone posted a build challenge for making a spooky house. Here is the challenge.
Here's my version. The house seemed a lot wider than the picture, and I had issues with roofing the porch, so put on an upper deck as a work-around. The floorplan basically went out the window after the first few rooms, but it's still a 3 bedroom house.
He was a private eye in the past, but now he wants to be a stylist, so I'll see if I can make that happen for him. Because Terrence isn't a dark and evil vampire but more comical and quirky, wanting to be a master of seduction and such, I didn't want a dark and gloomy house for him. However, he is a brooder, so I wanted something moody yet whimsical. I used a color randomizer intending to click until I found a palette that seemed autumnal and "Halloweeny." The first attempt actually turned out to be what I was looking for.
Dark Slate Gray (the green color) Hex # 395A4F
Temptress (the dark purple color) Hex # 432330
Cordervan (the darker red rose color) Hex # 853C43
Sunset Orange (the brighter red color) Hex # F25C5E (I barely used any of this one.)
Rajan (the gold color) Hex # FFA566
The study.
The living room. (I have colored the ceilings since these pictures were taken.)
The dining room. You can get a glimpse of the kitchen through the right archway. There's nothing special about it, and I didn't get a picture.
The lower level bathroom.
The upper level bathroom.
Terrence's bedroom.
Just off his bedroom is small library with a secret passage to Terrence's secret bedroom. You can also see more kitchen and a mudroom on the right.
Upstairs includes a "sunroom" with Terrence's cowplant Milly. (Terrence's rocking chair is away from the windows and the windows are heavily draped.)
There is also a guest bedroom and a hobby room. (Terrence's hobbies include alchemy and drafting, since he's showing interest in being a stylist. He also has some skill with the guitar.)
This is the guest room. The hobby room was unfurnished when I was taking pictures.
This is the upstairs landing. Terrence also has a little white kitten named Izzy. I think this must be a portrait of her. So far, Terrence putters about the house working on his skills or reading until dark, then he goes out to meet people and/or hunt.
He's feeling a little lonely and would like to meet a woman to spend time with.
In addition to being brooding, Terrence is proper and a bit old fashioned. He's not a technophobe, but doesn't have a computer or TV in the house. He's considering setting up a dating profile using a community computer.
He'd also like to see if there are any openings for a stylist in town. I can see him fixing sims up in classically elegant or old-timey outfits, with maybe a few goth outfits thrown in, depending on his mood.
He went to the dive bar his first night in town, but the place was dead. Then he went to the business building/restaurant where there were a few sims around. He set up his dating profile and met this young lady - Pearl Inkbeard.
At first they hit it off, chatting and joking. . . .
Then she noticed the fangs and accused him of being a vampire.
He admitted it, feeling very ashamed at her treatment of him. She just wouldn't give him a chance to prove he wasn't a bad vampire. After she left, he got a wish to throw an elixir at her. I don't know if he wanted to throw a good one to make friends, or a bad one to get even with her treatment of him. We'll see what he decides.
He also met Mr. Quill, who is retired and now works diligently at preserving the history of Barnacle Bay. He writes articles about the ghosts that haunt the island, the pirate legends, and other such things.. He seems to like Terrence and might want to write about him at some point.
It was getting late, (or early, depending on how you look at it), and Terrence needed to go home and cuddle his kitten and give his cowplant some TLC.
The next night, he decided to try the Little Roses Lounge to see if there might be some more action there. Tonight he hunts! He sensed this woman had the highest quality blood and sat down to introduce himself and make some pleasant conversation. Her name is Mia Rao, or something like that. We know she's a slob by the way she's eating. I also think he found out she was good.
He held back on critiquing her table manners, though he could see she could use a lecture in etiquette. Tonight was more about making friends and maybe drinking some blood if all went well. They chatted and danced, . . .
. . . and he learned that she was a surgeon. Unfortunately for him, she needed to go work the graveyard shift at the hospital and left abruptly before he could befriend her and drink her blood. You win some and you lose some. Better luck next time, Terrence.
