Emerald Valley #10 - The Moellers will not go gentle into that good night.

I've been playing with the Moeller couple from the last episode, trying to have them complete their lifetime wishes before they die. Both have their life bars at the max at this point and have had it that way for several sim days, so I'm surprised they are still around. Sneaky Allan has autonomously found a way to cheat death for now. But I will get to that . . . .

As expected, many of the elders who first established the town are dying off, including Joaquin Harmon. The Moeller's witnessed his death when they went to visit the Harmon family and play dominos.

Baby Silvia, now a child, was very upset as was Dolores.

Dolores was wondering why Grim was sticking around after reaping poor Joaquin.

I guess Grim wanted her to fix him a hotdog.

Allan Moeller has been doing the old guy thing of checking the obituaries in the paper to see who has moved on. In his free time, he takes himself over to the fishing hole - it's important to live life to the fullest. It was there that he came across our friend from Adventureland - Antwan Whipsnake - but in this parallel universe, his parents never married, so he' still Antwan Sw0rd. He's an adult here, and married to Juliet, the redhead on the keyboard at the Wile's party in the previous episode.

Allan asked Antwan if he had any experience fishing.

Then he caught a nice red herring, while demonstrating his technique, but it appears that Antwan doesn't need his help reeling in the big ones.

At this point, Allan got a call from work. Apparently one of their projects was stalling, and they were seeking his advice on his day off.

Allan was so engaged in the conversation with his coworker, that he wandered out onto the water. Wow! However, once he hung up, he realized where he was, panicked, and sunk! The hydrophobic fisherman had to swim to safety! How traumatic!

As for Dianna, she's been making friends and influencing people. She went for a cocktail with her boss Gino Winnebago at Goth Haven Pub, and tried to ply her charismatic skills into getting a promotion. Earlier, I mentioned that Dianna inherited the gypsy wagon from the old fortuneteller who traveled with the same circus her family did, but that was only partially true.

The old fortuneteller had an estranged grandson son who made an appearance shortly after the old lady's death. Gino's father Vinny left the circus as soon as he was able, with dreams of becoming a fire fighter someday. He applied to become an emancipated minor in order to attend and graduate from high school. It  was in high school where he was smitten by Aspen Colorado, but was afraid to approach her because she was so shy and he didn't want to scare her off. After graduation, he learned she was taking a gap year to live off the land and get in touch with nature. He volunteered to go along to make sure she didn't "cheat" and really lived off the land. Their story can be found in my 4 Seasons Challenge. Once Gino learned of his family history with the circus, he wanted to be part of it, and since he came forward and challenged the will, he was awarded 51% of the business. Dianna eventually bought him out, but at this time he was still involved.

She tried to butter him up before asking for more money. However, he became a little too flirtatious for her liking.

She explained she intended for this to just be a business dinner.

Dianna has been diligently working on her skills to top her fortuneteller career.

However, when she got to level 6 and could choose a path, I neglected to read her lifetime wish closely, and sent her down the wrong path. My bad.

On the upside, she is climbing the career ladder and making more money.

Which is good because they have had a financial setback when a burglar came and stole their stove and television.

Dianna woke up and called the police,

but it was too late, and they had to buy replacements. Frugal Allan was not happy with the expense.

However, he was the one who had the senior moment and ran off to work leaving the waffles in the oven.

Luckily, Dianna woke up and put the fire out. But the stove had to be replaced again.

The burglar wasn't the only unusual late-night visitor. Dianna also managed to meet and befriend Axane Thobanob, an extraterrestrial from planet Sixam. Axane was frustrated about being unable to go in the house, but the Moellers are very suspicious of late night visitors after the burglary.

Dianna has a mild obsession with bowling and is always looking for new people to go bowling with. The last time she went bowling was when she was on a date with Allan.

It was fun, but she'd also like to try bowling with just some girlfriends or maybe she and Allan could join another couple and for a team. But I digress. After sizing Axane up as a possible bowling partner, Dianna explained who she was and what she did for a living. She offered to give Axane a private reading but the whole notion of fortunetelling was just too foreign for Axane to be comfortable with, so she declined the offer.

Instead, they compared their diets and exchanged recipes.

Perhaps Dianna will invite Axane out sometime to give bowling a try.

Allan actually earned his lifetime wish to be a CEO! I guess CEO was level 8 not level 10. This means he gets to ride around in a chauffeured limousine.

He likes to invite his friends to go out on the town in the limo once in awhile.

Here he is going to Plumb Blossom House with his buddy Terrence. Terrence's most recent wife died, but he has since married Anitra Simpkins, the mistress who asked him to turn her into a vampire a few episodes ago.

Anitra wasn't at Terrence's house when Allan came to pick him up, so I'm not sure what their story is. I may have to combine some households or something. Instead, Lauren Vines was hanging around, and she and Terrence were not getting along.

First, he criticized her attire, then she accused him of being the rudest vampire she knew.

This put him in his place.

But again, I digress. Back to the Moeller's. Allan had been wanting to take a vacation in France for a long time, so I figured since he achieved his goal and he probably didn't have much time left, he and Dianna should take a trip to celebrate his accomplishments.

They spent their first day at the nectary, tasting various nectars and meeting new people.

Dianna met Jean Luc, and they were getting along well, when Jean Luc started acting strangely. "Is this a French custom I haven't heard about?" Dianna wondered.

Consequently, Dianna was completely creeped out by his behavior and went to look for Allan. Allan must have gotten hold of some rancid nectar, because he wasn't feeling too well.

Jean Luc must have had some nectar from the same batch.

Dianna found a few secret doors and collected a few things.  She also harvested some different kinds of grapes to plant in her garden at home.

The folks back home were blowing up both Allan's and Dianna's phones. I guess they wanted to make sure they were okay and were having a good time.

The next day Allan went fishing while Dianna explored a tomb and found a baseball for a local. How he got her phone number is beyond me. We weren't looking to do any big tomb raids on this trip. The couple got back together in the early evening and played some music in the square. They decided they should form their own band and play out once in awhile when they got home.

Dianna eventually got hungry and the couple went to Little Roses Restaurant and Karaoke Bar. (I took the Little Roses townhouse that was situated in the town square area and converted it, because there isn't really any nightlife for those going on vacation.)

Allan thought 20 simoleons for a hamburger was outrageous; nevertheless he went upstairs and had some drinks.

Allan has a wish to eat crepes, but the cafe didn't offer them, so he found the recipe at the bookstore. Unfortunately, he is not skilled enough to read the recipe and make the crepes. He thought he'd work on his cooking skills by making some goopy carbonara at the base camp. It was the breakfast of choice of all the guests the next morning.

Allan spent the day at the nectary learning to make nectar as the nectary owner was encouraging him to do so. He made 5 horrible bottles of nectar and bought a nectar rack and nectar machine to take home. Dianna mostly hung out at the base camp and watched these two guest fight with each other.

Time to head home.

Upon arriving home, Allan was bombarded with party invitations and social get-togethers,

while Dianna continued to hone her skills in hopes of achieving her goal of topping her career, by performing private readings and gathering potion ingredients.

Allan still works on his cooking skills every chance he gets, hoping to someday be able to make crepes.
On Love Day, he cooked up some stir fry for whoever came into Plum Blossom House.

Dianna shared some songs she learned while in France. Everyone was impressed.

I can't even begin to guess what this is all about. Anyway, the Moellers ended Love Day at the Spring Festival; the love machine said it should be paying them for the privilege of seeing such a loving couple.

Dianna still wants to go bowling, but it's getting a little late. I think the dog in the foreground wants to get to know the dog by the horseshoes, but that dog is gunning for a fight. Speaking of fights, some people just don't understand what Love Day is all about.

One fateful day came when Spring invited the Moellers to a party at her place. It was there that Allan happened across her dragons while using the bathroom. He picked them up and wouldn't put them back down. (I tried, but there was no option for it.)

He took Sparky, the black one associated with death, and also the green one capable of harvesting crops and summoning treasure. He spent most of the time at the party interacting with them. They have become his new obsession.

He stole these dragons from the poor woman, who died a few days later. He soon learned that Sparky can summon death flowers, so of course he had to try this. He gave the death flower to Dianna. It was a good thing he did, because a few days later . . . .

Dianna was very grateful to little Sparky for producing the death flower that saved her life.

She was determined to keep him close by, at least for awhile.

Allan was wondering if he'd live long enough to become a Power Broker, and Dianna said she was sure he could with Sparky's help.

He was excited by the prospect of living as long as he wanted to.

"Think of all the fishing I will be able to do!" he said.

The End
