Adventureland #9 - Visiting Sally Hardy and the Cadets

I did a little jumping around to see what some of the households were up to, starting with Sally, it's now fall and getting too cold for swimmers on the beach, but they are going anyway because Sally is working her job. I'm thinking of having her take another job until summer, but I'd hate to see her lose her progress. Still, it seems like the sensible thing to do.

Dina seems to never learn. This is the second time Sally has saved her from drowning.

Dina was grateful, but Sally was irritated. "What kind of lame brain keeps going in over their head when they can't swim!"

"I know it was unwise; I have kids to raise . . .

and it would be very tragic for them if I died."

"I'm a fairy, so if you need any supernatural favors someday, just let me know."

Sally also saved Gwen Wonzy that day.

Don't dilly-dally, Sally! There's another one out there floundering about!

Sally autonomously went home before her shift ended. I guess she needed the kind of refreshment Daisy wasn't selling at the concession stand on the beach.

Get back to work, Sally!

The last rescue of the day.

While I was with Sally, I sent her next door to meet Carlo Poe, Rocco Sample's roommate as I don't think she had met him yet since my game crashed and I forgot to save while playing the Thompson household. Gwen was there, and everyone seemed irritated with each other.

This was mostly Sally's doing. It's that darn nerd trait! I wish there was a way to tweak it so the insult would only spawn if the relationship was already going downhill. I hate when the sims are getting along and building a relationship and suddenly out of nowhere, one insults the intelligence of the other.

Sally meets Carlo for the first time, and there's a mutual attraction. Then suddenly she starts insulting him! She doesn't even know him!

(Meanwhile, Rocco is mocking Gwen.)

I think Sally was able to patch things up a little. I made her go home. before she ruined it again.

They were getting a little flirty, and I noticed, Sally came over in her sleepwear. What was she thinking? She has the richest guy in town as a boyfriend, so I don't know if this thing with Carlo will go anywhere.

The next day, she invited Carlo over to try and work on their relationship, but while he was there, she got a call from Alexander asking her on a date. I thought there would be a "break up group" option when she accepted but there wasn't, so Carlo came on the date with her. Awkward!

"Hi, honey. Is this guy bothering you?" Alexander is apparently a very busy man. He asked Sally to meet him at the quarry, so she came all the way out here. Then he stays long enough to give her a hug and kiss, and suddenly he has somewhere else he needs to be! Maybe it's just as well that she brought Carlo.

Maybe he was just trying to avoid loaning Sally any more money.

On a side note, on Facebook, I saw a post about some of my Facebook friends getting together for a Sip and Paint party. Also, this lot spawns a lot of junk as it's really a junkyard lot. I decided to create an art gallery that hosts sip and paint parties and has a section where local artists can sell their wares. I was think Carlo or somebody else could collect items here and "refurbish" them into art pieces and sell them at the gallery.

The lower level has the standard viewing art items, one wing is sculptures and the other paintings. I left room for paintings sold at the consignment store to show up as well.

The upper floors have a local artist wing with Savvy Seller register and rugs, and a sip and paint wing with a juice bar and wall of nectar for sale and tasting, a few pub tables, and art easels. I would like to get a group to all paint the same thing by taking a picture of an item in the middle of the semicircle of easels, but I think there's a certain painting level they have to reach before they can do that. It's still something I'm going to try and tackle.

I forgot bathrooms until I was done with the build. I tried putting in a basement with bathrooms, but with a foundation already in place it was too much of a headache. Luckily, there is this awkward corner tucked away that just fits a all-in-one bathroom, so I put one on each floor (near the juice bar in the upper floor and in the painting wing on the bottom floor. The back has a sculpture garden.

Next I went to check on the cadets at the military housing lot to see if Jack has a love connection with any of the ladies. While he has a good relationship with all of them, he must prefer older women, because he has a love interest with Daisy Kadukin! I sent him over to her house to ask her to just be friends, but right after she invited him in, she took off to go to work. Roger was still around the house, and it was in shambles - stinky food in the fridge, clogged toilet, water puddles in the bathroom . . . . Jack started unclogging the toilet, which made Rodger feel guilty, so he came down to clear the bad food from the fridge (autonomously). However, he decided to drop it in the bushes rather than just taking it around the corner to the trash can, the lazy bum!

I was excited when Natalia got a call from Carlo, asking her out on a date, but he stood her up. Robin had better luck. She was asked out by this guy, who is apparently a singer, but I've forgotten his name.

She was in the middle of learning a martial arts skill, when he called. They became fast friends, which was good, because Robin was hungry and had been wanting some fresh blood rather than the plasma she gets from the fridge.

Robin's date was feeling a little woozy, but Plumbob Pictures was neaby, and they have a 24/7 snack bar, so she suggested they go there. Her date opted for some juice at the juice bar. Then he accused her of being a vampire. (I wonder what his first clue was.)

Having just drained him of a pint of blood, poor Robin felt to deny it would be futile, so she confessed.

He wasn't very happy with her. While all this was going on, a paparazzo strolled in and started taking notes . . .

and taking pictures.

While a dude in swim trunks wandered in and wondered if the pie on the table was edible or just set dressing.

Will this exposé help or harm Robin's celebrity status? We'll find out next episode.
