Adventureland #7 : The best mama ever (the lost episode)
I'm calling this the lost episode, because my game crashed more than once while playing the Thompsons, I don't know if there was a glitch with them or their lot, or somewhere else in town, but after it crashed twice, I went to Nraas Master Controller and reset the town, which seems to have fixed the problem. However, some interesting things happened which were lost due to the crash. This is the "what should have been" episode.
Ms. Virginia Thompson has truly amazed me with her mothering skills. Because she dislikes children, I thought she might neglect little Tommy, but the opposite is true. I first spotted them out and about when I was playing the Russos. She was at the beach, and little Tommy was with her, playing with his imaginary friend doll. I was surprised he had one, as I had not played this household yet, and I thought only families you are currently playing would get an imaginary friend.
The first attempt I had in switching to their house to play was interesting, because this woman who dislikes children wasn't parked in front of the TV or reading a book like I expected, but instead she was tickling Tommy and attacking him with the claw. I took her to CAS to sort out her outfits, and the game crashed.
This was also the attempt where a horse charged into the house and carried on in the bedroom while Tommy was taking his nap.
I wondered on my second attempt, if I would find her doing the same things. She wasn't. Instead she was autonomously teaching him to walk!
I can't remember ever seeing my sims autonomously teach the toddler skills. I again took Virginia to CAS, and managed to get her outfits set up and saved. It was getting late, and both were tired, so I sent them to bed. Virginia wanted to join the stylist career, which I thought would be a good idea because she could take Tommy with her to work. She also wanted to learn the fishing skill and take a fishing class, so that was the plan for the next day.
By the way, Virginia's traits are over-emotional, loves the heat, dislikes children, snob, and angler. She had only a high school education and no skills when I first switched to her. This night, they had a burglar break in and steal their couch and shower.
The next morning, Virginia got up and made some waffles for the very first time, and didn't burn them.
When little Tommy woke up hungry, she autonomously put him in the high chair and gave him baby food.
Then it was time to go to fishing class. I thought she would leave the lot, then I'd get the "do you want to call a babysitter" message, but nope, she took him to class with her!
After the Thompsons disappeared down the rabbithole to class, I hung out to see what others at the store were up to. It appears Rocco is not happy with his roommate and might want to send him packing.
Sally noticed the ruckus and tried to help smooth things over. She thought she'd discuss music with Carlo.
Through the course of the conversation, Carlo mentioned that he is divorced.
Rocco said he could see why Carlo's wife divorced him - because he was just too hard to live with!
Poor Carlo was shocked by Rocco's aggression and the fact that he was airing their dirty laundry in public.
He was truly mortified and decided to walk away.
Sally followed him out and tried to cheer him up.
She told him if things got too bad, he could come next door and stay at her place. She has an extra room, but at the moment it's empty.
Apparently, Rocco wasn't done having his say. Again, Sally played the peacemaker by changing the subject to comics, video games, and sci fi. Nerdiness is their common ground.
