Adventureland #5 - The teens & getting to know Rocco Sample

I'm not sure how I want to build the populations in this town. I want a pretty good balance, and I like the idea of a lot of young singles, so I've turned aging off for now. I also want to eventually have more kids and teens. I don't want it to get too full of supernaturals, but I like to have a few. I want to eventually have a "clean" save file with a populated town with lore and a bit of a history. I know I will eventually turn the aging back on and let it run for a bit, maybe have some time for elders to die and populate the cemetery. Maybe have some others die of other circumstances too and make their stories part of the history of the town.

But for now, I switched to the Russo family because prom is coming up, and I wanted William to ask Maggie to the dance. I spent a couple days with them, then when prom was done, I went to investigate the Rocco Sample, the new Story Progression neighbor of Sally Hardy.

On the Russo homefront, William worked up the courage to confront his politician father Anwar about his unconventional fashion choices. It seems Anwar has been spotted around down wearing nothing but his business shoes and a towel.

William is beyond embarrassed by his father at this point, probably more embarrassed than the typical teen is about their parents.

"What about your career, Dad? Don't you think this is going to torpedo your goal of being mayor some day?"

Anwar apparently doesn't see the problem. I've tried changing his clothes, but he changes back to the towel. Maybe its his work outfit and I need to go in and change it in CAS?

But William can't spend anymore time on his parents' issues; prom is coming up, and he needs a date.  Luckily, Maggie invited him over to Beaumont House after school, which gave him the opportunity he needed to ask her out.

She accepted, and he was so elated he had trouble focusing on his homework.

This is what it's like to try and do your homework while your nanny and her boyfriend are at the next table making goo-goo eyes at each other.

But they eventually settled down and got their homework done.

Prom was a few days away, so in the mean time, William invited Maggie out to the quarry. There were some adults around, so they didn't partake of the juice keg, but they did do some swimming and enjoyed the fire pit.

The next day after school, I got a glimpse of the people who moved into the Plumbob95 house plan challenge house. They were generated by Story Progression. They are an elderly couple, Geraldo and Graciela Gann. Geraldo is a fairy with no skills despite his age. (I might have to pay them a visit soon and fix that problem.) His traits are loner, loves the outdoors, hopeless romantic, evil, and friendly.

Graciela is a mermaid, and her traits are jock, workaholic, clumsy, bookworm, nerd, frugal, and artistic. She has level 10 in scuba diving, 1 in jock influence, and 3 in nerd influence. She likes eating kelp, and I think she needs it to survive, so I need to either create a dive lot or at least get a grocery store going.

Here she is in the school library sharing her vast knowledge of sharks with the paparazzo.

I took the paparazzo to CAS to fix his outfit because I cringe each time I see him around town wearing this monstrosity. Also, the Ganns have two cats, and I don't think I put any pet stuff in their house when I built it.

(It also occurred to me that I have an empty room in the city hall and I don't have a police force, so I should put a rabbithole rug in there and maybe a jail cell and a few desks in there as I have a few people who want to be private eyes, but the opportunity to join that career and do well in it requires helping the police. The empty room is right next to the courtroom too, so that fits.)

Poor Dayna Russo, has been obsessed lately with getting a promotion.

I believe she's an A student, so I don't know why she's got this wish, but I figured she could use a little enrichment, so she joined the scouts at school, and I sent her to learn the fishing skill.

Maybe, like a lot of kids, she's just in a hurry to grow up.

The next day was Leisure Day, and also the day of the prom. Dayna invited the Fillmore kids over to play in her new treehouse, while William asked Maggie to go to the beach with him.

I also spotted the Thompsons and Sally Hardy relaxing and getting to know each other. It must be Sally's day off too.

The Thompson household consists of a single mother, Virginia, and her toddler son, Tommy, whom I created because I wanted to make sure another child joined the town. Virginia is telling Sally about her new house. She lives in this one-bedroom house around the corner from the Russo family.

I know it looks like I went a little crazy with door selection, but the door on the right goes to outside, and best matched the picture I was using for inspiration. The double doors are my new go-to for coat closets, and I thought the  horse door to the bathroom was a quirky touch to the western inspired décor. Maybe it's a bit much, but I like it.

I put a crib in this build, but I didn't put any other kid things, toys etc. That's the only reason I can think of to explain why little Tommy has an imaginary friend when I haven't even played this household yet.

Perhaps the AI felt sorry for him. Also, I randomized the Thompsons' traits, and Virginia ended up with the dislikes children trait, so I guess it's good that little Tommy has a friend to keep him company. Virginia has an odd choice of shoes for the beach.

Story Progression decided to give her a job at the consignment store.

When I switch over to her, I'll have to pull her out of that as it will leave her chained to the register 24/7 and poor Tommy will need some care.

Anyway, the day progressed, and William and Maggie went to prom. While there, apparently Maggie told William she really liked him and asked him to go steady. Also William was crowned prom king.

Meanwhile, back at home, Dina tried to play the teeth-chattering trick on Annabelle, but it backfired.

Annabelle thought it was funny, but Dina wasn't amused.

The coloring in these pictures is because it's not only prom night and leisure day, but also a full moon. The kids had a royal feast in the playhouse while zombies milled around underneath.

I left the Russo family the next morning to check on some of the new residents. I started with Sally Hardy's next door neighbor Rocco Sample.

Rocco is an unemployed, overemotional, inappropriate adult with no skills (at least when I first met him.) He is also a couch potato, which might explain why he hasn't ventured out to meet anyone in the past few days since he's come to town. In addition to these traits he has a green thumb and wants to be an expert at alchemy. I'm really not fond of the shaved head with designs in it, but with a name like Rocco, it seems appropriate. I might eventually take him to CAS and darken it and give him some bad-ass facial hair, but I haven't as of this posting.

I had Rocco get started on the cooking skill by having him attempt his first waffles, but he burned them, which is why he's eating bread and jam in the picture above.

He's a single man living in a good-sized three bedroom house, and he's an adult, so I'm thinking he needs to get out there and find a woman and start a family. In the meantime, I'm going to have him get a roommate. After breakfast, I sent him to the beach across the street to see if he could meet some people.

One of the people he met was a tourist named Nailah Giza. They hit it off. Both are a bit nerdy and I think she likes gardening too, as they seemed to talk about it it lot. They became friends: future wife candidate #1.

He also met Holden Wonzy, Eunice Goddard and Jack Ransone at the beach. He met Daisy Kadukin, who was tending the food stand. Then he met Jenni Adam. They were struggling to make a connection.

She blew him a kiss, and he acted like he was going to puke!

The following day, Rocco threw a house party and invited the people he met the day before, so he could get to know them better. He didn't invite Nailah because she apparently had caught a flight home to Egypt.

The party went really well. Rocco grilled some hot dogs and didn't even burn them.

The town's vampire, Robin Mitchell crashed the party. She is apparently a celebrity now, for what I don't know as she's in the military career, and not very high up as far as I know. But at any rate, she thought it was appropriate to crash the party and snub the host because she is just all that!

Rocco shrugged it off, though he was a little star-struck. I guess he was just honored that she would lower herself enough to attend his modest little party.

Everyone enjoyed the hot dogs and dancing to the stereo. The party was a success. After everyone else left, Jenni Adam stayed behind and hung out with him. They talked and danced and became friends: future wife candidate #2.

After Jenni left, Rocco sent a friendly text to Nailah, letting her know the party went well, and he was sorry she had been unable to attend. She called him right back, and they talked for while.

Rocco also called the roommate service and put in a request for a roommate to help share expenses. The roommate will arrive tomorrow morning.

The next morning, I sent Rocco next door to meet Sally Hardy and see how they got along. He really liked her, perhaps too much. He autonomously tried to kiss her just a few minutes after introducing himself, and even after she told him she was involved with Alexander, he persisted.

Of course, she might have given off some mixed messages. . . .

So he wasn't sure what to make of her.

He tried to act like he didn't care before attempting to put another move on her.

Nope, she's still creeped out. Is she potential wife candidate #3? I'm not sure. It would create some drama. As usual, Sally was in fine form during the visit. (This girl runs everywhere she goes. I'm not sure why.)

She started ranting about politics, and Rocco decided it was time to leave. His roommate has arrived, but went straight to bed; it must have been a long, exhausting trip to get here. I decided to send Rocco to the consignment store to check things out and maybe get some things he can plant from the produce stand.

It was there he met potential wife #4. Ms. Thompson, the consignment store cashier.

They seemed to hit it off, and Virginia was forthcoming about the fact that she has a child. I randomized her traits, like I said, so I don't remember much about her other than she dislikes children. But we'll get to know more about her soon. After buying a bottle of wine, Rocco went outside and bought a tomato, a head of lettuce, and some grapes. I'm going to have him plant them in the planters I put on one of the balconies. This way he can start working on his gardening skills. Then, as he went around back to dumpster dive, I saw this dude wander onto the lot.

He's a paparazzo, but it looks like he came from the movie studio across the street. I'm wondering if he's working as an extra to try and get some good pictures of celebrities. Virginia entertained him with a ghost story.

Rocco got a call from Jenni inviting him to hang out. It looks like there's a party at her place (the military housing lot), so we'll go check that out.

Then I'm going to go back to CAS with Rocco and adjust his hair color and give him some facial hair, meet the roommate, and then check in on the Gann and Thompson families.
