Adventureland #2 - The new school, a new random house challenge, and hanging with the Beaumont household.
After the kids from the Beaumont and Russo households almost but not quite met each other on Spooky Day, I decided I needed to get with building the school. It's a walk-in with a rabbithole rug and based somewhat on the school I attended 4th through 8th grade in. The roof over the multi-purpose room is at the wrong angle, however, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Oh, well, close enough.
This version is for both elementary and high school. The students can hang out for "after school activities" when the school day is over, or I can send them to school on snow days or other days off to refine their skills. In addition to the rabbithole rug it has restrooms, an elementary classroom, a music room, a library, a science room, an engineering room, an art room, a cafeteria area, and a stage for class presentations or school plays.
At first, I tried to make it a combo school and performance venue, but performance venues have specific hours that don't coincide with school hours, so students wouldn't be able to enter the building to attend school, so I had to switch it to a "visitors allowed" lot.
William Russo and Maggie Stone are the only teens in town at this point. They met each other in the art room.
Maggie autonomously made the sketch in the background. I was impressed as she had no painting skills at the time. I think the drafting table turns out higher quality art than the easels in the beginning.
Maggie always dresses a little avant-garde, but that's just her style. What are you looking at, William?
Most romances are born from proximity, and as they are the only teens so far, maybe they'll become a couple at some point.
There's a new challenge on my Facebook group. Another person actually won, but because of her medical struggles, she was unable to post the next challenge, so as runner up, it was my turn to post the challenge. This means I can't participate in the voting or enter the contest, but I will post the other entries to my group when the challenge deadline is up so they can vote on them. I did make my own version of the prompt, however. Here's the prompt and my interpretation.
"This small house is in poor condition. The interior colors remind you of Halloween. The yard is small and well-trimmed."
I decided to build an old fishing cabin out on the lot by Stoney Falls. I envision the people who own it are empty-nesters who used to come out here with their two sons when the kids were little. They are now retired, but he used to be a miner and she enjoys painting. I started making the household, but was called away for irl duties, so I suspect someone else has moved in. Maybe either the husband or wife died, and the other sold the property in as-is condition and moved back to town or moved to be near one of the boys.
It was hard to get a good picture from the front because a mountain was in the way.
I hopped around town a bit to see what some of the residents were up to. Dina Russo went next door hoping to get to know the Wonzys better, but the Wonzys only had eyes for each other.
She did manage to say hi to Gwen and introduce herself to Holden, but then went home.
Meanwhile, at the Pyle residence. Naomi had discovered the cure elixir and tried it out on Denny, in hopes that it would cure his werewolf issue, but the message said he wasn't sick, so Lycanism isn't an illness, apparently.
They may just have to live with it.
