Adventureland #2 - The new school, a new random house challenge, and hanging with the Beaumont household.

After the kids from the Beaumont and Russo households almost but not quite met each other on Spooky Day, I decided I needed to get with building the school. It's a walk-in with a rabbithole rug and based somewhat on the school I attended 4th through 8th grade in. The roof over the multi-purpose room is at the wrong angle, however, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Oh, well, close enough.

This version is for both elementary and high school. The students can hang out for "after school activities" when the school day is over, or I can send them to school on snow days or other days off to refine their skills. In addition to the rabbithole rug it has restrooms, an elementary classroom, a music room, a library, a science room, an engineering room, an art room, a cafeteria area, and a stage for class presentations or school plays.

At first, I tried to make it a combo school and performance venue, but performance venues have specific hours that don't coincide with school hours, so students wouldn't be able to enter the building to attend school, so I had to switch it to a "visitors allowed" lot.

William Russo and Maggie Stone are the only teens in town at this point. They met each other in the art room.

Maggie autonomously made the sketch in the background. I was impressed as she had no painting skills at the time. I think the drafting table turns out higher quality art than the easels in the beginning.

Maggie always dresses a little avant-garde, but that's just her style. What are you looking at, William?

Most romances are born from proximity, and as they are the only teens so far, maybe they'll become a couple at some point.

There's a new challenge on my Facebook group. Another person actually won, but because of her medical struggles, she was unable to post the next challenge, so as runner up, it was my turn to post the challenge. This means I can't participate in the voting or enter the contest, but I will post the other entries to my group when the challenge deadline is up so they can vote on them. I did make my own version of the prompt, however. Here's the prompt and my interpretation.

"This small house is in poor condition. The interior colors remind you of Halloween. The yard is small and well-trimmed."

I decided to build an old fishing cabin out on the lot by Stoney Falls. I envision the people who own it are empty-nesters who used to come out here with their two sons when the kids were little. They are now retired, but he used to be a miner and she enjoys painting. I started making the household, but was called away for irl duties, so I suspect someone else has moved in. Maybe either the husband or wife died, and the other sold the property in as-is condition and moved back to town or moved to be near one of the boys.

It was hard to get a good picture from the front because a mountain was in the way.

I hopped around town a bit to see what some of the residents were up to. Dina Russo went next door hoping to get to know the Wonzys better, but the Wonzys only had eyes for each other.

She did manage to say hi to Gwen and introduce herself to Holden, but then went home.

Meanwhile, at the Pyle residence. Naomi had discovered the cure elixir and tried it out on Denny, in hopes that it would cure his werewolf issue, but the message said he wasn't sick, so Lycanism isn't an illness, apparently.

They may just have to live with it.

Between a werewolf husband and a destructive cat, poor Naomi may never get to have nice things! So she figured, why not to try to take in a stray dog?

When she got to the point where she could invite the dog in, he brought a friend with him. She named the big dog Gomer. The little dog managed to leave the house, but Gomer was stuck. I had to reset him, so he disappeared. Hopefully he'll show up again, but he's not officially part of the family. I've never been able to adopt a stray pet in the past, so I'm skeptical that I can do it this time.

Next I dropped in on the Beaumont family, who are now hounded by paparazzi. Lord Beaumont II decided to put on a ball to break up the winter monotony.  This is what I had in mind:

 This is the reality:

This was supposed to be a formal affair, but most of the commoners didn't get the memo. I discovered later that there seemed to be a hole in the roof that can't be seen from the upper floor. I had to delete and reset the floor up there, putting some flat roof tiles in those places. These guys were wearing their outerwear, I guess, but I don't know who classified overalls as winterwear. It looks like a bunch of farmers crashed the party.

Maggie sported her cheetah-themed outfit.

It's funny that the sketchy guy passing himself off as an old woman's grandson is one of the few that understands what formal wear is. (He's standing in the background to the right, perhaps a little star-struck by Korie.)

When I left this household last time, I wasn't sure if the actress Korie Devine was going to stay with her husband or fall for Alexander Beaumont, but it seems Lord Beaumont has set his cap for Sally Hardy, the premade explorer that was in this world when I started this project. After the crowd went home and the residents retired to the upstairs, they had some quality time together.

Alexander and Korie are still good friends, however. She's the only one he allows into his inner sanctum to watch TV with him.

They were watching the home shopping network together. Alexander offered to buy her some fancy shoes. She seemed thrilled at the idea.

He suggest she could wear them to the People's Choice awards show, should she get nominated for her performance on "The Balderdash Legacy."

She started wondering if being nominated was really a possibility.

Alexander left her alone with her thoughts and went to the dining room to rant about woohoo while poor Tracy tried to finish her homework at the table.

There's a new movie studio coming to town, and Korie plans on seeking some more acting work there, but for now, she likes to roam the mansion when everyone else is asleep, and enjoy the quiet.

Alexander forgot to pay the bills once, and lost his favorite art piece.

How embarrassing for him!

I'll leave you for now with a few more pictures of the family.

Korie apparently doesn't appreciate the butler's gossiping.

I'm sure they are violating some child labor laws here.

At least Maggie acquired some handiness skills and avoided dying.
