I played the Toledo County save last weekend. Here's how it went.
Guadalupe was still looking for Mr. Right.
Over half the population are at elder stage now, and I'm waiting for them to die off. Guadalupe at first entertained the idea of taking up with an elder . . . . This one blew her a kiss, but she was unimpressed.
And when she took an interest in this one, he was unimpressed.
Then she happened across Nate Grey, the single, family-oriented tattoo artist.
This was a match made in heaven, but for some reason she couldn't have romantic interactions with him. I thought about cheating him into the household, but resisted the urge. A few days later I got a notification that he had become an acrobat. Simfest was going on, and Guadalupe went to check it out. There he was. For a beginner, he was pretty good.
Guadalupe was impressed!
After his act was over, they both had a bite to eat in the diner. Then watched other acts while flirting with each other.
A few days later, Guadalupe asked Nate out to the pancake house. Apparently he had come from working out. (And he got a haircut.)
She baked him a banana cream pie, and shared it with the children who happened to be there.
"Why did these people sit down at our table? They aren't our parents!"
Later Nate and Guadalupe went out for some "grown up" fun at the Little Roses dance club.
This looked like it would develop on its own, so I move on to another family, expecting to get a message that they a) moved in together, or b)got married, and/or c) were expecting a child.
None of that happened, though. Apparently Nate's act was so popular he must have moved to Starlight Shores to make it big. At any rate, he disappeared, and isn't even showing up in Guadalupe's list of acquaintances when I returned to her. So . . . . meet candidate #2. (More on him later.)
The family I left to investigate was the Coons family who live in a tiny converted barn. (While I know they met in Toledo and produced the child here, I haven't played them yet, so I created my own backstory for them.)
Byron and Aja Coons were originally from Bridgeport. After years of living in the rat-race, Byron retired from the police force and Aja, who was in the military, was transferred to quiet little Toledo. They weren't upset about the move, however. They had a late in life daughter named Terri, and they thought it would be great for her to be able to grow up in "country goodness" away from the crime-infested city.
Byron is adventurous, good, family-oriented, handy and a hopeless romantic. He really wants to travel and see the world. He got an old dog and trained him to hunt.
Aja soon retired after moving to Toledo. She is ambitious so I don't know how long that will last. She is also a party animal, a genius, a green thumb, and an angler, so perhaps she will throw her energy into hobbies.
Little Terri is hot-headed, good, and artistic. (If it were possible, I'd edit the relationships and make her a grandchild whose mother chose to leave her to be raised by her grandparents while she tried to become a star, but I don't know how to do that, so late-in-life daughter she will remain.)
I have been denying residents their wishes to travel, but as Byron and Aja both really wanted to see Egypt before they died, and neither was getting any younger, I caved, and sent the whole family for a three day vacation. Here are their vacation photos. The ones they actually took were too blurry to put on their walls. 😕
They all wanted to see the pyramids, so they all visited the Pyramid of the Wind together.
They also explored a few other places and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the marketplace.

Water balloon fights seemed to be a popular pastime back at camp.
When they returned, I noticed there was a very high number of elders in Toledo. Apparently Grim thought so too, and was gearing up for some overtime by taking some rest and relaxation at the spa.
Toni seemed unperturbed at him standing behind her and looking over her shoulder.
I thought if I placed a retirement home in town and move some of the elders there, it might free up some houses for some young blood to move into town. I tried placing the one from my "I Love Old People" challenge, but it sunk too low into the ground, and I didn't know how to fix it, so I built a new one: The Silver Bird Gome Home.
I moved Rusty Tolbert and a couple without children in along with a single woman who is almost an elder (she's the caretaker), and I am looking for more to move. I sent the caretaker lady to check and see if anyone in this town has died yet, but no one has. The Vogt children were skulking around the cemetery, however, along with a zombie - Where are your parents, kids!
I'm going back to find a man for Guadalupe before she gets too old - she's almost an adult now. If she doesn't have any luck, she'll need to adopt a few kids so she can have the family she dreams of.
She's been so good with little Sullivan Metzger.
