LEPacy challenge: Birthdays, world's worst barista, a date gone wrong, and a reunion in China
LEPacy challenge: birthdays, world's worst barista, a date gone wrong, and a reunion in China.
Shortly after returning from France, Ming had a birthday and aged up to young adult.
Gunnar and family moved out to a cute little hippie-dippy cottage, where he built on a nectar-making room, and he and Marla seem happy there.
I got a notification that in addition to Malcolm, Gunnar and Marla had a second child and named him Jackie (Maybe he was named after Jackie Chan, as Gunnar is an avid martial artist.) I think he's the only sim I ever had that can pull off a Fu Manchu mustache.
A few days after Ming's birthday, Brant had his birthday and aged up to a child.  He also gained the mooch trait, so now he has that in addition to his grumpy and genius traits.  Garrett threw a small party inviting Maya Abbott (Brant's baby-mama) and Ming invited her boyfriend Scott Chesterfield even though he is married now. Garrett forgot to invite Gunnar, but luckily, he showed up anyway.
It was a small party, and all went well. Little Brant got a telescope for his birthday. Then he got into some kind of argument with Uncle Gunnar - I don't know what it was about. Something about a park bench? Brant got a makeover too - he was bald when he aged up, and I updated his wardrobe since this picture.
Ming, on the other hand, got along really well with Scott - they risky woohoo'd in her new place.
I don't think she got pregnant, however, although I was a bit nervous when I found her in the library reading "Totally Preggers."
I put a coffee bar in the Lakeshore Cabin, and my sims have been there a few times.  The coffee bar is manned by the world's worst barista.  His name is Ryan Buck, and I don't know how he manages to keep his job! He's seldom at his post, and when he is, he ignores those who want to buy coffee and instead chats it up with any random sim who greets him.  Poor Ming stood in line a very long time before giving up. This has happened on more than one occasion.  If my sims get enough money, they might buy the cabin and fire the guy!
Ryan is the guy in the green tee-shirt who is NOT standing behind the counter, but only thinking about it. In the background you can see one poor guy who is very hungry but was unable to be served because Ryan preferred to talk to the white-haired lady in the picture.  Maybe Ryan is contemplating his career choice as he clearly isn't into this job.
Garrett was given an opportunity to improve his career status by going to China and competing in a martial arts match.  He also needed to deliver some nectar to one of the merchants in that town, so he brushed up on his skills, and he and his kids set off to China. Ming was looking forward to seeing her sister and mother again.
Once they arrived in China, Garrett learned that the lady who wanted the nectar was no longer around.  I don't know if that means she died, or she moved way. He still has the goal to participate in a martial arts competition.  He called over the top martial arts competitor, and they sparred at the base camp.
This doesn't meet the requirements of the opportunity, however.  I looked it up, and I guess he needs to go to the academy and enact a competition there.  That's what he'll try next.
When he first arrived, Garrett was immediately called by Biyu (Ming's baby-mama). They had a nice chat.  Later he was called by Jianna Lu and asked out on a date.  Apparently he's very popular in China.  Jianna was rather stand-offish when they met up, however.  She balked at his flirtations, and when he took her to the Plum Blossom House, the new Asian restaurant, and tried to impress her with his culinary skills . . .
. . . she refused to join him at his table, but chose to sit at the cooking table instead.
When he tried to join her, she decided to turn her back on him and play on her phone. Never date a person who thinks what's on their phone is more interesting than you are!
Better luck next time, Garrett.
Garrett was not happy with how his date went and took it out on an innocent bystander.
He accused the guy of not having a brain, which surprised the guy, who considered himself well-read and intelligent.
Garrett doesn't need Jianna Lu anyway; Biyu is still interested in him, and he in her.
Speaking of Biyu, Ming's first order of business was to go look them up and become reacquainted.  Ming doesn't seem to hold a grudge, despite the fact that Biyu handed her over for the neighbors to raise. (Ming visited those neighbors too.)
Ming tried to take pictures of herself with her mother and her sister (also named Ming), but being unskilled with the camera phone, she had mixed results.
Brant also came with Garrett and Ming on the trip, but being a child, there's isn't a lot he can do. I think he might be able to collect some gems and rocks and such; he can read some of the China books, swim in the pools, fish, visit the Plum Blossom House and eat if someone else prepares some food and leaves it out, and play chess with the locals. That's about it.
The next goal is for Garrett to complete his assignment of participating in the martial arts competition.
