LEPacy Challenge: Gunnar's wedding, birth of Malcolm, trip to France, and other events.
My original plan was for Gunnar and Marla to get married in France, but Marla got pregnant and couldn't travel until the baby was born. So she donned her maternity wedding dress, and Gunnar arranged an afternoon wedding at the resort up the hill in Hidden Springs. About an hour before the wedding, Gunnar was hanging off the edge of the balcony contemplating his life choices. Did he really want to commit his life to a mean-spirited woman? Was he really ready to be a father and "adult"? Would he need to give up busking and gardening and take a steady job where he's trapped indoors all the time?
Marla told him to stop being such a baby and come down - at which point he slipped. Luckily, he was only on the second floor, and thanks to his strong athletic skills and martial arts training, he was able to glide down and land on his feet unscathed.
He promptly apologized to Marla for all his silliness and assured her that he did indeed want her to be his wife and was looking forward to the little bambino to make his or her appearance.
After that, the wedding went off without a hitch.
They exchanged rings . . .
He kissed the bride . . . (The girl sobbing in this picture is Cassidy Earthsong. She and Gunnar went on a date or two, but she spurned him due to his being socially awkward. They have managed to remain friends, however.
They cut the cake . . .
Then enjoyed it together.
Gunnar enjoys playing music for crowds as does Marla, so instead of hiring a band for the reception, they decided to provide the music themselves.
I half expected Marla to go into labor during the event, but she waited to have the baby until the following day. They named their baby boy Malcolm, and as he's still a "burrito" and not much to look at yet, I don't have a photo of him. The couple spent the night at the resort while the rest of the family went home. Marla is not liked by Ming or Garrett, and with the new baby, things are getting a little crowded. The group - without the toddler and baby - will take a trip to France, then it's time for Gunnar and Marla to find their own place. (I really like them and would like to play them more, so I will save them to the bin to use in another story at some point.) It will soon be time to pick between Ming and Brant to carry on generation 5. I'm thinking of having a poll for my Facebook group to decide which one will be heir.
The wedding coincided with Garrett's birthday - he aged up to adult.
It's time for him to evaluate his life goals and examine his priorities.
Gunnar is still dating Grayson Blake (the girl in the picture) and she's in the criminal career. He found this out when he went to return the stereo she asked him to upgrade for her. First he went to the address she gave for her work, (the Criminal Warehouse), but she was far too busy to even talk to him there. He went home and decided he'd try to drop it off at her house on the way to work the next morning. Grayson must have had a heck of a night, because she had passed out on her front lawn from exhaustion.
He did finally catch up with her at the grocery store later in the day.
After scaring her and returning the stereo, they began engaging in a public display of affection right in front of Mr. Abbott - baby Brant's mother's husband and victim of Garrett and Maya's affair.
The couple then went into the grocery store together and found a secluded spot to woohoo - only it wasn't as secluded as they thought. They were caught by security and kicked out of the store. Garrett didn't even have time to put his clothes back on! How embarrassing!
In addition to this escapade, Garrett threw a kegger awhile back - he had sent Ming to the library to study - and the police raided the party and sent the guests packing.
After the guests were gone, she had the nerve to help herself to the keg!
At any rate, the group is now in France: Garrett is collecting nectar to take back to China to fulfill an adventure he agreed to, Gunnar and Marla are on their honeymoon and taking nectar-making lessons, and Ming is starting her relic collection as she wants to have her own private museum when she grows up.
