Be Happy World #4 - Quinn loses two cobblers, but gets a girlfriend; getting to know Patty Wolfe
I adjusted my rules a little. In light if the fact that the population is aging and Quinn had his brush with death on account of the fire, I decided I really needed to add a mausoleum to the world, so I can keep those who die in the world - even if they don't die on my watch. I put in an empty, but nicely decorated graveyard, using Quinn's happiness points to justify it. I bent the rules with the decorations, but what the heck.
Quinn bought some replacement furniture for his home and cleaned up. He tinkered alot with the fireplace and raised his handiness skill, but for some reason - "upgrade to fireproof" doesn't seem to be an option with this particular fireplace. Also, I learned something disturbing about the baker's oven. Quinn managed to make cookies, dinner rolls, and bread, but each time he tries for a cobbler, it goes into the oven and never comes out! I may have to get him a standard oven in the future.
The big news is that Quinn got a new love in his life. Meet Florence Mathis.
Quinn ran into her at Paparazzi Park and they hit it off immediately. She says she's a babysitter, and she seems to have plenty of free time to hang out with him - unlike the people who tend the registers 24/7. He learned that she is flirty and family-oriented.
Quinn had been feeling lonely and thinking he needed to find someone to start a family with. Florence is quite a bit younger than him, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Shortly after meeting Florence, Quinn went to The Trading Post (elixir store) to cut some gems he had found and consign them along with some metals. While he was there, he asked the Magic 8 ball if he would find true love. It told him to check back later during business hours.
He decided to throw a house party and invite everyone he knew - including Florence. He ordered pizza, his friend Tommie brought some chocolate pie, and Shannon Olivares brought his fiddle to play. Shannon is NOT GOOD at it yet - I hope he gets better. While Quinn was cozying up to Florence, Tommie was looking a little bored and annoyed.
He decided a good ghost story was in order.
The party was a hit, and after everyone else left, Quinn and Tommie sat down and ate some pie together.
The next day, Quinn asked Florence to go dancing with him at Santiago's. He had just gotten off work and was still wearing his private eye outfit. (This other guy is a paparazzi who seems to have the same fashion sense as Quinn did when I first visited him.)
Things were really going well, but Quinn was really tired. He asked Florence to come home with him.
After a cup of fancy coffee, Quinn was ready for more.
She spent the night, but they didn't woohoo until morning after both were rested up. I expected them to woohoo in the bed, but they had other ideas.
I didn't know they could woohoo in the closet! 😆
Anyway, I think Quinn can take it from here - You've got this buddy! Patty Wolfe just had a baby recently, and I know she and Tommie (the baby daddy) weren't getting along, so I'll go check on her.
It's a good thing I checked! Even though this house has a crib, I found Patty chained to the bookstore register at the mini mall, and baby Bridgett lying on the doorstep!
I tried to get Patty to leave work and come put her in the crib at least, but she kept going back to the register. I had to click on her use her phone to find a different job. The mausoleum came up as a part-time job, which I thought would be perfect as this would enable Patty to spend quality time with Bridgett as she ages up to a child. The graveyard is empty of graves still, so I wonder what she does. Maybe she's in charge of keeping the grounds and fountain nice.
This is going to be tough on the family financially because Patty will have most of her paycheck taken up with babysitting costs, but she has the frugal trait and a small nest egg to see her through until Bridgett can fend for herself and Patty can find something full time. Patty wants to become a mixologist and own a bar - a lofty goal for a middle aged woman with no skills at the time I came to visit, but we'll give it a go. With her funds, I bought her a juice bar so she can practice making drinks while being at home with Bridgett. She wanted a professional bar, but first things first, Patty! I also redecorated and remodeled the house to suit them. (This house was built in a different game and dropped into this one. When I build houses I tend to leave the interior with just the bare minimum for Sims to live there - what they need to eat, sleep, and take care of their hygiene. Then I wait to see who moves in and decorate for that particular family.)
Patty's favorite color is orange, and Bridgett's is blue, so here you go.
Bridgett aged up almost immediately after bringing her inside, so she must have been lying on that doorstep for 3 days!
Patty is overweight and out of shape, much like I am irl. Since she had a really big bedroom, the town doesn't have a gym, and she probably couldn't go even if it did without going broke to pay a sitter, I gave her a treadmill in her bedroom. I'm going to try to get her to use it most mornings to see if she can trim down, and then I'll give her some new clothes and maybe a new hairstyle. Most of her clothes are tolerable for now, except maybe her swimsuit as see by the pie eating contest/polar bear swim night the previous winter.
Bridgett has to have a babysitter while Patty works her job from 6 pm to 9 pm, and it costs 75 simoleons. Patty makes 99 simoleons - if she works the whole shift - so you can see money is tight. I was wondering, since Quinn's girlfriend Florence is a babysitter, if she would be the one to show up at the house, but instead Rebecca Hightower showed up. Bridgett really likes her, and Rebecca is really attentive, so all's good.
As predicted, Patty is able to spend more time with Bridgett, and I think that makes her happier. I normally don't like playing families with little kids, but I'm really enjoying this one.
This trip to the Renaissance Faire was a splurge - Patty only made 50 simoleons at work but still had to pay 75 to Rebecca for babysitting. It was worth it, though.
Bridgett didn't want to go home.
Patty has one more work day until she has two days off. I think she will throw a house party and invite everyone she knows - except Tommie. (We'll see if he crashes anyway.)
