Be Happy World #3 - Finished To-Do list - Adventures with Quinn
In case I haven't mentioned this, Tommie Furst is the first person in this town, and I randomized him. Since then, all other characters have been computer-generated and placed in the game through Story Progression. Since the population is very small, I have been able to hop from household to household and get to know these people, so at this point, I know all the resident characters except Patty Wolfe, who I will visit next episode.
First on my to-do list from last posting: take pictures of the Asian-inspired house.
Here's the front, back, and interior layout.
It kind of looks like I put the baby in the garage, and it's clear that it's not decorated, but I have the baby stage set at 2-3 days and the toddler at 7, because they drive me crazy. The toddlers are cute and you can do more with them, which is why they get more days than the babies. This child is a toddler and will age up in a couple days, so I didn't bother with a fancy nursery. The kids' room has bunkbeds so there will be enough room for this family for awhile. Unless . . . you may note a pile of garbage in the baby's room, which I was having Irvin take out, and Kerri is relaxing of the bed while Irvin is about to join her. These fools autonomously did risky woohoo as I was trying to take these pictures! Maybe I do need to spruce up that nursery.
Next on my to-do list was to find out what Tommie's girlfriend's name is. It's Patty Wolfe, and she lives in what was the only empty house in this world. I thought I remember a notification that she and Tommie had a baby, but that hasn't happened yet - she's only pregnant. On a side note, there was a notification that she and Tommie got into a big argument, so I don't know if that relationship is going to hold together.
I dropped in at the Mayer household and had Santiago take the fountain of youth potion he had in his inventory. He was an elder, so I thought it would only take him back to the adult stage, but he went back to the young adult stage - so now he is younger than his wife Kami.
Then I went next door to Quinn Whiting's house to see what he was about. The reason he was seldom home is that he works at the bookstore, and I don't think I can set his hours. One thing I did was try to find him another job. When I had switched to Shannon Olivares, who worked at a register, he promptly quit that job and indicated he wanted to be a home designer. Quinn didn't do this.
Quinn is quite an enigma. The first wish he had was that he wanted to be a lifeguard, which would have been doable in this world, but I nixed it for reasons I'll explain later. Next, he wanted to learn how the scuba dive - nope. He had no skills, but there is a bass sitting in the bookstore. (Don't ask me why; I don't remember placing it there, but it might be possible that one of the other characters left it there?) There were no skill books on the shelves in the bookstore, and since Quinn couldn't buy from the register because he would have to be able to sell to himself, he took up the bass for something to do while waiting for customers. I had to make him quit that job because he kept leaving home and running to tend the register. He became a private investigator. I discovered that he had two copies of the first logic book and two copies of the first cooking book at home in his bookcase.
He should have read the cooking book before attempting to cook his mac and cheese. This is what happened on his first attempt.
I know this boy has no idea how to dress himself - rest assured we went to the armoire and remedied that while I was visiting him. While he was trying to put out the fire (there is no fire department in this world yet) the phone started ringing, which created more chaos.
No Tommie, I don't want to go sailboarding with you. I know I was born under the sign of Aquarius, always run around in swim trunks and want to be a life guard and learn to scuba dive, but in reality, I'm hydrophobic! (Yes, that is one of his traits.)
After replacing his old cheap stove with a baker's oven (because I hadn't played with it much yet) His neighbor Kami came over to ask if he had tried it out yet. Did he happen to have any pie? Quinn couldn't get his feelings of hydrophobia out of his mind - this clearly is something he wants to overcome.
Other traits that Quinn possesses are good sense of humor (which he definitely needs, as you will soon see), loves the outdoors, handy (which we are working on developing and he clearly needs), and dog person.
Speaking of dogs, meet his dog Gabby. Quinn is having a nice time with Gabby as they sit in front of the fire together on a cool spring evening.
This didn't last long, however. (I really should learn that Sims who live alone should never light fires in their fireplaces! But what would be the fun in that?) 😂
Now we have a predicament! Gabby has no thumbs and no fire extinguisher, and this house only has a bathtub. Apparently a Sim on fire can't fill a bathtub! What to do? Run next door to the neighbors - they have a hot tub in their courtyard and they also have a shower somewhere in their house.
He goes next door only to find that he is in too much of a panic to ring the doorbell! I was about to try switching to the Mayer household (owners of the house) and have them let him in, but I was also in a panic and when I saw that a child was the only one home, I completely forgot about the hot tub plan and the fact that Quinn could get access to the shower and only thought "But a child can't use a fire extinguisher!" so what next? There's a pond behind some empty lots across the street - run Quinn run!
Meanwhile, back home the fire rages because I have no fire department in this town yet. Maybe that's more important than the school at this point.
Quinn reaches the water and manages to extinguish himself - just in time!
Then he remembers - "Didn't I cry this morning after taking a bath? Didn't I refuse to go sailboarding with Tommie? What am I doing?! I'm hydrophobic!" (I was afraid he might drown or something, but luckily, I guess hydrophobic doesn't mean he CAN'T swim - just that he doesn't like to swim.)
Quinn makes it back to shore and shakes off his heebie-jeebies from being immersed in water and remembers his house is still on fire!
"Um, Quinn? We just got home and noticed there is smoke pouring out of your house. Are you okay in there?"
"Sorry, I'm a little busy here and can't answer the door right now!"
"Well, I'll just go home then," says Kami.
"Who could be calling me at a time like this!"
"Maybe I'll start my new career tomorrow and get my house in order today."
