North Winds Reboot, Part 18 - Splitting Up and Getting Together

It's now day 22 in Pounawea, and so much has happened that I had to turn off Story Progression and spend some time making it make sense. Here's what I came up with.

Rosamel is still working on her goal of graffitiing every public women's restroom in town. She seems to be in her "people with hats" phase.

In addition to this, she has been working on her acrobatic skills and seeing Demario Wofford on the sly. It turns out Demario is a scientist, not a doctor, but either way he'd be quite the eligible bachelor IF he was a bachelor, which he isn't.

Demario is married to Josephine who is a friend of Angelo's. Angelo met her at the consignment store. She was the consignment store cashier. In the previous episode, Rosamel autonomously sent an insulting text to Josephine.

It turns out that when I wasn't watching, Rosamel and Calvin got in a big argument, and Rosamel moved into a cute little house on the beach.

This is Rosamel's new house. It looks really small, but it has two bedrooms of decent size.

The views from the deck are nothing to sneeze at either. I personally would be quite happy living here.

In addition to the two bedrooms and one bathroom, there's this open kitchen, dining, and living room.

I suspect the motivation behind Rosamel moving out was she wanted to create a private love nest for her and Demario.

They have been on a few dates together - out at the golf course is one of their favorite places.

Rosamel worked up the courage to confront Demario and ask that he break things off with Josephine if he wanted to continue having a relationship with her - she was tired of being "the other woman." She already has a naughty reputation around town.

Josephine is indeed upset with Rosamel - especially after Demario moved out of their house and in with Rosamel. She encountered Rosamel and Demario in the library.

She was so mad, she refused to let Demario use the computer next to where she was sitting.

I think Demario is enjoying this more than he has a right to. To spare Josephine's feelings and avoid causing a scene, Rosamel and Demario decided not to sit with each other.

Calvin showed up at the library too, so Rosamel took the opportunity to mend fences with him.

"I'm sorry we fought, but I really do think it's best for our relationship if I keep my own place. I know it's easier to move if we're all in one house, but we all get that feeling about a day before the move actually happens, so I can make sure I move back in at that point. We might be here for several years, and I don't want to feel like I can't put down roots or start my own family.

Calvin understood and was touched at her apology. They made plans to get together and enjoy some golf.

Love Day came around, and Rosamel and Demario spent some time in the park together, even woohooing in the playhouse. Wouldn't you know it: Demario's ex-wife Josephine showed up, and she wasn't happy.

Demario spotted her over on the swing, and tried schmoozing her. She was not amused.

"Must you make such a scene?! Get over it already! You're ruining my day!" he spat.

"Honey, maybe we should just go," Rosamel interjected. "Let's go check out the festival, okay?"
They left Josephine alone in the sandbox. Happy Love Day, Josephine.

Rosamel and Demario went on to have a good time at the festival.

Meanwhile, Josephine decided to go spill her sorrows to her good friend Angelo.

"I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I love my daughter, but she's always been a handful. She just has too much of her mother in her, I guess. Her mother Abigail was a former University Mascot and was quite the flirt and party-girl. I lost my heart to her, then she had Rosamel. I thought it best if she and Rosamel moved in with us, so Rosamel could have both a mother and father under one roof.

Then Abigail started playing me against my father and eventually dumped me for my father, though he wasn't the only one she had on the hook. She flirted with just about every man in town. The whole thing really damaged my relationship with my father. We live in the same house, but mostly live as strangers.

I'm not making excuses for Rosamel's behavior, but in retrospect, I think she had adults around her who weren't such a good influence. Maybe I shouldn't have let Abigail move in and should have challenged her for custody instead."

It only made sense that Angelo would move in with Josephine, so he did, leaving Calvin in the original house alone. Calvin quickly converted Calvin's room into an additional workspace for his artwork. He's been a little lonely, but has been cranking out some paintings and spending more time at the gallery trying to sell them. It seems that the Pounaweans don't appreciate art, or maybe it's just Calvin's art that they don't appreciate. So far, he's only sold one item in the past few days, but he's trying, and it gets him out of the house and meeting people.

Rosamel stopped by to update him on what's going on in her life.

"I got my first real gig a few weeks back," she explained. "I went up to the proprietor and showed her my flexibility."

"She was impressed and said I could have the Monday night slot."

"I was so nervous. I got myself a bite to eat at the bistro on the main level before the show. I met a woman named Leah Pie who said she was coming to the performance.

I told her I was so nervous I was feeling nauseous, and she said she's never nauseous unless she's pregnant.

I explained that I wasn't pregnant, I just didn't want to feel like a clown."

"Leah said she writes for the newspaper, and if I was any good, she'd write a glowing article about me."

"Soon it was time to start the show.

First I warmed up with some acrobatic poses.

Then I performed the human statue. But where was the audience? Where was the lady who said she was going to attend? Surely she will show up.

To my relief, everyone was all just fashionably late. I had an audience of only four, but they were very enthusiastic and encouraging - eventually. At first I juggled fire to polite applause, but as the act progressed, so did their enthusiasm.

I had one mishap with the fire, but I figured the show must go on. I think my perseverance is what really impressed the audience.

I completed the act with a scorched tush, but for the most part, it went well.

Maybe I'll get a glowing article after all.

Finally the show ended, and I could spend some time with my adoring fans.

However, it looks like I'll need to put my career on hold for a little while because . . .

I'm pregnant!"

"That's wonderful, honey! You'll be such a good mother."

A short time earlier, Angelo was planning a party. He scheduled for a time when Josephine was away, so he could invite Rosamel over and show her his new place.

Rosamel told him all about her upcoming performance, but didn't realize she was pregnant at this time. They had a nice talk.

Then Amir Wyatt-Downing came up to her and offered her flowers. She was so surprised. Angelo was confused because he knew Amir was married to his good friend Grace, the ghostbuster.

Was this man really that brazen?

Then the man doubled-down on the flowers. Rosamel was flattered. Meanwhile, Demario was trying to impress Karrie Winnebego, who was not impressed at all.

That is until Angelo mentioned that Demario had a lot of influence with the folks at city hall. Karrie had been trying to get a job at city hall forever, so changed her tune and decided to cozy up to Demario.

Needless to say, Rosamel was not happy with this turn of events.

Before Rosamel could storm over and make a scene, who should come home but Josephine!

Josephine was obviously upset to find Rosamel and Demario at the party.

Rosamel got a call from Calvin who was unable to make it to the party. He asked how things were going. "Funny you should ask," Rosamel replied.

Calvin was tired of seeing this woman who came to his party and then spent the entire time with her nose in a book. He decided to shake things up a little. Demario wasn't sure this was appropriate behavior for a host.

If someone can sneak and greet at the same time, it's Angelo! What a goofball! He decide to give Amir a start as well for flirting with his daughter while Grace was at work.

Josephine, having gotten over the initial shock of finding her ex-husband and his new girlfriend in her house, decided to create some mischief of her own. She sat down on the couch where Demario was sitting, and proclaimed loudly that she and Angelo were going to get married. (This was news to me. I shut Story Progression off, but might have to turn it on again to see if it really happens or if she was just trying to get a rise out of Demario. Poor Mollie Bagley as caught in the middle of this exchange.)

"We're going to get married the first chance we get, just you wait and see," she said. Mollie seemed a little doubtful, but decided to play along.

"You'll make such a beautiful bride!" Mollie enthused. "I just love weddings!"

"Best of luck to you, dear." Demario said.

A few days after Rosamel announced her pregnancy to her grandfather Calvin, they met up at the Hole 9 club. (Boy was that a hike for Rosamel! She waddled along forever. I was sorry to put her through that, but she's a trouper!) After a game of pool, they went out and hit a few balls. Rosamel ran into Amir-the-flower-man. (I think he's stalking her.)

She told him she was pregnant, and he seemed quite happy for her, so maybe he'll stop pursuing her.

He announce he had just earned an online degree, so Rosamel congratulated him, and they parted ways.

Perhaps that long waddle to the club triggered it, but Rosamel went into labor the following morning.

She was blessed with twin girls: Ember, who is adventurous and evil, and Ella, who is adventurous and neurotic. Who will be the heir for generation 7, and who will be left behind with Demario? Time will tell.
