Desert Mountains - a mini-project save file (Part 1)
I watched CJ Play's world overview of Desert Mountains created by Visty6 last week. It appears to be a phoned-in/abandoned world from many years ago. The builds are nothing to write home about, mostly EA rabbithole buildings and two partially finished houses, but I loved the map.
I went in and removed the rabbithole buildings (except the school - I'm not sure if I'm going to keep that one or replace it) and placed some of my own buildings and those of others, using rabbithole rugs. I still have about two farms and a festival lot I want to build, but here's what I got so far. It was fun to revisit some of the builds and find things I wanted to improve upon. I plan on using this as a potential world my Northern Winds family can move to.
Starting with the yellow house in the foreground, this one I think is from Lucky Palms (which I don't own.) I found it on the Exchange but I don't know whose it is because there were several versions uploaded by different people, but this one looks very EA starter home.
The mint green one across the street from it is by KCity74 (aka fatness1974 on the Exchange.) It's the Carnival Cottage from the Bayou Bijou collaboration.
The brown house and the green one beside it are two versions of the same Sears kit house called "The Bandon" that I built a while back. The brown one is fully furnished, and the green one is the "budget version" with only the essential furniture for a sim to move in.
Across the street is a house I built from a modern floorplan called "Franklin Ranch," and next to it is the Rodeo Grounds I made in Appaloosa Plains by removing the rabbithole building and building it back as a walk-in with the rabbithole rug at the entrance.
Beyond the Rodeo Grounds, you can see the roof of one of my favorite houses, "Jenny's Cottage," that I built from a modern floorplan. I love this particular house because it would really suit me in real life if I were to move out of my tri-level due to my bad knees.
Coming back the other direction, you can see The Pit Stop on the corner, which I built for Cape Albacore, and next to it is the horse training grounds created by EA, and next to that is my Civic Complex.
This is downtown. Starting at the top and going clockwise is the Civic Complex which has the hospital, police station & military recruitment building, and the library/city hall. You can see the training grounds and down from it is the fire station with an attached pub/brewery I made originally for Roseward. Down from that is the corner grocery store I made for Adventureland, then down from that is the Wayside Mercantile and Salon/Spa that I built in a different world I was exploring and also used in Adventureland. Across the street is the High Plains Shopping Center I built several years ago in Appaloosa Plains. It's current iteration has a bookstore, florist shop, and coffee shop, with two vacant shops on the upper level for additional growth. Above that is the central park, created by the world creator - I only changed the color of the pavement because I felt it was too loud. Then there's the school on the left, where I also changed the color of the pavement but left everything else as the world creator had it. Above the school is the psychiatrist's office of Dr. Ellen Talbot that I built for Barnacle Bay. She lives above her office with a brother of one of her college roommates, who just took a job in town and needed a place to stay until he gets settled.
Up the hill behind the school is Widow Williams' Cabin, created by DavisSM for Bijou Bayou. To the right of it is a shell of a house created by the world creator, that I finish out (picture to follow.) Beyond it lies the Kine Dairy, from Strangetown (the version created by aaronroger8i3) that I made some minor edits to. And beyond it is the Pappaw J Salvage Yard, created by Kcity74/fatness1974 for Bayou Bijou.
Here's my version of the shell house in the picture above. Across the street are three empty lots where I plan on turning two of them into small farms like this one.
Off in the distance is Banyan Retreat (minus the banyan trees) created by Sandraelle for Bayou Bijou.
Out on the coast is the fisherman's cabin I made for Adventureland (I revamped the inside so it's not as run down and it was for Adventureland. And to the right is The Lodge, which I made several years ago and is in bad need of a remodel so the floorplan makes more sense.
Closeups of most of the lots:
The Lodge
The Fisherman's Cabin
Jenny's Cottage
Franklin Ranch
The Sears kit houses "The Bandon"
The Civic Complex : hospital and library/city hall
The Civic Complex: police station/military recruitment building and a peek at the little garden behind the hospital.
Dr. Ellen Talbot's home and psychiatry office.
The Kine Dairy
Banyan Retreat. (I'm thinking of putting in a small trailer court on the lot across from it, but I'm not sure yet.
The fire station and pub/brewery (has professional bar, pizza oven, and karaoke area.)
The corner grocery store (that isn't technically on a corner in this iteration.)
Wayside Mercantile and Salon/Spa
High Plains Shopping Center
The park and school. I might get rid of one of the ponds in the park in favor of a kid's playground.
The lot at the top of the picture is the future site of the festival grounds.
The world creator designated this lot as the cemetery, but didn't have anything here, so I made a simple one.
This is the world creator's mostly finished house - it has some empty rooms in it.
