Tiny Town part 12 - Welcome, Ziggy Perch
Ziggy Perch has joined Tiny Town.
Ziggy is frugal, easily impressed, a born salesman, an angler, and an animal lover who seems to want to befriend every dog in town. The first thing he wants to do is be friends with Cyprus' dog Floyd.
His lifetime wish is to have a perfect private aquarium with 13 perfect fish of different species kept in fishbowls. As luck would have it, Ziggy arrived in late fall, so the ponds are often frozen over and the beach area is the only viable place to fish year around. For now he's staying in the guest rooms of the various Tiny Town residents. Getting enough money to build a house solely on selling fish he's caught will take FOREVER! So like Beatrice, I'm going to focus on him getting lifetime reward points by achieving his wish and fulfilling his wants. Once he gets to 30,000, we'll get the inheritance lifetime reward. That and what he brings in fishing should be enough to build and furnish a modest mid-century home for a frugal sim. I let Ziggy tap into the town funds for his other expenses.
He was wanting to own some venues. Cyprus already bought the consignment store. Ziggy, being an animal lover and an angler, purchased the Cuddle Cat Cafe (the cat jungle) and Cinnamon Crest Falls (a fishing spot.) For now he's keeping his perfect fish in fishbowls at Cuddle Cat Cafe, but they don't seem to be counting toward his goal - probably because it's on a community lot and not his home lot. Once I have 13 of them, I'll move them to his home lot and see if that works. He has about ten so far.
One thing I didn't realize is that the decor in the fishbowls change depending on the kind of fish.
This save has seen better days. It's been crashing a lot lately. I think the problem really started when I began taking random townies to CAS using Nraas in order to reduce the pudding face issue. Maybe I need to leave them alone. I've saved everyone in Tiny Town in their current state, both with and without the houses, in case the game implodes on me. I've done the usual clearing of caches and deleting thumbnails in the featured items folder and such, but there were still issues. Here are the warning signs I'm getting.
For awhile, I was getting the error 12 when I tried to save. I did a Master Controller reset the entire town, and it emptied the inventories of all the Tiny Town residents and put everything in the build/buy "cardboard box." I was worried that something in there might be corrupted so I tried "sell all" to get rid of the items and get some money. There was A LOT of items in the box, and I think the system couldn't handle it. The game crash in the middle of trying to sell everything off. Next I tried I deleting one item or stack of items at a time. (Cyprus had 268 pieces of scrap for some reason. It might have been from the simbot's inventory as well, but I'll get to that in a minute. I was afraid that the game was going to crash again when I attempted to sell the scrap, but it just took longer than usual.)
Once I did this, things were working better. Now I need to check on these situations:
Guess who this woman is who is dancing with Cyprus at their Snowflake Day celebration. This is Mandie the simbot! I wanted a little extra space in the household just in case there was an unplanned pregnancy or something. She left looking like a simbot, then showed up looking like this, but still sounding and moving like a simbot. And people still recognize her as a simbot.
You sneaky, mean-spirited contraption! What kind of voodoo is this? Furthermore, how did Vidcund Curious get to look less than human? Annie invited him over from Strangetown to visit awhile back and he showed up like this:
Vidcund was interested in Opal and asked her out.
They went to the photobooth and had some pictures taken, and he looked normal in the pictures.
And why do the kids come around trick or treating in the winter and spring? Where are their parents?
Poor Beatrice seems taken aback. Maybe she thought one of the gnomes came to life. I sold them all, by the way. There were so many of them, I thought they might be contributing to the lag too.
Now let's turn our attention to the more significant events that took place in the winter and so far in the spring.
Tiny Town had it's traditional Snowflake Day celebration. This year it was Saul Fox who got the coal. He was not amused!
"Which one of you jackasses came up with this prank? You are so childish!"
I think Bea was getting a little nervous. She got coal last year, and now she sees that Ziggy got one of those weird stuffed frog toys.
Frank, the gardener, got a plant. "Wow, I didn't have enough of those!"
"I wonder if Santa realizes he already gave me an easel last year. Is he getting senile? Where am I going to put all of the extras?"
"Hehe! Santa gave me an easel AGAIN too!" Azure giggled. "He's not very creative, is he?"
Meanwhile, Beatrice is getting sleepy. Time to see what she got this year. It can't be worse than last year.
It turns out she got a bicycle. Score!
Cyprus got a fishbowl this year, and Annie got another gaming system. Maybe it's a newer model than last years.
All Floyd wanted for Snowflake Day was table scraps, but he was out of luck.
Annie's boyfriend Tracy Upchurch wasn't at the party. The dude never calls her. I think he's going to lose her to another man. She danced the night away with Saul Fox.
Last year, I caught Cyprus and Annie out slow dancing in the snow. This year with his dance partner taken . . . .
(This was before I kicked Mandie the simbot out.) I think everyone is an adult now except Ziggy, (the new guy), and Annie who took an age freeze potion, so she could be 29 years old indefinitely.
Beatrice seems to be having problems with her boyfriend Terry Grossman. She met up with her old alien friend Paguk and spotted Maisy Adler flirting with him.
It will be interesting to see where the Tiny Town crew's lives take them when I move on to another household. (If the game lasts that long.)
Ziggy went out on the town to get to meet some new people. He befriended Vance Whipsnake who obviously came from the festival.
I swear this is the most crowded I've seen this particular bar.
It seems to be too many people for Vance.
Annie, Cyprus and Opal all wanted to get or make elixirs so they set off to the Elixir Warehouse together.
Cyprus concocted some kind of love potion that all of them drank and became very friendly with everyone they saw - including each other. ("Who wants a hug?")
Elias Adler, passed away, which greatly upset Opal. I guess she was still struck by the fact that he said he had wanted to marry her until he saw her out with another man. Beatrice tried to comfort her.
"Trust me Opal, you can do so much better that old Elias Adler. Why don't you go take a nice soothing bubble bath and call up a YOUNG man to keep you company, okay?"
Opal took Beatrice's advice and asked Derik Guillen out to the Spring Festival. Maybe it was too soon. She cried on Derik's shoulder which was apparently a big turnoff for Derik . . . .
because he immediately went over to the kissing booth.
"Hey little girl, wanna French? I'll pay a little extra if you're game."
"No sir, our policy here is NO TONGUE!"
Maybe this is Derik's first time kissing someone. It doesn't look like he knows what he's doing.
"I SAID NO TONGUE! You kiss like a horse eating an ice cream cone!"
Derik's such a dork! Opal can do better. They spent the rest of the day just being friends.
Opal is thinking of taking up some new hobbies to get her mind off Elias. She wants to learn how to play the guitar and develop the street art skill. Maybe Azure can give her some pointers with the street art. She painted this cute mural in the Elixir store's bathroom.
That's it for now.
