Lunastia - Part 1 - A space-themed build-a-colony asylum project.
I've been wanting to do an asylum style play-through and also start a new build-a-city game, so I thought I'd combine them. I found a completely empty planet world and placed down the "Memories of Twinbrook" dome from Lunar Lakes. I made it a residential lot and put a basement under it with my team's living quarters. I'm mostly going to watch them and see what they do on their own. I know I will need to nudge once in awhile, but I'm only going to give each sim one nudge per day and keep track of various goals they accomplish every few days. They will be judged on skills gained, friends made, number of happiness points accrued, and good and bad choices. They will lose points for doing things that are detrimental to the team such as making enemies, fighting, or sabotaging equipment. By the end of two sim-weeks, each sim will be rewarded according to their accomplishments and sent out to set up their own homes.
There are six sims - 3 males and 3 females. Their traits have been randomized and their Lifetime Wishes aren't tied to rabbithole careers. Let's meet the first cohort of colonists for planet Lunastia.
Kendrick Hogue- Overemotional, Brooding, Hotheaded, Unstable, and Evil. When he's not scaring people, he's in a corner brooding. I really didn't look at the traits when I made these sims, but within seconds I could tell he was going to be the most colorful character.
He is starting to bond with Camille Underwood, who is also a technophobe trying to sabotage the equipment. In addition to being a Technophobe, she's Ambitious, Avant Garde, a Snob, and a Supernatural Fan.
Not cool, Camille!
Traci Negrete - She's a Loner, Adventurous, Ambitious, a Computer Whiz, and a Vegetarian. It's only day two and she looks like she has had quite enough of her team's antics.
Traci swiped the only computer I put down here as I didn't want every sim playing video games the entire time. I had to take it out of her inventory because one of them - Precious, wanted to register as a self-employed gardener after I made 5 of the 6 go to the surface and tend the garden. The one I didn't force into farm labor was Westly Decker.
Westley is miles ahead in work ethic and ambition. He was the only one who gained a skill on the first day. He's a virtuoso, so was drawn to the laser instrument. By the end of day two, he was at level 3 or 4. In addition to being a virtuoso, Westley Love to Swim, is Clumsy, Eccentric, and a Coward.
In addition to being the only one who seems motivated to learn skills, he's the only one who prepared and ate healthy food so far. He made autumn salad and cheesesteak sandwiches from the food synthesizer - everyone else just ate pie. Not only that, he's the only one with the gumption to try cooking meals, making a nice lemon lasagna. He's the "trusty" so I sent him out to pay bills and get the mail. Otherwise everyone is locked in to the dome and basement.
Finally, we have Precious Shaw. She's a Natural Born Performer, an Unlucky Daredevil, a Cat Person, and a Snob. One of the first things she did upon entering the lot was fight the rooster.
Here's the habitat.
The dome already came with plenty of harvestables and some chess tables. I added the chicken coop, a fish spawner in the small pond, and some bee boxes. A few days later I also added the prosperity tree.
The university mascot and his fancy car are kinda killing the vibe here. The racoon, wild horses, and ice cream truck also made an appearance.
Here's the living quarters. Starting at the top going clockwise, we have the sleeping quarters, the gym, the science room, the common area with skill/recreation items, the kitchen, the library, the nursery in the event that babies are produced, the nectar-making room, and the rest is empty so far.
I'm into day three now, and here are the stats on the team:
Kendrick has 1 skill in art and 1 in gardening (with prompts) but has lost 3 points for scaring people.
Camille has 1 skill in gardening (with prompts) and made 1 friend, but has lost 2 points for trying to sabotage the equipment. She would have lost more if she had actually been successful.
Brandon has managed to avoid gaining any skills, but has made 1 friend. Like Camille, he has lost 2 points for trying to sabotage the equipment.
Traci has 1 skill in logic (with prompts)
Wesley had reached level 4 in rhythm-a-com (8 points for doing this autonomously) He also gets 2 points for making healthy eating choices.
Precious has 1 skill in gardening and she's getting an extra point for wanting to be a gardener as a career. ( I will give them points if they choose a career I can give them that falls withing the bounds of the project - self-employed options only.)
By Friday, Westley was in the lead with a total of 24 points - mostly because he does everything autonomously so his points double. He was followed by Traci and Precious, each with 12 points. Then Kendrick with 10. Kendrick has the most happiness points of the bunch. He has only scared one sim that I know of, and stole Precious' clothes while she was skinny-dipping in the hot tub.
Next we have Camille with a whopping 2 points. She gained a lot of points but won't quit sabotaging the equipment. By Friday, there were 6 broken items, (mostly bathrooms) so I sent each sim to fix one thing as they were all determined to mop puddles but not fix the root of the problem. I assigned poor clumsy Westley to fix the science machine. Sorry Westley, my mistake.
Why don't you go try to fix one of the bathrooms.
No sooner had the brain enhancement machine been repaired, then Camille sabotaged it again. As for Brandon, he stands at zero points. I think he had earned 10 points but lost them all from trying to sabotage the equipment. He likes spending his time, when he isn't trying to break things, either playing dominos or dancing.
We'll see what the weekend brings.
