LEPacy challenge: The move, Ming Hong, and the axe

The poll that I posted on Facebook asking where to move the household indicated Hidden Springs, so that's where the brothers went.  They found the ideal housing arrangement: two cabins on the same lot, one with two bedrooms, and the other with one.

There is also a place to fish out behind the lot.  The inside will never grace the pages of HGTV as it consists of cheap beds, dumpster finds, and artifacts found and items purchased in China. The boys want to keep putting their money toward traveling.  Gunnar quit his job in the political field and is back to being a busker as he loves the outdoors and the freedom to do what he wants in the way of earning money: playing for tips, fishing, and dumpster diving.

Garrett, on the other hand, is working diligently toward becoming an astronaut as required for this generation's heir's career goal.

They accomplished a lot on their most recent trip to China.  Ming Hong, now a teenager has finally joined the family. (I didn't realize those in other worlds kept aging, as they don't in the home world when students go off to university.) Here's a brief character sketch of Ming.

Ming is the result of the coupling of Garrett Sw0rd and Biyu (Shen) Hong. She has a half sister who Biyu and her husband, who apparently lack all imagination, also named Ming Hong. Perhaps the husband loved the name, but when he realized that the original Ming Hong wasn't his biological child, decided to send her away and give the name to the next child. My Ming has brown hair, like her father Garrett.

This theory makes sense, provided my Ming was born first, but the girls are quite close in age, so I don't know and didn't think to check.  For purposes of the story, lets assume that's what happened. My Ming was sent to live with neighbors and non-relatives: the Min-Yat Sens. I discovered Ming didn't know many people in this world, probably because she was kept in the house mopping endless puddles from broken sinks that no one except Garrett had the good sense to fix. This isn't to say the Min-Yat Sens were cruel to her, they just weren't very smart.  There is no official school in this China town, but Ming did come to the household knowing some logic and some cooking.

Ming is adventurous, brave, a light sleeper, and a vegetarian.  She apparently is fond of birds as she befriended this one, then set it free upon arriving in Hidden Springs.

If she becomes the heir of the 5th generation, she will be a single parent with one child, and this child will be "perfect," which means they will master the peg box, xylophone, block table, and baking oven. They will learn to use the potty, walk, and talk as a toddler, and be read all five toddler books. As a child, they will have an afterschool activity (Generations will be the next pack) and as a teen they will either take classes after school or they will have a part-time job.   As a career, Ming will be a busker (so maybe she can learn a thing or two about it from her uncle Gunnar now.) As her lifetime wish, she wants to have a private museum of artifacts from her travels, so she and her child will travel quite a bit.
She may be the generation that gets enough Visa points to buy a house in one of the vacation places - probably her home world of China.  I'd try to have Garrett do it, but I think he's glitched on the Visa points as he's been to China three times and doesn't have any points.  Gunnar, on the other hand, has 2 or 3 points.

One thing Ming has is a football, and she loves to play catch with people. This has helped build up her athletic skill.

Her dad plays a little rough . . .

Garrett has also taught her some hacky sac and martial arts skills.

For some reason, the school in Hidden Springs is glitched and school is never in session.  I thought about deleting and replacing it, but decided to "homeschool" Ming, and she doesn't get in trouble for not going to school this way, but can still use the rabbithole to take classes.  She has taken painting and guitar classes so far. She also met a boy that she is crushing on.  His name is Scott Chesterfield, and while he's a bit of a bore, she likes him.

However, Story Progression has notified me that despite the fact that he calls her and talks to her, there's another girl in his life that he also likes.  I'm not sure what Ming will do with this information when she finds out.

As for Gunnar, he did find Pangu's axe, and (I hope) it is safely in the chest at the house for future use. It's a handy item that breaks boulders and clears rubble with one swipe. Gunnar was able to explore a few tombs I had never seen before.  I have about exhausted what there is to do in China, I think.  There are a couple other tombs I need to access, but need keystones for them. I bought the skeleton keystone, but it apparently doesn't work on the "special" doors that have the key shape. Garrett will go to France next because a lady in the market wants him to bring her some French nectar.

As for the love-lives of the brothers, both are lacking serious relationships due to their social awkwardness.  They can never seem to have a conversation with someone without eventually putting their foot in their mouth.

I thought Gunnar had something good going with Cassidy Earthsong, as they hit it off on their first meeting and became friends.

He thought about her from time to time while he was in China. However, he lost that friendship when he invited her over the next time and said all the wrong things.

He invited Marla Grisby from Riverview over to visit, and in spite of her being mean to him (mean-spirited trait) he asked her to move in with him.  We'll see how that works out. Marla joined the music career, so that's something she and Gunnar have in common.

Garrett has been trying to hit it off with a variety of women: Jessica Willow (his boss), Francisca Vanderberg (from the royal family), Ella (aka Cinderella), and Maya Abbott (a married but unfaithful woman). Most of the time, he messes things up by trying to talk to them.  Sometimes it's better just to try to impress them with actions like making faces or demonstrating athletic skills.

This is how he got Maya Abbott to risky woohoo with him - once in the movie theater, and once at his house. We'll see if anything comes of it.  He doesn't need to be in a relationship, he just needs one more child as required for this generation. He's evil, so the fact that the women are already married doesn't weigh on his conscience.

Until the next update . . .
