Long Lost Heir Challenge "Rules"

 Long Lost Heir Challenge "Rules"

This challenge is in phases; if you want to skip the "father gets rich" phase, you can use cheats to do it.

Phase 1: Create character and an illegitimate heir.

Create a male character with at least a few traits that will make him difficult to get along with. (for instance my character, Donald Trump, is ambitious and charismatic, but also mean-spirited, a snob, and either hot-headed or inappropriate, I don't remember which.) It's been my experience with various other Sims I have played that having a high identification with either the jocks, nerds, or rebels tend to make people into jerks as well.

Choose whatever world you want for this challenge.

The character needs to meet a woman and produce an illegitimate child with her, then have nothing to do with this family.

Phase 2: Get rich and start a new family.

There are many paths to getting rich, but if you are new to Sims 3 or haven't played it in awhile, here are some ways to do it, depending on what packs you have. These can be combined to increase your income further.

  • Gain 30,000 happiness points by fulfilling your wishes for your Sim, then buy the inheritance lifetime reward which gives you 30,000 simoleons.
  • If you have Showtime, spend those 30,000 happiness points on a genie lamp, and wish for wealth - this will get you 100,000 simoleons - and if you wish for more wishes, you can ask again later.
  • If you have pets, get a good huntin' dog (or several) and a gem cutter to save costs of getting your gems cut. If you're lucky, your dog(s) might find tiberium. If you cut it yourself, you can save 6,000 simoleons and also get some leftover dust, which also grows. (Keep tiberium outside the house and let it grow until its worth a little over 30,000 simoleons before selling; if you keep it in your inventory, it will make you sick.) Other gems are also worth a lot of money, but not as much as this one.
  • Buy the Suave Seller reward with your lifetime happiness points if you choose to collect things to sell. This often doubles the amount you get for selling.
  • Max out your writing skills or painting skills and sell your books and works of art (again, Suave Seller lifetime reward can increase the income further if you sell at the consignment stores.)
  • If you have Into the Future, you can go rig the lottery - I haven't tried this one yet.
  • You can also become partners in businesses, buy out the other partners, collect income for awhile, the sell the business.  You can sell for a higher price if you have made improvements to the businesses.
  • If you have Seasons, call yourself a botanist and collect flowers and seeds and sell them. (This isn't a real Sims 3 job, but you can justify it by becoming a self-employed gardener and growing some crops - money trees are especially nice 😉, maybe keep some bees if you have Supernatural, or get a the science lab contraption to alter seeds if you have University) Some flowers are worth 400 - 600 simoleons each.
  • If you have World Adventures, become an archeologist (again, not a real career in Sims 3) and raid tombs, selling the relics and cashing in on the money bags you collect.
  • Cheat by using "familyfunds" if you don't want to do this part.
These are just a few "get rich" ideas, there are many more options, so use your imagination.

At this stage, your Sim should find a mate, marry them (preferably, but not required) and produce at least one more child.

Phase 3: Enter the long-lost heir

Once the illegitimate child from the first relationship becomes a young adult, they should try to connect with their birthfather and befriend him. They must be friends with him at the time that the father dies in order to get an inheritance. If you wish, you can make this a rule for the "legitimate" child(ren) as well.  The wife inherits half if she is still with him, otherwise the fortune is split evenly between those adult children who currently have a good relationship with the father.

As another option or to spice it up further, draft a will and put some bizarre requirements in the will that the heirs must accomplish (for example, pursue a certain line of work; marry someone with a specific trait or traits or a particular person selected by the father for an arranged marriage; earn certain degree(s) in college if you have University; max out certain skills; have a certain number of biological children of a particular gender; or create a certain number of zombies, witches, vampires, fairies, mummies, werewolves, ghosts, etc. if you have Supernatural or Late Night) This would be a good way to add another lifetime wish for your heirs.) Use your imagination.

The challenge ends when the father dies and the children receive their inheritances. Use "family funds" to redistribute the wealth.
