I Love Old People challenge #7 - Break-ups, deaths, and parties

I Love Old People challenge #7 - Break-ups, deaths, and parties

So I went back to check on Shawn and Heather after being away with the other elder members, and discovered that they went from being boyfriend/girlfriend to being enemies! Heather must have had enough of Shawn's bad behavior - good for her.  While he was sleeping, she got on the phone and moved back to Shady Acres. (I merged her back.)Then she sent a break-up text to Shawn.

Shady Acres had changed a lot since Heather had moved out: Darron moved out on his own to the shabby shack, and the caretakers, the Barney's, had moved out to the Orville Jackson house, and sold the place to the Godfrey's. (I created the Godfrey's and put them in the house.)

Meet the Godfrey's

Gerald Godfrey needed a fresh start after the tragic water-magic-trick accident that took the lives of his wife, Shanon, and youngest child Corrine. He and his remaining child, teenager Erika, moved to Deery Meadows and Gerald bought the Shady Acres Retirement home. What he didn't count on was his dearly departed family members following him! So much for a "fresh start." (Traits include frugal, hates outdoors, loves swimming, dramatic, and animal lover - Lifetime Goal is swimming in cash.)

Erika has been Gerald's "rock" ever since the tragic accident, and while she didn't want to uproot their lives and move to a new place, she knew her father needed it. She has vowed to make lemonade with the lemons life has handed her. (Traits include star quality, vehicle enthusiast, angler, and coward -which makes things difficult with two ghosts hanging around.)

Erika quickly made friends with Chanel.

Shanon is (or was) an over-emotional cat person with the traits of slob, evil, and diva.  She likes scaring the clients, and this is especially a problem with Shaggy who has the coward trait. To his credit, he has only passed out once. Shanon wants to stay until her remaining living daughter ages up to young adult. We'll see how things go.

Meanwhile, she has taken a job in the political career.

Finally, we have Corrine, who has the traits rebellious, friendly, and grumpy. Corrine also takes pleasure in tormenting the residents.

I might have Gerald go ask Grim to resurrect or reincarnate one of the ghosts - probably Corrine - as I don't know what that does exactly. Gerald did witness the most surprising death I've seen so far in the game. A paparazzi named Joshua Espinosa was doing something at the door of Grim's house when this happened:

This wasn't the only death that occurred this winter: Amir Wilburn passed away according to the paper. The funeral was held at the retirement home, and some of his old friends were in attendance. Both Gerald and Dara gave touching eulogies, and several people played music.

Refreshments were served after the ceremony, and Amir was interned in the Shady Acres Mausoleum at Grim's Cemetery.

Not everything was "Grim" this winter, however. Shady Acres did throw an epic gift-giving party and invited all the former residents.  This may have been a mistake as there were at least two known kleptomaniacs at the party and poor Erika's new bed went missing. It must have been Shawn who did it, because I checked in on Darron, and he didn't have it - but maybe the game doesn't keep track of that stuff if you aren't controlling those sims.  Anyway, various gifts were received: lamps, orchids, umbrellas, and stuffed animals. Shaggy even received a globe, and Chanel a gaming system.

I'm going to check in on Darron and see how he's doing.  Only a couple more days until Spring!
